The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 459 - 457: Reunion
CHAPTER 459: CHAPTER 457: REUNION
Li Qian ambled out by the door alone, and Su Mo couldn’t help but speak upon noticing him, "Your eyes still haven’t healed?"
Li Qian chuckled and shook his head, softly saying, "It’s a bit blurry."
Zhao Changsheng immediately dragged Su Mo away to complain, "He’s so high maintenance, I’m just short of escorting him to the toilet and wiping his butt for him."
"Pfft," Su Mo couldn’t hold back and laughed out loud.
Everyone was joking and laughing, except for Lin Yao, who stood there alone, unable to join the conversation. She looked downcast and eventually returned to the bedroom in silence.
It was then that Jianxiong sneakily moved closer to Su Mo and whispered with a sly tone, "Sister, that woman who just arrived, although she has the precious Healing Superpower, why doesn’t she live somewhere else and insists on crowding in with us?"
Su Mo raised an eyebrow and glanced back at Lu Chen, "So that’s why you set up a bedroom on the third floor?"
Lu Chen nodded.
Zhao Changsheng followed with an impatient murmur, "Rong Bai brought her over, her superpower is really helpful to the refugee camp, so we had no choice but to agree."
A Healing Superpower User could save many lives, so considering the bigger picture, they decided to accommodate Lin Yao’s wishes.
Su Mo didn’t seem too bothered, handing the child back to Jiang Yulian and patting her on the shoulder, "It’s fine, her superpower is very useful for the refugee camp, and if there’s an outbreak of a zombie horde, she could still help out."
"Speaking of a zombie horde, that child..." Li Qian, standing on the side, asked with a hint of curiosity.
Su Mo slapped her forehead in frustration, she and Lu Chen had been in bed too long and almost forgot about that matter, "Tonight, come to my restaurant and we’ll talk over it. I’ll make you a delicious meal."
"Finally, I can eat sister’s cooking again," Jianxiong said, drooling with anticipation and happiness.
"All right, see you tonight," Su Mo waved her hand.
"See you tonight? Let’s go now," Zhao Changsheng urged, pushing Su Mo towards the exit.
Li Qian coughed softly behind her, his dark eyes still carrying a hint of hollowness and confusion. Zhao Changsheng’s original smile froze, she let go of Su Mo and resigned herself to walk back, "Let’s go, blind man."
Li Qian naturally looped his arm through hers, his lips curving into a gentle smile.
Su Mo scrutinized the two of them, and it seemed like Zhao Changsheng was completely ensnared.
The large group bustled out the door. Feng Qi, who had been listening in from the side, immediately alerted Feng Yao. As soon as Su Mo reached the bottom of the stairs, that door also swung open, and it was clear Feng Yao was also coming to scrounge a meal.
The room quieted down, and Lin Yao, who had not attempted to eavesdrop on their conversation, sat on the bed. Hearing the sound of the door closing outside, she thought Su Mo had left. When she opened the door, she saw the empty house and felt an even heavier sense of suffocation.
It was true she had actively approached their team, but they were taking her way too lightly!
Lin Yao kicked over a chair in anger, her eyes burning with fury.
Rong Bai had been managing the base for a day when he received a message from Lu Chen. He picked up Ling Ye, who was still in training, and rushed straight to the commercial street.
Su Mo’s small restaurant wasn’t open yet. She pulled down the blinds on the glass windows, turned on the ceiling lights, and the interior, equipped with a generator, lit up brightly.
She motioned for everyone to join a few wooden tables together; otherwise, there would not be enough seats.
Once everyone had moved the chairs and sat down, ready to listen to her, Su Mo walked to the side and said, "You might be surprised when I tell you this, but I’ve brought it back. However, don’t worry, it won’t harm anyone."
As soon as she spoke, indeed everyone’s expressions changed, yet more out of curiosity than anything else.
Jianxiong asked, "Sister, where did you put it?"
Su Mo opened the System Bag and took out Yang Yichu, who was asleep in the Treasure Bag.
A flash of white light swept by, and a little boy with black hair and black eyes appeared beside her, looking about the same age as Ling Ye. The only difference was his excessively pale skin.
When Yang Yichu first came out, he looked confused. Seeing so many humans, he reflexively took a defensive stance, which Su Mo quickly suppressed by pressing down on his head.
"Behave, they are all going to be your future brothers and sisters."
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Yang Yichu looked up, and his expression calmed down, but he still stared blankly at the people circling him.
"Is this, that little zombie?" Zhao Changsheng exclaimed in surprise. In her memory, that thing didn’t look like this, and it was even dressed in proper clothes.
Su Mo nodded and patted Yang Yichu’s head, "I cleaned him up, got him colored contacts, and did a little work on his appearance, so he looks almost like a human, right?"
She spoke with a hint of self-satisfaction, but Rong Bai beside her probed tentatively, "Then what does it eat when it’s hungry? It doesn’t eat humans, does it?"
Su Mo shook her head, "It now feeds on Mutant Beasts. As for humans, without my permission, it won’t make a move."
Yang Yichu nodded mechanically, "Listen, to, sister."
"Awesome," Feng Yao and the others, apart from Jianxiong who was giving a thumbs up, were at a loss for words.
Such a young Zombie King, and he couldn’t discern its level, yet Su Mo had tamed it effortlessly. He really couldn’t find any words other than admiration.
"From now on, it can work here carrying plates, officially becoming one of us," Su Mo said, taking a seat and pulling it down next to her, right next to Lu Chen, who remained unfazed.
"As long as it doesn’t harm people, everything is negotiable," Rong Bai said.
In a way, this little Zombie King might even help them fend off some migrating zombie hordes in the future.
"Oh right, I almost forgot, there’s also a dog," Su Mo said as she took the Samoyed out from the System Bag.
The dirty fur was matted together, and its milky white eyes darted around. Once it got a breath of fresh air, its nose twitched voraciously as it caught the scent of many strangers.
It remained as wary as Yang Yichu for a while, but then it started to wag its bald tail and walked over to Lu Chen’s feet, circling around him as if seeking his favor.
"And a Mutant Dog is included as a pet? But why does this dog look so familiar?" Jianxiong stood up and scrutinized the Mutant Dog circling non-stop around Lu Chen, then he realized and pointed at it, "Da, Da Bai? Isn’t this Da Bai, the one raised at the Jiang Residence?"
Su Mo nodded in agreement, "Obviously, it still remembers our scent."
Quite human-like in understanding, she thought.
"Alright, you all sit for a while, I’m going to cook. Tonight we’ll have a good meal," she said, patting Yang Yichu’s head, asking it to stay quietly there with the dog.
"This dog would be great for keeping watch," Jianxiong commented, stroking his chin.
However, Rong Bai shook his head in refusal, "Unless you want to cause panic in the refugee camp, keeping a zombie dog at the door would probably result in no business at all."
