The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 572 - 570: I... grew taller!
CHAPTER 572: CHAPTER 570: I... GREW TALLER!
Li Qian sat nearby, puzzled, "How did you know the time so precisely?"
"The system told me," Su Mo shifted on the bed, trying to get off, but Lu Chen held her shoulder and pushed her back down, "Stay here and rest until you’re better."
Zhao Changsheng also persuaded, "Yes, little sister, rest here for now."
Li He added, "If anything happens here, I can take care of it immediately."
Everyone was treating her like a fragile panda, so Su Mo had no choice but to lie back down. Finally, she added, "By the way, has the Beast Tide left yet?"
Rong Bai wheeled himself in, relieved to see Su Mo unscathed, and said, "Most of them have gone, a small part remains, but we can manage them. Just rest well these two days."
Su Mo’s world was now pitch black; she couldn’t see anything. She turned her head, feeling her hand grasped by a cold, small hand, "Yang Yichu?"
"Sis, sister," it stood by her bed, its pale eyes somehow conveying a dreary mood.
Li He was shocked to see Yang Yichu missing a hand and took a while before asking, "Is it a zombie? Did it summon those zombies outside?"
Jianxiong nodded, "Yes, my sister brought it from the outside."
Su Mo, guided by her senses, reached toward Yang Yichu and indeed felt an empty sleeve and the rough, sharp bones at the shoulder, almost injuring her hand.
She moved her lips, "I’m sorry you got hurt."
Yang Yichu, showing no sadness for his decomposing arm, instead said, "It’s already, rotting, sister, don’t worry."
Its clumsy attempt at consolation left Su Mo even more lost for words.
"Li He, can you call a doctor to stitch up its arm?"
Li He looked at Yang Yichu and then at Su Mo, eventually responding, "I’ll do it. I’ve been here so many days; I can handle a simple suture."
"Thank you."
Rong Bai wasn’t suited to staying there either, so he greeted them and left to deal with the aftermath of the battle.
Since last night and into this evening, the Beast Tide finally began to recede, no longer targeting the refugee camp as a primary objective.
Su Mo, not wanting her friends who had worked hard all day to watch over her, a person with no serious condition, sent everyone away except Lu Chen, who sat alone in the separate medical tent.
With just the two of them left, he brought food from the cafeteria and fed her bite by bite.
Now blind, Su Mo could only accept being fed.
"When my eyes are healed, let’s go outside and find a good location to build a Bunker where we can safely survive the disaster."
Munching on newly made braised pork from the cafeteria, Su Mo’s expression showed satisfaction.
Lu Chen wiped the grease from around her mouth, "Okay."
After eating, Su Mo made room on the bed, inviting him to sleep beside her. Since she couldn’t see, she opened the gift package with her voice command.
[Congratulations on receiving the God Chef Gift Package, Superpower Level +1, Superpower Fusion Liquid +1]
[Would you like to use it now?]
Su Mo was somewhat baffled by these two items because she didn’t understand either of them.
[Yes, use now]
Might as well use everything.
As she finished speaking, the system activated the first gift package item.
Su Mo’s body suddenly rose into the air, and a blinding golden light burst forth, the brilliance almost too much for Lu Chen to keep his eyes open.
She had leveled up again.
He sat on the bed, staring in astonishment at the woman floating in midair.
He hadn’t expected her to upgrade yet again.
She had just reached Level 6 during the Beast Tide.
In just one night, Su Mo, a Level 5 superpower user, had jumped two levels.
She was completely immersed in the sensations of leveling up, innumerable dazzling green lights swirling out from her abdomen and coursing through her entire body, recasting her blood and bones inch by inch. The golden light of speed hovered around her eyes and legs.
Her cropped long hair gradually changed color, and her already delicate and lovely features subtly transformed under the influence of her superpower.
Lu Chen watched the person in midair quietly, with admiration and fascination.
The dazzling light emitted from the tent attracted the gaze of countless superpower users being treated, and the powerful aura spreading from inside the tent was terrifyingly sharp.
This leveling up had taken Su Mo an entire week.
During that time, many people came to see her outside the tent; Yang Yichu, with nowhere else to go, just quietly stood outside the tent, guarding the person inside, and nobody could enter to check the situation.
For Su Mo, it was just like having slept one night, not long at all.
When the golden light faded, she slowly descended back to the bed.
Lu Chen encircled her in his arms, touching her soft, green hair with an odd expression.
As soon as Su Mo woke up, she saw his handsome face; his jaw was slightly rough with stubble, giving him a somewhat disheveled look.
She reached out to touch his face. "How did you end up like this just because you didn’t shave for one night?"
Her eyes had returned to their original black and white, very pretty and clear. Lu Chen felt relieved but helplessly removed her mischievous hand. "You’ve been asleep for a week."
Time stood still for three seconds; Su Mo quickly got up from the bed with his support, astonishingly saying, "A week?"
She looked toward the sliver of light coming through the tent, her eyes dazed.
"You leveled up again, can’t you feel it?" Lu Chen said helplessly as he rubbed the top of her head.
Su Mo then focused her attention on herself. She looked down and saw the messy green hair hanging in front of her chest, incredulously grabbing her own hair. "I turned into green hair?"
Lu Chen nodded with amusement.
Outside, hearing the commotion, Yang Yichu also lifted the curtain and came in. His arm had been barely restored by Li He. Su Mo, feeling sorry for him, invited him over. "I’ll send you to the Treasure Bag to rest."
"Okay."
Yang Yichu hugged her; a flash of white light later, he vanished from the spot.
Su Mo stretched out her hands, truly feeling something extraordinary. Under her mind’s control, her hands transformed into two extremely thick vines.
The Level 6 Crystal Stone was no longer just in her right hand, but had completely merged into her body.
Looking at the dark green vines, Su Mo realized why her hair had changed.
She climbed down from the bed and realized something was off with her line of sight. When Lu Chen stood up, her head reached up to his shoulder. Previously short, she had only reached his chest.
"I... grew taller!" Su Mo looked up at Lu Chen in utter shock; the benefits of growing taller included no more neck pain from looking up at people.
Regarding her growth spurt of ten centimeters, reaching nearly one meter seventy in just a week, Lu Chen commented calmly, "Isn’t that quite good?"
"It’s more than good!" Su Mo tucked her hair behind her ear and found that not only had her hair grown but her legs had elongated as well.
