The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife
Chapter 248: Playful Teasing
CHAPTER 248: PLAYFUL TEASING
The bed warmed by her was truly comfortable; Tang Shuwen felt utterly at ease. Xiao Nian was fast asleep, undisturbed by his parents. Chen Xueru, seeing the situation, pushed his chest with amusement. "Go back to your room to sleep."
"It’s fine, let’s just sleep like this. It’s late; don’t move around so much," Tang Shuwen said. Chen Xueru looked at Xiao Nian’s bed. She was lying on her side, and Tang Shuwen was also on his side. The child’s bed was fine for her and Xiao Nian, but with him, it felt crowded.
She was worried they might accidentally push Xiao Nian off.
"Be good, don’t move. I don’t mind if you sleep on top of me," Tang Shuwen gently pinched her upturned nose. Chen Xueru had no choice but to go along with him. He had originally intended to confess to Chen Xueru about Zhao Yuning, but they were newly married, and he had just narrowly escaped death. He didn’t want to stir up more trouble.
Moreover, regardless of whether Zhao Yuning’s child was his or not, that child ultimately couldn’t remain, so there was no need to tell Xueru.
He could bear this agonizing pain himself; there was no need for Xueru to endure it.
Now, he couldn’t bear to see her frown.
Perhaps it was her past misfortunes that evoked his pity, or perhaps it was her ability to raise Xiao Nian so well despite enduring so much hardship, possessing such an optimistic and strong character. Every aspect of her made him feel tenderness.
He didn’t want Xueru to shed tears of sorrow, and even more, he didn’t want their family to be separated.
He had already decided that this was his wife and child.
"After the third day of the Lunar New Year, how about we go on our honeymoon? Where do you want to go?" He still owed her a honeymoon.
"I like Paris."
Tang Shuwen pecked her cheek. "Then Paris it is. It’s decided. Go to sleep."
Wen Nuan returned to her parents’ home for New Year’s Eve. Ye Feimo visited on the second day of the Lunar New Year, bringing several cans of exquisite tea leaves. Wen Nuan didn’t understand or particularly care for tea, but her father loved it. That very day, he brewed a pot and drank it, praising it endlessly, calling it an invaluable treasure and a true pleasure in life.
As for Wen Nuan’s mother, she received a diamond necklace. Anning’s jewelry had many styles, and her mother absolutely adored the pigeon-blood ruby necklace he gave her, beaming with joy.
Wen Jing, however, received a tablet computer of an unknown brand. According to Wen Jing, its functions were even more powerful than Steve Jobs’ Apple. Wen Jing decisively abandoned Steve Jobs and sided with Ye Feimo.
He charmed the entire family, making them happy. Although he remained expressionless, with only a rare hint of a smile, after several visits, Wen Nuan’s parents had come to understand and get used to his temperament.
It didn’t matter if the person was an ice cube, as long as their heart wasn’t.
He was a classic example of "cold on the outside, warm on the inside," and very thoughtful. His gifts weren’t necessarily about monetary value; what mattered was that they catered to individual preferences, each gift hitting the mark. That was what was most important.
Thus, Wen Nuan sadly discovered that her parents and sister had all sided with Ye Feimo.
The most upsetting part was that everyone in the family received a gift except for her.
"Special treatment, huh?" While Ye Feimo rested in Wen Nuan’s room, Wen Nuan vehemently protested his favoritism. Everyone else received a gift, but she didn’t, which was utterly unfair.
"My whole being is yours, what more gift do you need, greedy girl?" Ye Feimo replied calmly, pulling her into a passionate kiss. Wen Nuan laughed and playfully punched him several times.
"Girls truly become less valuable once they’re pursued," Wen Nuan remarked with a sigh.
This was why people said men changed before and after marriage. They weren’t even married yet, and the difference was already apparent. What would happen after marriage? This same person used to wait downstairs with two bouquets of flowers, even confessing his affection in a delicate manner. But now, once he had her, she couldn’t even hear a single "I love you." Oh, the internal wounds, the internal wounds...
"Good that you know," Ye Feimo said with a smile, tapping her nose. He casually picked up the photo album Wen Nuan had been looking at yesterday. Wen Nuan wanted to stop him, but it was too late; Ye Feimo had already opened it.
The first page showed a tiny, yellowish Wen Nuan, still drinking milk, sitting chubby on the floor, sucking her finger, her eyes as innocent and adorable as a little white rabbit. But... Young Master Ye Second burst out laughing. Wen Nuan pounced to cover his mouth, fiercely telling him not to speak. Young Master Ye Second took the opportunity to kiss her palm, making Wen Nuan’s face flush, and she quickly pulled her hand away.
Young Master Ye Second pulled her closer. "Why were you so ugly when you were little? Small eyes, a flat nose, as plump as a pig. Most importantly, why was your skin so yellowish, like the loess plateau? You look malnourished. Wait, young lady, did you get plastic surgery?"
"Go away! You’re the one who had plastic surgery! Your whole family is obsessed with looks! I’ve long suspected your whole family was made from the same mold, especially your father, your brother, and you three. A family of handsome men and beautiful women should at least have one genetic mutation!" Wen Nuan said, kicking his leg. Her psychological balance was severely off.嗚嗚 (Ugh)... He actually said she had plastic surgery.
Although her childhood appearance was indeed... a bit unbearable to look at.
"The saying ’girls change completely at eighteen’ is truly not false. Why were you so ugly when you were little?" Ye Feimo mumbled. If someone had shown him this photo and said it was Wen Nuan, he would have definitely thrown her downstairs.
Next was three- or four-year-old Wen Nuan. Her skin was still yellowish, but her eyes had a hint of peach blossom, and her nose was pretty, though still plump...
Then came the seven- or eight-year-old girl, wearing a white princess dress, with fair skin and delicate features, a living miniature princess. Ye Feimo was conflicted. "Where are your five or six-year-old photos? At least let me see the transition! Going from an ugly duckling to a swan in one leap—it’s strange if people don’t suspect you had plastic surgery!"
What a huge change.
"What do you mean? I think I was quite cute," Wen Nuan said narcissistically. Ye Feimo cast a sidelong glance at her. His own changes from childhood to adulthood weren’t very obvious, but Wen Nuan’s were like night and day.
A sudden transformation.
"I knew you judged people by their appearance," Wen Nuan turned her face away. Ye Feimo said, "I generally judge women by their figures. Their faces just need to be passable."
Wen Nuan turned her head with a chilling look. "Are you implying that I’m ugly?"
Ye Feimo retorted expressionlessly, "I’m complimenting your good figure."
Wen Nuan almost stood up and punched him. Who was it that said her figure was bad before?
She turned her face away indignantly, not bothering to argue with him. Ye Feimo’s lips curled up, his mood extremely pleasant. This girl was truly too easy to tease. Ye Feimo was in a wonderful mood for a moment.
However, further on, his expression began to change from sunny to cloudy.
