The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife
Chapter 57: I Won’t Hurt You Again
CHAPTER 57: I WON’T HURT YOU AGAIN
She had absolutely no idea what Fang Liucheng had sacrificed for her behind the scenes. After the family’s upheaval, she had always blamed him for being heartless, discarding all the kindness he had shown her, never once trying to see things from his perspective.
Now, hearing him say this, Wen Nuan felt flustered and didn’t know what to say.
"Aren’t you... don’t you hate us?" Wen Nuan asked hesitantly.
Fang Liucheng nodded. "Yes, I hate the Wen family. If it weren’t for your father, my parents would still be alive, and I wouldn’t have become an orphan. But Wen Nuan, my parents only gave me a few years of their lives after all. I still have decades ahead of me. I’ve always liked you, very much. I kept forcing myself to say, you’re the Wen family’s daughter, I can’t get too close to you, I was afraid of getting in too deep. I kept forcing myself to keep my distance from you, but Wen Nuan, all these years, I’ve already been in too deep, whether you believe it or not, I really like you. I took my revenge. I thought I would feel relieved, I would be happy, but I found out I was wrong, completely wrong. I would rather give up this hatred and start over with you. Nuan Nuan, I’ll return the Wen family’s business to you. Let’s start over, okay? I won’t hurt you again."
His earnestness, his deep affection, was so intense it almost burned her. She could feel his passion, his sincerity, his determination. Her palms were sweating with nervousness.
This had been her dream since she was a young girl.
He had been her Prince Charming from adolescence to adulthood. How she yearned for her Prince Charming to ride a white horse and take her back to the castle, so that the prince and princess could live happily ever after, just like in fairy tales.
But that dream had been shattered once.
"What about Ye Feimo? Don’t you care?" Wen Nuan asked. Fang Liucheng wasn’t a fool; he should be able to see that her relationship with Ye Feimo wasn’t pure, although not in the way he might think. But she and Ye Feimo were indeed in a somewhat ambiguous situation.
No man could stand that, right?
Fang Liucheng closed his eyes in pain. "This is all my fault. I’m willing to bear the consequences, Nuan Nuan. Please believe me."
"I..." Wen Nuan’s thoughts were in chaos, her mind a mess. She didn’t know what to do.
After all, she was still a naive young girl, with a simple heart and a deep admiration for Fang Liucheng. Hearing his passionate confession and firm promises, things she had dreamed of countless times, her thoughts had long turned into mush.
What should she do?
Clap, clap, clap. Applause came from behind them. Wen Nuan’s back stiffened. Ye Feimo’s voice was like a gust of cold wind, blowing through her disordered heart. Ye Feimo said, "Young Master Fang, your affection for my fiancée is truly touching. Even I, her fiancé, am moved."
Wen Nuan only felt a tightening around her waist as he pulled her into his embrace.
Ye Feimo held her possessively, his cold gaze directly fixed on Fang Liucheng. "Her career doesn’t need your concern, and neither does her future. Anything you can give her, I can give her too."
Wen Nuan’s heart skipped a beat. What madness was Ye Feimo spouting now?
How could he casually say such things to Fang Liucheng?
Didn’t he know that promises were a very important thing?
The two equally matched men coldly confronted each other, their gazes filled with stubbornness and composure. Their powerful auras made Gu Rui and Linda tremble slightly. This was the legendary dominance of male animals.
Both Fang Liucheng and Ye Feimo were figures who could shake the economy of A City with a stomp of their feet. To see such men with expressions that seemed to want to annihilate each other for a woman was truly... unbelievable.
Gu Rui looked at Han Bi and suddenly felt that the "Beauty and the Schemer" project was very unreliable.
Ye Feimo and Wen Nuan got into the car. She followed him blankly. Fang Liucheng wanted to call out to Wen Nuan, but seeing her expressionless face, his heart ached terribly. This was all his doing.
If there hadn’t been this revenge, he and Wen Nuan wouldn’t have ended up like this.
Han Bi watched Ye Feimo’s car speed away, her whole body icy cold, as if she had been submerged in cold water, shivering uncontrollably. She kept comforting herself, it’s okay, Feimo was just temporarily confused, he wouldn’t abandon her.
Wen Nuan’s mind was filled with Fang Liucheng’s passionate confession, his burning gaze, his intense emotions. Were those sincere feelings he had just poured out real? Did Fang Liucheng really like her?
Time seemed to have flowed back to the past. Wen Nuan’s heart ached. If he had made things clear to her earlier, how wonderful that would have been.
Ye Feimo coldly curled the corner of his lips. He turned his head to look at her confused and pained profile. An inexplicable anger welled up in his heart. Hadn’t this idiot been deceived enough? She still believed Fang Liucheng.
They drove down the mountain in silence. Wen Nuan said, "Do you men always wait until you lose something to try and get it back?"
Ye Feimo glanced at her coolly. "How many men have you even met? Don’t judge everyone based on one man. I told you you haven’t seen much of the world, but you wouldn’t believe me. One man and you’re already this infatuated. Some ambition you have."
Wen Nuan seemed lost in her own thoughts, not hearing Ye Feimo’s words, let alone noticing the sourness in Young Master Ye’s tone. Her heart had been turned upside down by Fang Liucheng’s words.
One moment sweet, the next bitter, one moment wanting to rush towards him regardless of everything, the next feeling that she shouldn’t trust him.
Two little Wennuans appeared in Wen Nuan’s heart, one putting on a cold, expressionless facade, the other, newly in love, wanting to rush towards her Prince Charming. The two kept struggling with each other.
Ye Feimo knew what she was thinking just by looking at her expression. This girl Wen Nuan was very easy for him to understand; her emotions were all written on her face. Young Master Ye flicked his long finger on her forehead.
"Ah, that hurts..." Wen Nuan suddenly came back to her senses and turning away, glaring fiercely at Ye Feimo. "What are you doing?"
"Sitting next to me and daring to think about another man? Are you looking for death?" Ye Feimo said coolly, his cold gaze sweeping over her. "Miss Wen, what is the thirteenth clause of the agreement?"
"Who knows what all your agreements are?" Wen Nuan mumbled, trying hard to recall the agreement in her mind. What was the thirteenth clause? She had been so busy lately, who had the mood to remember such trivial things?
What was it?
"It seems Miss Wen is rather nonchalant about the agreement. When we get back, I’ll add another clause. If I ask you and you can’t answer, each wrong answer will cost you a million." Ye Feimo said without changing his expression.
