The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife
Chapter 287: Familial Affairs
CHAPTER 287: FAMILIAL AFFAIRS
Wen Nuan had expected to have to argue and persuade him, believing that Ye Feimo’s personality wouldn’t tolerate such a thing. She also guessed that Ye Feimo would be angry that she valued her career more than him.
However, Ye Feimo showed no signs of anger whatsoever.
"Ye Feimo..."
"I don’t mind if you start calling me ’husband’ now."
"Get out of here," Wen Nuan said with a smile. All her emotions vanished again. She hugged Ye Feimo, immensely grateful. She was truly touched by his profound understanding.
He had changed; still domineering, but now capable of such empathy.
"It’s settled then. We’ll go to Las Vegas in two days," Ye Feimo said, unable to wait any longer for the marriage. Although they were already cohabiting and living like a married couple, there was a difference between a certificate and every other document.
How did that saying go? A mistress isn’t scary, and a fourth party doesn’t matter; the government always recognizes the original spouse.
This alone proved how important that certificate was.
She would be a legitimate woman in the eyes of the law.
The thought alone made her happy, even though the Ye family never really knew what it meant to obey laws and were quite skilled at finding legal loopholes.
"No need to rush. Your wounds will take seven or eight days to heal. You can’t even get out of bed in two days. Why are you in such a hurry? I won’t run away," Wen Nuan said with a sweet smile. Ye Feimo was prone to acting impulsively, but she couldn’t. His recovery was the most important thing.
Cheng Anya and Ye Sanshao had already known about Ye Feimo’s injury. Ye Wei had notified them as soon as she found out. Cheng Anya had always given Ye Feimo extra attention since he was young. After his health deteriorated, she was even more concerned about his routines and daily life. Ye Feimo would not handle Dragon Gate matters unless absolutely necessary, leaving everything to Su Ran and Tang Shuwen.
Upon hearing he was injured, Cheng Anya was very worried. Mo Wushuang answered the phone when she called Rome, repeatedly assuring her there was no life-threatening danger, only then did Cheng Anya drop the idea of coming to Rome.
After Ye Feimo woke up and had a private conversation with Wen Nuan, he called home to report his safety and casually mentioned his and Wen Nuan’s plan to register their marriage in the United States. They chose to have a private marriage, only known to family, and would not announce it publicly for now.
Cheng Anya chuckled, "Alright, kid. Saving a beauty got you a wife! You’re getting married much more easily than your dad and brother."
It was indeed effortless. Getting married in less than a year of knowing each other was truly... impressive.
But as a mother, she was very happy that Ye Feimo could find happiness.
"Mom, Dad also got you by saving a beauty," Ye Feimo said with a soft smile. "We might stay in Rome for a bit longer, probably half a month before we can return."
"Understood. One more thing, are you really okay? What did Robert say?"
"He said everything’s normal, Mom. It’s just superficial wounds; don’t be nervous," Ye Feimo said. Whenever he had a slight illness or pain, his mother would always be very anxious, let alone with such a serious injury this time.
Cheng Anya’s heart, which had been hanging in her chest, finally settled.
"Remember to tell Wen Nuan’s parents about your marriage registration. Be polite. You need to change your attitude towards your in-laws; be respectful. Don’t speak to elders with that half-dead tone. Your dad and I are used to it, but your in-laws might be unhappy," Cheng Anya instructed.
"I’m injured..."
"You use that tone even when you’re full of life. Remember that," Cheng Anya repeated grumpily. Only when Ye Feimo confirmed again did she feel relieved.
Ye Sanshao happened to come downstairs and casually asked, "Why are you smiling so charmingly? What did Feimo say to please you?"
Cheng Anya hung up the phone and turned back with a slight smile. "Feimo said he and Wen Nuan are going to Las Vegas to register their marriage. It’ll probably happen in half a month. Our family will have one more member."
Ye Sanshao paused. "Didn’t you sound her out in Yejian? The girl refused without a second thought. How long has it been since she changed her mind?"
"Feimo got injured, I told you, right?"
"What’s so great about being injured? Do I need to know specifically?" Ye Sanshao asked, puzzled. Wasn’t it just saving a beauty? That little bit of trouble wouldn’t kill anyone.
"Saving a beauty got him a wife. He’s much stronger than you," Cheng Anya said with a smile. Years had passed, but her smile remained somewhat formal, as if she were still his chief secretary.
Ye Sanshao scoffed, "What does that have to do with me? When it comes to picking up women, in terms of skill and technique, a hundred Feimos wouldn’t be my match. Relatively speaking, aren’t you the difficult one? Don’t blame everything on me. Besides, I think I got you on the very first day, otherwise, where would Ningning come from?"
Cheng Anya teared up. Weren’t they talking about getting married?
"They’re not having a wedding?"
"Wen Nuan said it’s a private marriage."
"Feimo’s growing up! He’s listening to his wife on such a big matter, even before she’s officially moved in. He’s a henpecked husband already. A tragic life begins. May the Lord bless him," Ye Sanshao said, making a show of drawing a cross.
"Are you that gleeful?"
"Oh, right, Weiwei and Eleven are playing on a Mediterranean island. Should we go over?" Ye Sanshao was more interested in this. "Chu Li and Rong Yan are also going. Let’s join the fun."
As they aged, their world as a couple was winding down. They always enjoyed being with the others. Ye Sanshao had classified all of them as the "eat, drink, and wait to die" type, with basically nothing else left to do.
Only eating, drinking, and having fun remained.
"Is it okay if we’re not home when Feimo and Wen Nuan return from their marriage? We still need to meet the Wen family and have a meal. Even if it’s a private marriage, these customs are still necessary," Cheng Anya said. "Let’s wait until they return before we leave."
"When?"
"Feimo said half a month."
"There’s still time. A few days later won’t matter. It’s a private marriage anyway, so it might as well stay completely private."
Cheng Anya, "..."
Ye Feimo had explained things quite clearly to his family, and Ye Sanshao and Anya had no objections, simply considering it a common occurrence. When Wen Nuan called home and spoke to her mother, her parents were surprised but also did not object.
Wen’s father originally had some opinions about Ye Feimo’s past romantic entanglements. Wen’s mother also believed that Ye Feimo was suitable as a lover but unreliable as a husband, too flirtatious and too charming. She feared that Wen Nuan would suffer in the future, and since Ye Feimo came from a wealthy and powerful family, Wen’s mother worried for Wen Nuan.
However, Wen Nuan recounted how Ye Feimo saved her in Rome, and Wen’s mother completely dropped her objections. As parents, their daughter’s happiness was more important than anything.
