CHAPTER 368: CRASH

### The Shopping Spree Ends in a Crash

The white minivan was sliding down the slope at a high speed. As Wen Nuan turned her head, the minivan’s rear was facing her, and it was already right next to her. She suddenly felt a powerful force hit her. Gao Chunmiao quickly hugged her and they fell onto the grassy area, narrowly avoiding the van. The minivan sped down the hill, crashing into an old house at the bottom. Half of the house collapsed, and the minivan’s taillights and windshield were completely shattered.

Wen Nuan was still in a state of shock. If Gao Chunmiao hadn’t moved so quickly, she would have been run over by the minivan. Why would the car suddenly roll backward for no reason?

"Wen Nuan, are you hurt? And Chunmiao, are you okay?" Tang Mandong didn’t care about the minivan. She rushed over to check on their injuries. Gao Chunmiao was athletic and was fine. Wen Nuan’s arm just hit a rock, and she was okay, too. Tang Mandong finally felt relieved.

Even though it was late at night, the food stall was still crowded. They used to come here a lot in high school. Many students and nearby residents came here to eat. Wen Nuan was still confused about what happened with the minivan. Since no one was seriously hurt, Gao Chunmiao didn’t bother to pursue it. The owner of the minivan had already called for a tow truck and ran up the hill, yelling at them for a refund.

Tang Mandong was furious. "Your car almost ran over my friend! And you’re being so unreasonable?"

"My car was parked just fine. How could it suddenly roll down the hill? It must have been you guys!" The owner was a thug. When he saw three young and pretty girls, he became even more of a jerk and demanded compensation.

A few customers from the food stall gathered around, and some of them recognized Wen Nuan.

"Hey, isn’t that Wen Nuan? The famous celebrity!"

"Yeah, she’s so pretty..."

The owner saw people talking and knew who Wen Nuan was. He started shouting even louder. "So what if you’re a big celebrity? My car is a wreck. Do celebrities not have to pay for damages?"

Gao Chunmiao put her hands on her hips. "Hey, have you had enough? Your car almost killed someone, and you have the nerve to ask for compensation here? It’s a good thing we’re not asking you for compensation! What a piece of junk. It was parked just fine, and it rolled down and hit people. And you still want compensation? Do you try to rip off everyone you see?"

"My car wouldn’t just roll down for no reason. Are you trying to deny it?" The owner pointed at them and cursed, demanding money. A few strong-looking men surrounded them. It seemed like they were all in on it.

Seven or eight men surrounded the three of them. One of them said angrily, "If you don’t pay us a hundred thousand yuan or so, you’re not leaving."

"Are you insane? We didn’t even touch your car. Who knows why your car suddenly crashed down the hill? Stop harassing us, or I’m calling the police," Tang Mandong said angrily, taking out her phone. A man reached out to grab Tang Mandong’s phone. The onlookers were afraid of getting into trouble and only dared to get closer. No one even called the police.

Tang Mandong was completely enraged. She turned around and used an over-the-shoulder throw on the man, who was almost 160 pounds. He yelled in pain. Tang Mandong frowned. When the other men saw that she knew martial arts, they all surrounded her. Tang Mandong sneered. Gao Chunmiao protected Wen Nuan and took a few steps back. The two of them clapped and cheered. Gao Chunmiao also knew martial arts, but she wasn’t as good as Tang Mandong. With a few beautiful and powerful moves, Tang Mandong knocked all the men down. She clapped her hands and said, "Who wants compensation?"

The thugs on the ground were crying and wailing. The owner saw this and was afraid to go forward. He was clearly a bully who preyed on the weak. A few middle school students clapped and cheered. The group of thugs left in a hurry. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared, and many people were taking pictures. Wen Nuan frowned. Gao Chunmiao said angrily, "Hey, no pictures, or I’ll break your cameras."

---

The thugs had left, and the three of them were still in a good mood. They went to the food stall as planned, and the owner treated them.

The three of them used to come here often, but they hadn’t been back since college. The owner was very familiar with them. He was beaming with excitement. Gao Chunmiao found out that the thugs were from the area. They often came to the food stall to eat but never paid. They considered it protection money. Once, when the owner asked them to pay, he was beaten up. He ran a small business and didn’t dare to provoke these thugs, but he had been holding in his anger for over a year and had been wanting someone to beat them up. Tang Mandong’s beating made the owner ecstatic, and he treated them to all the late-night snacks for free.

Stir-fried noodles, vegetables, boiled beef, cashews, pork liver porridge... The owner served them all his famous dishes.

The owner was thoughtful and still remembered what they liked to eat. Wen Nuan ate the pork liver porridge and vegetables without oil. She had to stay in shape, so she couldn’t eat anything greasy so late at night.

She still had a question in her mind. Why would the car suddenly crash down?

Logically, this was impossible. Why?

When the food was served, the owner came over and started chatting. He knew Wen Nuan was famous now and wanted to take a picture with her to put at the entrance to attract customers. Gao Chunmiao laughed, and Wen Nuan, being good-natured and easy to talk to, agreed. The owner happily called all his employees out to take a picture with Wen Nuan. The name of the food stall was clearly visible. He was even afraid that the picture would turn out bad, so he had people take a few more. He planned to get them developed and hang them up at the entrance tomorrow.

A few middle school students also came over for a picture, and Wen Nuan was good-natured enough to agree to all of them. By the time they could finally eat, Tang Mandong and Gao Chunmiao had already finished a plate of beef and stir-fried noodles.

"Mandong, why do you think that car crashed down? Did someone mess with the car?" Wen Nuan asked. She still couldn’t figure it out. The car was fine. If no one had messed with it, how could it suddenly crash down?

Gao Chunmiao also felt the same way. After they got out of the car, Wen Nuan was across the street drinking juice, and the car suddenly rushed toward her. It looked like a premeditated attack. Luckily, she was quick. If she had been a little later...

"I saw that the owner only came out of the food stall after someone told him the minivan was crashing down. If he was the one who messed with it, he wouldn’t have run back into the food stall and then come back out," Tang Mandong said. "But if it wasn’t those thugs, then who was it? Even if someone was targeting Wen Nuan, how did they know we were at the food stall? Did they follow us here? And then look for an opportunity to hurt Wen Nuan?"

Gao Chunmiao waved her hand. "Forget it. Maybe we’re overthinking it. It was probably just an accident."
