The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 476 - 474: One Rice Hill After Another
CHAPTER 476: CHAPTER 474: ONE RICE HILL AFTER ANOTHER
Lu Chen couldn’t deny it.
Over at Jin Han’s side, the Spiritual Superpower User did not dare to use his superpower freely anymore after being warned by Su Qing, for fear of being killed by the opponent. No one could really help in that case. He valued his life more than the mission.
Su Mo stepped on the hood of a car and nimbly jumped onto it. In front of her, three large vehicles had toppled over, blocking the path of the zombies tightly.
Looking down from above, a small dense pack of zombies were concentrated at the intersection. Behind them, there were three large bungalow warehouses, each with a diameter of about 60 meters and a height of about six or seven meters. Moreover, the doors were tightly closed, obscuring the conditions inside.
Lu Chen stood behind her and observed the small wave of zombies below, "No problem."
"Just afraid they’ll cause problems," Su Mo replied.
"Let’s have two Power Superpower Users come and move the cars first," Fang Qing hadn’t gone up yet but only called for two Power Superpower Users to move the vehicles.
A person from Jin Han’s side also came out, and together with Jianxiong, the four of them easily moved a large grain truck to the side. Su Mo and Lu Chen, standing on top, remained steady.
The two jumped down and quietly stayed behind to watch the four men move the vehicles one by one.
By the time they got to the last one, the zombies’ roaring became clearer. Almost everyone readied themselves for battle at the same time.
Fang Qing specifically glanced back at Lu Chen, curling her finger around the hair in front of her chest and beckoning, "Play your part and let’s take down the grain storage together."
The last truck was only moved halfway before zombies started to emerge quickly.
Instantly, a variety of superpowers and bullets were launched towards that truck.
Jianxiong stood right at the opening. He hardened his skin immediately—the bullets that came from behind, as if by intention, would have pierced his heart precisely if not for his quick skin hardening.
After all, he was a special forces soldier. How could he miss the fleeting intent to kill?
Jianxiong’s body swelled up instantly, and he ran back to Su Mo and Lu Chen’s side. His large, copper bell-like eyes dangerously swept through the crowd around Fang Qing. Unfortunately, these people had also struggled through the apocalypse. He couldn’t precisely identify who shot the gun.
But, something was definitely off.
He intended to bend down to warn Lu Chen, only to notice that the man had already sensed it and gave him a look.
Jianxiong relaxed, grabbing a Level 2 Zombie that was running fast, and in one swift move, he tore its head off and threw it towards Fang Qing’s side.
The head that landed at her feet did not faze Fang Qing. She knew that Rong Yuan was lurking in the shadows. These people were done for.
Su Mo wasn’t sloppy either—it would be foolish not to kill zombies when she had the chance.
She didn’t stray far from Lu Chen, making skillful use of the Tang Blade with her left hand. Her knife skills were not weak as she quickly weaved through the crowd of zombies that surged out, reaping them.
The person behind Fang Qing tried to ambush several times, but the bullets couldn’t accurately target Su Mo.
Jin Han’s people were very cohesive too, hardly ever straying from one another. Their teamwork in killing zombies was remarkably fast.
In just a few minutes, this small wave of nearly a hundred zombies was dealt with.
A few hundred meters of concrete road was piled with zombie corpses, emitting waves of stench.
Jin Han and Su Qing each left five people to guard the entrance.
The rest stepped over the bodies and walked inside.
Three large bungalow warehouses, made of some unknown material, were so soundproofed that Su Mo couldn’t hear a thing through the walls, leaving it unclear whether the insides were safe or harboring hidden dangers.
Fang Qing’s superpower swept over the entire grain storage area. Soon, she proposed, "Let’s each search a bungalow warehouse."
Su Mo promptly rejected the idea, speaking first, "That’s too dangerous. Let’s all go together, one by one. After all, we’ve taken care of all the zombies already, what is there to fear?"
Fang Qing’s gaze flickered but she didn’t object, "Of course."
The first bungalow warehouse had a blue concrete slab on top and was heavily sealed with high walls. A two-meter-wide door served as the entrance, with only a keyhole above it.
Jianxiong tried to push the door and found it wouldn’t budge. Scratching his head, he said, "Do you guys want a gentle touch, or should we just tear down this entire wall?"
If he really put his strength to it, he would likely punch a hole straight through the wall.
"Miss Fang, are there many zombies inside?" Su Mo asked cheerfully, turning her head with a smile.
"Just break down the door," Fang Qing declared confidently—even if one ignored the fact that she had subtly taken a few steps back, Su Mo might have believed her.
If the situation was anything like the small group of zombies outside, why would they hesitate to enter? This indicated there might be something big inside.
Lu Chen exchanged glances with Jianxiong, who, upon receiving the signal, punched the door with the bone spur protruding from the back of his hand. The tough spur pierced through the door and was wedged inside. Like two giant forks, it yanked the door open, exploding the thick bolts that were anchoring the door.
Gradually, the gap between the wall and the door widened, and the scene inside slowly became visible to everyone.
Mountains of rice, as big as small hills, were covered with moisture-proof tarpaulin, creating one mound after another within the bungalow warehouse.
Su Mo didn’t lead the way inside but stood at the entrance to survey the scene. She felt a surge of joy as she noticed the excellent moisture-proofing of the warehouse, the absence of water accumulation on the ground, and that the air didn’t feel damp. It was highly likely that the rice was not spoiled and remained well-preserved.
The only thing that disappointed her was a half-collapsed mound of rice near the inside, where she caught sight of dried blackened bloodstains on the ground.
There were indeed zombies inside.
Su Mo shot a glance at Fang Qing, who was now safely sheltered among her own people, and sneered inwardly, "Of course, there was deception."
She flicked her Tang Blade and asked purposefully, "Miss Fang, is there something going on inside? Why don’t you send your people in to scout first? If there’s trouble, we’ll come in to help."
Fang Qing ordered two superpower users to enter with her usual composure.
Apart from the collapsed mountain of rice, the vast bungalow warehouse was very clean.
Lu Chen’s hands were already charged with superpower, ready for any emergency that might arise.
However, to everyone’s surprise, the two superpower users reached the base of the collapsed mound without any incident. They gestured to the others and shouted, "It’s safe!"
Su Mo turned and gave Fang Qing a meaningful look. Was she putting on an act?
Upon hearing it was safe, everyone entered the warehouse, their eyes widening in awe at the sight of the mountains of rice that now seemed many times more valuable than gold.
"We’ve hit the jackpot, we won’t have to worry about running out of rice anymore haha!"
"With so much rice, if we transport it back, it could last for years!"
People from Fang Qing’s group occasionally expressed their amazement, and even Jin Han and his teammates stood dumbfounded on the spot, feeling the pangs of hunger for the first time and their faces filled with longing.
