The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 595 - 593: Rescuing People
CHAPTER 595: CHAPTER 593: RESCUING PEOPLE
Su Mo looked at the tightly closed advanced aluminum and steel door, exchanged a glance with Lu Chen, then turned her gaze to the exceptionally striking man who had joined the battle.
He exuded a murderous aura, a gun in each hand, making him very noticeable in the crowd.
He was a rare Fire Element Level 6 Superpower User but for Su Mo and Lu Chen, he no longer posed a challenge.
The battle here was left to Zhao Changsheng and the others, while the two walked up to the tightly sealed door. It was well fortified, but through the giant glass windows on either side, one could see the busy figures in white lab coats and an alluring array of medicines.
The people inside had noticed Su Mo and her team’s arrival early on, and someone had written "Save us" on a piece of paper and stuck it to the window.
Lu Chen didn’t even intend to forcefully break through that door, instead signaling the people on the other side to step back. He then covered the glass window with his hand, and the moment Cold Ice spread from his fingertips, the entire bulletproof glass was iced over.
Then, two Ice Blades were thrust into the bulletproof glass, which could withstand bullets, and easily pierced through. In an instant, the entire pane of glass collapsed.
The commotion here immediately drew the attention of the group still engaged in battle who instantly turned their heads.
Hua Nong was caught off guard for a moment by Li Qian’s control; Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Whip instantly bound his waist, and the vigorous current made him lose control of his lower body amidst the sparks.
His eyes bloodshot, he conjured a vast, tumultuous sea of inverted flames above everyone’s heads, from which countless fireballs plummeted.
Lu Chen looked back, tore open a Space rift with one hand in front of Jianxiong and the others, immediately transferring them to a safe area. However, this indiscriminate attack set many of Hua Nong’s own people ablaze.
The glass door was breached, and the doctors in white lab coats ran out, tremblingly asking, "Have you come to rescue us?"
Lu Chen didn’t respond to their question but tore open another Space rift in front of them and Teleportated directly in front of Hua Nong, his hands covered in Cold Ice, grasping Hua Nong’s flame-bathed hands.
The moment his arm was Ice Sealed, Hua Nong’s eyes widened in disbelief as he exclaimed, "A Level 7 Superpower User!"
He couldn’t have been mistaken about the terrifying pressure. When did a Level 7 Superpower User appear here?
"Spare me!" He had just pleaded for mercy when Su Mo chopped off his iced arm with a blade.
Hua Nong fell to the ground in agony, "Where on earth did you come from!"
Su Mo looked down at him with a smile hooking at the corner of her mouth, "Have you been experimenting on humans? And kidnapping women?"
Hua Nong’s underlings were mostly dead, and the ones barely alive were quickly smashed to death by the women Su Mo had rescued using the ashtrays from the tables.
This team was all High-level Superpower Users, which filled Hua Nong with despair. Coming up against such a formidable force was no easy feat.
Because of the pain in his arm, he couldn’t even utter a complete sentence. Su Mo didn’t expect him to say anything; after all, the researchers behind them would answer all her questions.
Just as her blade was about to neatly plunge into his head, Hua Nong’s remaining good hand pulled out a remote from his pocket and pressed it with a crazed look in his eyes, "If I die, none of you will leave here alive!"
Su Mo frowned and with a swift thrust, she punctured his head thoroughly. As she withdrew her blade, she caught the admiring gazes of the kidnapped girls.
Turning her eyes to the array of medicine bottles behind the shattered glass window, Su Mo’s eyes sparkled, "Lu Chen, let’s empty out this pharmaceutical company."
The man stepped inside before her, and Su Mo was in no hurry. She walked up to the researchers, "Those oddly-shaped zombies and dogs downstairs, did you create them?"
Having witnessed her abilities, they dared not tell the truth and hesitated after exchanging glances.
Su Mo pointed to the seat where Hua Nong had been sitting, "You don’t need to worry, I won’t harm you. I just hope you can tell the truth."
Everyone found a chair to sit down, and only when they had calmed down did someone dare to speak, "We were forced. We mixed some medicine and fungi with already mutated humans to turn them into Self-Destruction and regenerators. Although their attack power isn’t very high, they are still difficult to defend against. Hua Nong and the others used these monsters... to acquire a lot of resources."
Su Mo raised her eyebrows, "Why can those dogs understand your simple commands? Is it because of the medicine?"
The person nodded, "It doesn’t last long and has a time limit. They can only obey simple orders because the medicine is unstable and can go crazy at any time."
"How many such creatures are there in this building?"
"Every floor except the top floor has them."
The smile at the corners of Su Mo’s mouth faded, and she stared at them intently, "I will have someone escort you to the refugee camp, to become our researchers and help us, how about that?"
"To create those monsters again?" The people couldn’t help but cry out in alarm: "I don’t want to do this kind of thing ever again!"
Su Mo shook her head, "Not exactly. There are tens of thousands of survivors in the P-city refugee camp. Since you are engaged in pharmaceutical research, you should be able to help develop some medicine that can suppress the virus in the short term, right?"
The task of saving people was of course unopposed by them; they were the scientific elite in their field. If they were given a good environment to work in, they might indeed be able to develop a medicine that could temporarily suppress the virus.
Without exception, all the scientific personnel agreed. At this moment, Jianxiong said, "There are so many of them, how are we going to transport them back?"
Su Mo stood up and pulled Zhao Changsheng’s hand, "I have two more vehicles. You and Li Qian take the people back."
They all valued talent, and although Zhao Changsheng wanted to follow Su Mo, he knew the bigger picture was more important and agreed.
During the few moments of conversation, Lu Chen had already cleared out the inside of the facility, taking all the instruments and medicines as he stepped out from a pile of glass shards, "Let’s go."
Su Mo glanced at the now-empty large warehouse behind him, a smile in her eyes.
They all gathered at the elevator entrance. There were a lot of people and they needed to split into two groups, using both the left and right elevators.
Su Mo and Lu Chen each watched over a group, with Zhao Changsheng and Li Qian following Su Mo, while Jianxiong and Li He took the other elevator with Lu Chen.
The elevators, filled with people, slowly descended.
The cold light in the elevator made everyone hardly dare to breathe loudly. They all knew that except for the top floor, there was no safe place. Who knows what Hua Nong had released.
Su Mo held a Tang Blade in her hand, standing at the front. Her ears twitched, and she suddenly looked up, staring intently at the top of the car, and whispered, "Get down."
Something was scraping down the old iron pipes toward the elevator shaft, heading straight for them.
