The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife
Chapter 449: Sanctuary
CHAPTER 449: SANCTUARY
Kaka’s headquarters, London.
Wushuang had flown for over ten hours to London and then gone straight to an assassination. She was mentally and physically exhausted. She didn’t say much to Kaka, leaning back and drifting off to sleep. People like them never slept easily in unfamiliar places.
Moreover, their sleep was always light, and it was even harder to fall asleep while driving.
However, in less than five minutes, Wushuang was in a deep sleep.
Her breathing was even, her dark hair was spread out, covering her pale cheek. Her long, curled eyelashes rested gently on her face. Asleep, she had no aggression, as docile as a little white rabbit, lacking the Queen-like aura she had when awake, appearing like a girl waiting to be cherished.
At a traffic light, Kaka stared, lost in thought.
It wasn’t until a car drove past him that he snapped back to reality. He wondered why Wushuang had come all the way to London to kill Field, something she rarely did herself. She enjoyed thrill and excitement but not killing. It was puzzling.
When the car arrived at the First Terror Organization headquarters, Kaka got out. He was about to wake her, but seeing her sleep so soundly and look so well-behaved, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead, he carried her inside.
Zhou Muhan and Xuanwu were discussing the research for the next batch of weapons when they saw him carry Wushuang in. Xuanwu was surprised. "Didn’t Jiaqi go to Norway? She’s back so soon?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhou Muhan interrupted him. "Does Jiaqi look that tall? And Jiaqi has wavy hair."
Xuanwu paused. Wushuang’s head was buried in Kaka’s arms, her long hair almost covering her face, but Zhou Muhan knew who she was with just one glance. He shook his head. Kaka paused in the lobby, holding Wushuang. "Still up this late?"
"We’re researching the production type for the next batch. The MX-335 can be discontinued. The research department received a set of new weapon blueprints, and we’re studying and referencing them," Xuanwu said, though he was very curious about the woman in Kaka’s arms.
Kaka simply nodded and carried Wushuang upstairs.
"Muhan, who is Nanfeng carrying?" Xuanwu asked, confused. "Ah, is he two-timing? Is he dating a new girlfriend behind Jiaqi’s back?"
"Stop talking nonsense." Zhou Muhan smiled faintly, a sharp glint in his eyes, showing the composure, calmness, and shrewdness of his father. He was the First Terror Organization’s financial genius.
Kaka had worked for several all-nighters. After less than two hours of sleep, he had called Muhan to find Wushuang. Muhan had just found out that Wushuang was in London and was on a mission to assassinate Field. As soon as Kaka heard, he immediately went out after making the orange drink.
Now, he returned carrying a woman. Muhan already guessed who it was.
Zhou Muhan, the son of Jack and Tie, was three years younger than Kaka. He was close with Little White, Wushuang, Mo Yao, and Mo Chen. In fact, the next generation of the First Terror Organization and the Mafia didn’t have much interaction.
They were so close because their parents often traveled together and held gatherings when they were young. Growing up together, they became very familiar. He personally liked the Mo siblings very much.
That’s why Zhou Muhan and Bruno knew Wushuang, but Xuanwu, Qinglong, and Zhuque did not.
"Who is that? We’ve been brothers for so many years. Don’t keep it a secret. Doesn’t Nanfeng like Jiaqi? Also... it’s the first time I’ve seen him condescend to hold a woman. Something’s going on. Tell me, or I’m calling Jiaqi."
Zhou Muhan glanced at him and shook his head. "It’s none of your business. Don’t be nosy. As for them... listen, I know you’re all good to Jiaqi, but be smart. Don’t provoke the person Kaka is carrying, or I won’t be responsible if Kaka turns on you. Even if Kaka doesn’t, you’ll be tormented to death."
Xuanwu wanted to ask more questions, but Zhou Muhan waved his hand and said faintly, "It’s late. Let’s discuss this tomorrow."
Kaka carried Wushuang to the third floor and entered his room. The headquarters was vast. There were rooms on the third floor, but the guest rooms hadn’t been lived in for a long time. They felt cold and lifeless. Kaka didn’t want Wushuang to sleep in a guest room, so he carried her to his own bedroom.
He had just woken up, so the bed was a mess. Wushuang woke up briefly when she was put down, then groggily snuggled into his quilt and fell asleep again. Kaka smiled, twisted a hot towel to wipe her face and feet. He considered changing her into a more comfortable pajama set but decided against it.
Just as he was about to lie down, Wushuang’s phone rang.
Kaka took her phone and answered it on the balcony. It was Mo Xiaobai calling. Hearing Kaka’s voice, Mo Xiaobai chuckled slyly on the other end. "Kaka, it’s almost 3 AM in London. A single man and a single woman, hehe... Did you eat my sister up completely?"
"She’s asleep," Kaka said faintly, his voice carrying a hint of a satisfied smile. Mo Xiaobai heard it and felt a rush of emotion. Kaka, very disdainful of him, said, "Princess Xiaobai..."
"Shut up!" Mo Xiaobai interrupted Kaka through gritted teeth, suddenly crying out, "Waaah... I hate you and Little Cousin..."
’Princess Xiaobai’ was the nickname Kaka had given Mo Xiaobai. Since childhood, he had found Mo Xiaobai to be particularly spoiled, very much a princess, and he looked like a princess too. It was rare for a boy to grow up so stunningly beautiful, comparable to Wushuang, so he gave Xiaobai that nickname.
Kaka and Ye Feimo grew up together. What Kaka did, Ye Feimo would also do.
However, Ye Feimo’s bad habits had improved a lot in recent years. Kaka was different. He thought the nickname he gave Xiaobai was very tasteful and a great achievement, so whenever Xiaobai teased him, he would call him Princess Xiaobai.
It was his ultimate move.
When two cunning minds clash, the comparison is naturally in cunningness.
Mo Xiaobai was clearly not cunning enough.
"Good boy, don’t cry. Big Brother will buy you candy in America," Kaka said casually, his voice growing more amused. Mo Xiaobai whined softly, "Little Brother wants the milk-white bunny ones."
"Sure, I’ll get some for your little brother too."
Mo Xiaobai cried, then scoffed proudly, "I’m done playing."
Kaka smiled, sitting down on the balcony lounge chair. Not far away were a few scattered villas. The scent of night-blooming jasmine wafted sweetly from the gardens. A crystal lamp shone on the balcony, casting a thin layer of gentle indifference over his face.
"What did you call Wushuang for?" Kaka asked with a laugh. The curtain was open. He turned his head and saw Wushuang’s peaceful, infant-like face. It felt so serene. Kaka felt his mood soften strangely at that moment.
"How strange. Do I have to have a reason to call my sister?" Mo Xiaobai countered with a laugh.
