The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 592 - 590: The Skin-Peeling Zombie
CHAPTER 592: CHAPTER 590: THE SKIN-PEELING ZOMBIE
He aimed his target at the base of a Technology Building.
"It’s right down there, I can’t distinguish exactly what creature it is right now."
Su Mo walked slowly, her vision zooming in, the roller shutter door leading underground was tightly closed, with a truck parked at the slope’s edge, and the entrance was so clean that no zombie corpses could be seen—clearly someone had deliberately cleaned it up.
The men at the top of the building stood in front of the giant glass window, watching their movements.
"Can you tell what level the superpowers are?"
"I can only make out two Level 5 superpower users; the others are unknown."
"They’re heading towards our warehouse."
"Release the Degenerates, these people are definitely here to steal food."
The group stood in front of the basement door, and Jianxiong knocked, the metal door making a noise. Other than that, there was no other sound.
"Those guys really have patience, they seem to have a lot of confidence in the monsters they keep," Zhao Changsheng said with disdain.
Su Mo took two steps back and spoke directly to Jianxiong, "Since they don’t want to show themselves, let’s just break the door and find them."
Jianxiong wound up his big fist and smashed it down on the door. The metal roller shutter was instantly punched with a big hole, and inside the fist-sized hole it was pitch black, with nothing visible.
Li Qian, noticing the approaching dots hiding in the dark through his mind, said, "They’re coming."
Jianxiong couldn’t help but speed up his punching action, his arm turned silver and directly tore apart the shattered metal sheets, quickly making a hole large enough for a person to enter.
He took the lead and crawled in; it was very dark inside, so Lu Chen took out several flashlights and handed them out.
In the small illuminated area, the group could only make out a lot of old cars and some corpses.
This building seemed to have a water leak somewhere, the sound of dripping water echoing loudly in the dark and silent garage.
Without the need for the light from the flashlight, Su Mo was able to catch the fleeting movement of a crawling creature in front of her.
It didn’t look like a dog nor a zombie. What was it?
It moved too fast, but in her eyes, the scene slowed down, allowing her to see the monster’s appearance clearly.
Su Mo frowned and said, "It’s like a skinned frog with a human head on top."
Her description was a bit disgusting. Zhao Changsheng concentrated and produced a Thunder Whip in his hand, sweeping it fiercely around them.
Sparks flew as they scraped the ground, instantly lighting up the surroundings.
The dark sights in the garage were illuminated by the light, allowing them finally to see those things clearly.
Before they knew it, four or five crawling creatures had surrounded them.
Jianxiong’s vision was pitch black. He could only protect Li He in front of his chest as much as possible, "Don’t step out of my line of sight, it’s too dark here."
"Understood."
"Scratch scratch."
The noise of claws scraping on the roof of the cars was getting closer to them.
Su Mo was not flustered. Watching the limb-crawling creature with only a human head for a skull swiftly charge towards them, the Tang Blade appeared in her hand. In the blink of an eye, she disappeared from her original spot, confronting the monster head-on.
The skinned zombie with a thin membrane that greatly resembled a skinned frog moved quickly. Its claws protruded due to skeletal mutations, and when it swiped down and struck Su Mo’s wooden shield, it left a deep scratch.
Her Tang Blade shot out from behind the shield, precisely stabbing into its head.
Lu Chen rapidly froze the area around them, bringing frost down upon the region. Countless ice crystals formed in the air, and without even moving, he stood as two mindless, crawling zombies charged at him and got impaled on the ice, turning into honeycombs.
On the first underground level, the surveillance cameras captured everything and uploaded it to the computers on the top floor.
The person sitting in the office chair frowned and asked, "Who are these people?"
Someone answered cautiously, "Could they be help called in by Mu Rou?"
After all, they had forcibly taken a few women from the neighboring district just yesterday.
It had been too long since their last release, and their den of only men was on the verge of madness.
"They must be after the loot we took yesterday, fortunately, we’ve already moved it all to the top floor."
"Release all the Degenerates, and find Dr. Zhu. Have him release everything on the second floor."
"Yes."
The Technology Building, originally a research and development site for a pharmaceutical company, housed not only thousands of medicinal products but also a few surviving scientists. Forced to submit to the invaders, they used genetic mutations to create their own monsters.
Li Qian’s spiritual power burst forth, precisely revealing the positions of the monsters. Jianxiong’s body swelled, and Bone Spurs protruded from the surface of his fist as he delivered a heavy punch to a monster about to pounce on his face.
The sharp Bone Spurs pierced directly through its head.
Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Whip was of great help, brightening their field of view from time to time, allowing them to clearly see and avoid attacks.
This level had approximately eight or nine monsters, all cleanly slain by them.
Su Mo sheathed her Tang Blade and looked around but could not find the supplies Mu Rou had mentioned.
"Didn’t she say it was underground? There’s nothing here."
After almost completing a circuit of the parking lot, they found no sign of supplies. Li Qian looked up at the leaky ceiling and said softly, "It’s probably above us. This pharmaceutical technology company doesn’t have just one underground level."
His spiritual power passed through the ceiling above and enveloped the area.
Zhao Changsheng stood in front of an elevator that was still functional, waving at them from a distance, "There’s an elevator here we can take up."
In the darkness, the slowly descending elevator carriage caught their attention.
Lu Chen asked, "Is there something inside?"
Li Qian shook his head and also approached the elevator, "No, it’s empty."
As soon as he finished speaking, the elevator dinged and slowly opened.
Under the cold white fluorescent light, the carriage’s metal walls were clean and showed no signs of anything unusual.
Su Mo walked inside, looking up at the ceiling camera, "We’re being watched again, huh."
Just as she finished speaking, an Ice Blade shot out from beside her, lodging in the surveillance camera.
After a buzz of electricity, the camera feed was completely cut off. The elevator slowly rose from -2, with all other buttons locked, leaving only the one for -2 active.
Li Qian announced, "There are no fewer than ten zombies at the door."
Lu Chen quickly formed an Ice Element shield in front of the door.
"Ding."
Before the elevator doors even opened, they could already hear the distinct screams of the zombies from outside.
As a crack appeared, several sharp claws instantly reached through the gap, scratching and clawing.
