CHAPTER 590: CHAPTER 588: NO SURVIVORS LEFT

Lu Chen was pressed against the head by a pitch-black gun barrel but showed no panic; because in the next moment, Su Mo aimed right at those eyes, and a head exploded right in front of Jianxiong.

Disgusting brain fluid splashed all over his face. He spat out a few times and then flipped into the helicopter, grabbing a person who was still frantically reaching for a gun at the pilot’s seat.

He lifted the person from the seat, intending to throw him down.

But the pilot, in a panic, fired a shot at the roof of the helicopter, piercing through the steel plate of the roof and through the wing, causing thick black smoke to billow out.

The entire helicopter began to plummet downwards.

Li He had been watching the battle from inside the vehicle. He couldn’t hold back anymore and immediately left the car. He rushed towards Jianxiong’s direction, only to see the helicopter crash into the ground with him inside, a roaring fire bursting into the air with the explosion.

His heart clenched, and he could no longer hide the worry on his face as he ran madly towards the scene.

Nobody noticed him because the battle was nearing its end.

What of three Level 6 superpower users? Under Li Qian’s mental control, they couldn’t block it. Even sophisticated weapons had no effect.

Over by Lu Chen’s side, four or five people were mercilessly impaled on ice spikes. Li Qian and Zhao Changsheng teamed up to kill a Level 6 Fire Ability User. On Su Mo’s side, the superpower of a Gold Element Superpower User held in her hand gradually weakened. Under his horrified gaze, the Tang Blade stabbed numerous times at his neck finally penetrated through.

With a squelch, the person struggled futilely before dying completely.

A single level made a world of difference. Together with Su Mo’s "cheat," it was hard for them not to die.

Putting away the blade, she looked around at the corpses and mercilessly extracted the Crystal Stones from these people.

"Level 6 Crystal Stones, it looks like the harvest is pretty good."

Over by Li He, standing in front of a cloud of gunpowder, his eyes fixed on the direction of the helicopter crash. When a silver hand reached out first, he breathed a huge sigh of relief and rushed over to help him out, "Are you hurt?"

His slightly concerned inquiry made Jianxiong feel like he was floating. He was about to say he was fine when the helicopter behind him started crackling, about to explode a second time. Without thinking, he dashed forward and caught the person in his arms; the fierce explosion sent countless fragments against his protective shield.

The man’s hot body temperature and sturdy embrace left Li He stunned; around his ears was the rapid beating of his heart, and above him was his hurried breathing.

When they were safe and Jianxiong let him go, he still hadn’t come back to his senses yet.

The rugged and resolute face was right in front of him, asking with concern, "Are you alright? Stunned silly?"

Li He came to his senses, coughed lightly in a slightly awkward manner, scanned him up and down to make sure he was uninjured, and said, "Let’s go join the others; they have finished dealing already."

By the time the two regrouped, all the corpses had been stripped of their Crystal Stones and handled.

Su Mo stood before those bodies and spoke softly, "I wonder what kind of people they will send next time."

Seeing her emotionless demeanor, Zhao Changsheng immediately spoke to comfort her, "No matter who they send, we will always be together."

Su Mo smiled back at her, "Of course, we have to keep living properly."

Lu Chen rubbed the top of her head, "Let’s go, we still have to cross this stream of cars."

Not minding the ruins behind them, the group once again navigated through the abandoned flow of cars.

The road remained inexorably congested, and by sunset, they were still stuck within the massive flow of vehicles, having not moved an inch.

Once Li Qian confirmed that they couldn’t leave tonight, Jianxiong jumped off the vehicle and piled all the decrepit vehicles to the sides, making space in the middle where they set up camp for the night.

They didn’t bother with tents, each person had a sleeping bag, and dinner was a lavish meal Su Mo pulled out of her bag while Lu Chen used a flashlight for lighting as he confirmed their route again.

They still had a long way to their destination.

Jianxiong couldn’t help but feel regretful, "I jumped on that helicopter thinking I could hijack it, but the pilot shot through the roof. We could have moved faster."

Su Mo handed him a sausage and said, "No worries, having a vehicle is already good enough; let’s just hope the bunker is still intact."

"Boom!"

During their conversation, a tremendous explosion erupted not far from them and on the side of the highway in a small town.

The sound resonated back to them, and bright flames soared into the sky.

Li Qian stood up and looked in that direction, "Humans, there must be mutant creatures invading."

Zhao Changsheng remarked, "Making such a commotion, are they trying to attract all the zombies in that small town?"

"Not sure, but that city just gave me an idea; taking that route might be better than staying stuck here on this endless road," Li Qian turned and said.

Su Mo stretched and lay down in her sleeping bag after eating, "Let’s sleep now. It’s not too late to descend tomorrow morning after the zombies there have scattered. If we go now, we won’t be sleeping tonight."

Having fought the entire day, everyone just wanted to have a good sleep, and Li Qian no longer focused on the nearby commotion, dragging his sleeping bag beside Zhao Changsheng to lie down.

In the darkness, the only light came from the stars in the sky.

Beneath that fire’s glow was a chaotic scene of people running and zombies scattering everywhere.

The chaos lasted the entire night, and by morning, after having breakfast, Su Mo’s group saw only rising thick black smoke in the area, and within Li Qian’s range of spiritual power, he spotted a few human figures and some scattered zombies.

"It’s about time; we can move past that area now."

He reminded everyone to gather their belongings, crossed the highway, and descended onto the barren land below. This area should have been a river, but for some reason, despite the prolonged heavy rain, it hadn’t filled.

Su Mo stepped on a piece of hard, worn stone, walking slowly.

Across the river, the small town shrouded in gun smoke seemed devoid of any human presence, obviously being in hiding.

The moment Su Mo and the others set foot on this territory, Li Qian immediately sensed several watchful eyes on them; he subtly alerted his companions without making any further sound.

Of course, they didn’t want to cause trouble, but that didn’t mean the other party felt the same.

A crossbow bolt landing near Lu Chen’s feet caused everyone to stop in unison, Su Mo quickly pinpointed a person hiding by a window.

They stood still, but soon, a group of seven or eight women emerged from the building, each armed with a weapon and encircling them with a fierce stare.
