Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Hide It Well_1 Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Hide It Well_1 “What do you mean, ‘what to do’?” Chen Momo was momentarily confused.
“That pregnant woman has been looking for me everywhere. I’ve got no place to go now. If you don’t help, I could be caught at any moment.” Qian Wenbin said with a tinge of panic.
Hearing this, Chen Momo realized it was indeed a problem.
After some thought, she led Qian Wenbin to the empty villa once lent to her by the Bo family’s patriarch. It was most secure to hide in the most dangerous places.
She believed that even Bo Jingyan wouldn’t think to look for Qian Wenbin in the Bo family’s villa, as long as they were careful.
Chen Momo handed him the keys and urged, “I’ll bring you some fast food every now and then. Stay in the villa and don’t go anywhere until we’re sure it’s safe.”
“Even if you didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t dare to leave.” Qian Wenbin was now in a state of constant agitation.
After settling Qian Wenbin down and buying him some daily necessities and food, Chen Momo left.
Back in the old house, she kept a close watch, subtly probing Bo Jingyan while he called to check on his grandfather. They seemed completely unaware of Xia Qingtian’s activities.
She breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that Xia Qingtian’s pursuit of Qian Wenbin was wholly her own initiative.
As long as she concealed Qian Wenbin successfully, Xia Qingtian would have no means to harm her.
Contented with this thought, Chen Momo felt herself relax.
…
After a fruitless day of searching, Xia Qingtian was both weary and dispirited.
Bo Jingyan had a multinational meeting to attend and was working late at the office.
Without much appetite, Xia Qingtian had a quick meal and retired to bed.
In the middle of the night, she was suddenly awakened by a loud clap of thunder. Opening her eyes, she saw it was raining heavily outside, with flashes of lightning streaking the sky.
Frightened by the thunder and lightning, she realized she’d left the balcony door open. The wind howled, causing the curtains to wildly flutter while the rain began to pour in.
She quickly got up, intending to close the balcony door.
However, as she walked towards it, she slipped on the rainwater that had seeped in, losing her balance.
“Ah…” Xia Qingtian cried out in terror, her face turning pale. The fall posed a threat to her unborn baby. She couldn’t always be lucky enough for both of them to come out unscathed.
“Be careful!”
Just as disaster was about to strike, a strong pair of arms suddenly steadied her from behind.
Xia Qingtian turned to see who’d caught her. To her astonishment, it was Bo Jingyan.
Surprised, she asked, “Mr. Bo, didn’t you say you’d be working late and not coming home tonight?”
“Aren’t you scared of thunder?” Bo Jingyan asked back.
He was relieved to have returned just in time. If not, Xia Qingtian might have been seriously injured and rushed to the hospital by now.
Xia Qingtian paused before realizing.
Bo Jingyan had remembered her fear of thunderstorms and had rushed back to keep her company, dropping all his work.
Touched, she felt a warm current well up within her, and her eyes welled with tears. “Mr. Bo, you’re so kind…”
Bo Jingyan’s eyes softened. He didn’t respond but gently lifted Xia Qingtian into his arms.
“Your room is all wet. You’re likely to slip and fall again. You won’t mind sleeping with me tonight, huh?”
Although he asked for her consent, he’d already carried her into his room.
“I don’t mind.” Xia Qingtian smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Bo Jingyan carefully laid her on his bed, stood up, and seemed to be about to leave her side.
Just then, another bolt of lightning struck.
Startled, Xia Qingtian instinctively grabbed Bo Jingyan’s hand. “Mr. Bo, where are you going?”
Not missing the unease on her face, Bo Jingyan said soothingly, “I was just planning on taking a shower. Don’t worry, I won’t leave you alone tonight.”
At these words, the thunderstorm raging outside seemed less frightening to Xia Qingtian.
“Then hurry back. I’ll be waiting…” She slowly released Bo Jingyan’s hand, urging him on.
Bo Jingyan took his clothes and went into the bathroom.
Not too long after, he came back out.
Xia Qingtian dutifully moved over to make room for him on the bed.
Exhausted, Bo Jingyan closed his eyes and went to sleep.
Looking at the man sleeping beside her, Xia Qingtian felt a sense of security. She also closed her eyes but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her leg just as she was about to fall asleep.
She quickly realized she had a leg cramp.
Her leg had been cramping frequently as the baby grew, so she had gotten used to it.
However, for some reason, the pain was especially sharp this time.
She didn’t want to disturb the evidently worn-out Bo Jingyan.
Biting her lip, she tried to sit up and rub her leg as she usually did. But her belly was so big, and her leg was in so much pain that she couldn’t move. Her arms couldn’t reach her leg either.
The pain was so severe that tears welled up in Xia Qingtian’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Bo Jingyan noticed her irregular breathing and promptly switched on the bedside lamp. Seeing her reddened eyes and grimacing face, he asked.
“Did I wake you up?” Xia Qingtian asked, tears spilling down her cheeks.
Seeing her cry, Bo Jingyan felt a twinge of pain. He wiped away her tears and asked, “Does your stomach hurt?”
Xia Qingtian shook her head, “No, it’s my leg. I have a cramp, and it hurts so much.”
Under his grandfather’s insistence, Bo Jingyan had read a parenting book, which taught him how to relieve cramp pain.
“It’s okay, I’m right here.” He helped Xia Qingtian sit up and started massaging her cramped leg with an unpracticed touch.
Soon after, Xia Qingtian felt the pain subsiding a great deal.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.” She bit her lip and said.
Only then did Bo Jingyan let go of her leg. He gently pinched her nose, “Why didn’t you call me when you were in such pain?”
“You seemed so tired. I didn’t want to bother you.”
Bo Jingyan’s face darkened at her retort. He looked at her seriously.
“Xia Qingtian, you are my wife. The child in your belly will bear the Bo surname and call me Dad. Taking care of you two is my responsibility. Don’t ever talk about disturbing me again.”
