The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 478 - 476: Dual Element Zombie
CHAPTER 478: CHAPTER 476: DUAL ELEMENT ZOMBIE
Although there was also food inside, the canvas was piled high with corpses, and the sight of their ghastly faces, with maggots crawling around in heaps on the ground, was truly nauseating.
"Can you see what’s under the canvas?" Lu Chen asked her, looking down. He could also see in the dark, but his vision had long been surpassed by Su Mo.
Su Mo increased her line of sight distance, observing the ground and whispered, "A floor full of maggots and severed limbs, I didn’t see any rice. The food under the canvas is probably packed in burlap sacks."
"Go in," Lu Chen said in a calm voice.
After hardening his entire body, Jianxiong bent over and said to the two of them, "My vision isn’t great, and it’s very dark inside."
Su Mo: "Let’s go in first to see if there’s a lighting system. The gate is usually inside."
Fang Qing was getting a bit impatient. Twirling a lock of hair in front of her chest, she said, "How is it? Have you decided, powerhouses? I will assign a squad to you."
Lu Chen looked back at her expressionlessly and ordered Jin Han, "Follow them, and there’s another granary. Make sure to secure our share of it."
With these words, he was leaving the three to handle the trouble. Knowing that both Lu Chen and Su Mo were very strong, Jin Han obeyed the command, gathered his companions to stand in front of Su Qing, and revealed a big golden tooth, "Well then, Miss Fang, please assign some people. We’ll go check out the next granary ahead."
Whatever Fang Qing was going to do outside was no longer of concern to Lu Chen; he proceeded with Su Mo and Jianxiong, ascending the stairs and stepping inside.
Following right behind them were five people with formidable superpowers sent by Fang Qing.
Those few gazes firmly locked onto the backs of the three, revealing a murderous intent that Su Mo could feel even without turning around.
But she continued without hurry, accurately avoiding some limbs and surveying the surroundings, with Jianxiong steadfastly close by her side.
In the silent granary, the air was so foul it made one want to vomit, and the corpses all over the floor were, in every way, extremely abnormal.
After quickly reviewing the condition of these corpses, Su Mo started analyzing, "Most of these corpses are shattered, either eaten directly by something or had their necks twisted or heads crushed."
Lu Chen was close beside her, his face stern and features tense, "There’s a monster."
Su Mo: "Jianxiong, if you walk straight on your left hand, there won’t be any obstacles, and there’s a gate at the end of the wall. Pull the lever to see if there’s electricity."
"Got it."
They were now close to the middle of the granary, where no light penetrated. Looking back at the door, only a few of Fang Qing’s people were standing there.
Suddenly, a very fast shadow flashed over from above them, and Lu Chen, on alert, raised his head and quickly pulled Su Mo to him.
In the darkness, from the highly-sealed ceiling, there came a series of thumping sounds, like the noise of footsteps from the floor above in an apartment building, except the pace was very quick. There was also a breeze that swept over as it passed, carrying heat that scalded Su Mo’s scalp.
"What is that?" She looked up, touching her scalp, which had suddenly become frighteningly hot.
"Is it a Fire Zombie?"
Lu Chen frowned, its figure was too fast, and even he couldn’t capture it accurately in this pitch darkness.
"Don’t leave my side, this thing is high-level,"
Su Mo would never joke around with her own life. She simply turned her head and focused on Jianxiong, who had already reached the gate she had mentioned.
At that moment, Lu Chen suddenly felt a strong sense of crisis. He tore open Space with one hand and, grabbing Su Mo, teleported away from where they had just been standing.
When they reappeared, they were atop a mountain of corpses filled with grain. The spot they had just vacated now bore three distinct claw marks on the ground, with smoldering traces and wisps of smoke rising from them.
The five people who had been following behind them were startled and quickly adopted battle-ready stances, spreading out in all directions.
"Jianxiong! Is it done?" Su Mo couldn’t help but shout at Jianxiong. Seeing him struggle with the gate for too long, she zoomed in her vision and shouted, "The middle! Count the third from the left! Lift it up!"
Jianxiong immediately complied, and this time he accurately pulled down the gate. The lights finally came on in the pitch-black granary, but only for a few seconds before plunging back into darkness. Then the lights flickered on and off repeatedly.
The flickering light was incredibly uncomfortable to the eyes, but the upside was that the people inside the granary could now see the horrific situation around them, even more gruesome than a chaotic scene from hell.
At the same time, Su Mo spotted the monster hiding in the darkness, perched in a corner on the ceiling.
It crouched naked, hands placed close to its feet in a dog-like posture. Its pale pupils fixed on them, the skin on its face completely torn away, revealing only bloodied flesh underneath, and bulging, pallid eyes. The creature’s head was covered with thick hair, steaming at the ends, causing water droplets to form immediately on the walls.
"What kind of monster is that?"
Below, that was the question of the five people.
Lu Chen quickly made a precise judgment, "Level 5 Fire Zombie."
Su Mo said, "I guess it had Fire Power at the beginning of the doomsday, but it ended up dying here and turned into a zombie, using all these corpses as food to evolve."
Lu Chen agreed. Beneath the intermittently bright and dim lighting, Jianxiong was finally able to see the terrifying scene inside the storage facility. He ran down the mountain of corpses and looked up, shouting, "What are you two doing standing on top of that pile of corpses?"
Su Mo glanced down at the zombies underfoot. The sight seemed rather disgusting.
However, now was not the time to be preoccupied with that. The zombie on the rooftop opened its gaping mouth and let out a ferocious roar at them, revealing its extraordinarily sharp teeth. Its bare body then oozed flames from its ashen skin as it suddenly spewed several fireballs at them.
The people below scattered to avoid the attack, while Lu Chen once again wrapped his arm around Su Mo’s waist and took her to the ground.
Against a Level 5 Fire Zombie, Lu Chen was confident about killing it despite the level suppression.
The only exception now was the five people.
Without any spare time to think, several fireballs were hurled at them again from above. Su Mo and Lu Chen split up to dodge, while the zombie leaped from the roof, emitting a terrifying roar and focusing on Lu Chen as its prime enemy, lunging at him with all four limbs.
An Ice Shield materialized in front of him, blocking the strike, after which he immediately activated his Space superpower, attempting to sever the zombie’s leg, but it was incredibly fast and vanished from sight in an instant.
Su Mo drew her Tang Blade, her right hand turned into a Wooden Shield as she stood alongside Jianxiong, shouting loudly, "It’s Dual Element! Be careful!"
Speed and Fire Element were no simple matter.
