CHAPTER 618: CHAPTER 616: YOU WANT TO HURT HER?

She held her stomach and stood up, calling for Bai Shitong, "Go to the hotel and fetch Lu Chen, tell him I’ve taken the bodyguards to the neighboring refugee camp to find Fang Ya."

Su Mo descended the steps, and the two Level 5 superpower users who had been guarding the entrance of the shop immediately followed behind her.

These two had become her dedicated bodyguards during her pregnancy, now inseparable from her.

Leading the two men, Su Mo walked through the commercial street when she encountered someone familiar.

It was Cha Mi.

Standing again in front of the dimly lit shack used for business, dressed thinly, she appeared to be not living well.

She saw her too, and her numb expression instantly received a glimmer of hope, rushing toward her but was immediately stopped by the two bodyguards.

"Lord Su, I was wrong, please let me return to Jin Han’s side."

Cha Mi clung to the sturdy arm that stopped her, tears in her eyes making her look pitiful.

Su Mo did not want to engage with this person any longer, her gaze indifferent as she passed by and casually remarked, "I gave you a chance. You didn’t cherish it, so there won’t be a second one."

Everyone must pay for their choices; it’s the same for everyone. She was compassionate, but it had its limits.

Ignoring the cries of despair behind her, Su Mo crossed the commercial street to the opposite area.

After casually questioning a few soldiers, they led her to the area where ordinary people lived.

Having received the news, Lu Chen, who had been discussing evacuation matters with Rong Bai, couldn’t afford to say more and immediately stood up from his chair and rushed out.

Guided quickly, Su Mo found the tent where Fang Ya was residing, located among a sea of tents, it was empty and emitted an unpleasant odor.

Su Mo stepped back a few steps, just coming out of the tent, when she was approached by two uncleanly dressed ordinary people.

"Are you looking for Fang Ya? She has gone to the shop to work."

"How do I get there?"

"Through that alley over there."

Su Mo nodded but glanced at those two people out of the corner of her eye. She wasn’t naive. Though they hid it well, their shifty gaze confirmed her suspicion of deceit.

She touched her stomach and glanced at the somewhat dark alley, suddenly saying, "I haven’t really been to this side before, let’s roam around a bit."

She ignored that dark alley completely, not stepping into it at all, but turned a corner toward the next street instead.

The superpower user who had been hiding in the alley prepared to capture someone saw his attempt fail but was not annoyed; he just silently stationed himself there.

This side had far fewer people on the street compared to the opposite side; Su Mo recalled that ordinary people here could not move around freely, so those seen on the streets were superpower users with notable presence and some capabilities.

In contrast to the bustling opposite side, this side was quiet and desolate, lacking any sign of human warmth.

Waddling along the road with her protruding belly, Su Mo was undeniably a unique presence. In this world, where many had not seen a pregnant woman for a long time, the extreme harsh conditions deterred people from having children. She was particularly courageous.

The shops here sold either cold weapons or real firearms. Su Mo surveyed the area and feeling bored, was about to head back, when she turned around and bumped into Fang Ya who had come looking for her.

Two bodyguards diligently intercepted anyone attempting to approach Su Mo, not even giving Fang Ya a chance to touch her.

"You... you’re pregnant!" She looked at Su Mo’s swollen belly in utter shock, "It’s only been three months since I last saw you, how could your belly have grown this much?"

Su Mo gently caressed her belly, her eyes and eyebrows softening, "It’s growing quite fast. Does Lady Fang still want to talk?"

"Is this child... Lu Chen’s?"

Su Mo nearly laughed at her words, her gaze becoming cold, "Who else would it be?"

Fang Ya, knowing she was at a disadvantage, stared at the swollen belly for a long time before finally saying, "I just finished working and my hands are a bit dirty with Crystal Stone. Come with me, let’s find somewhere to sit. You can’t sit in my dirty tent now that you’re pregnant."

Su Mo suddenly sighed, "Lady Fang, are you sure you want to take me?"

Fang Ya’s expression was earnest, but Su Mo’s shrewd eyes could not miss the panic and indecision hidden in her eyes. However, she did not refuse the invite, timing it well, as Lu Chen would definitely be here by now.

She had given her several chances, but Fang Ya had failed to grasp any of them, so she really couldn’t blame her for being ruthless.

Fang Ya led the way in front while Su Mo followed with her people, and during this time, Fang Ya cautiously asked, "You haven’t told Chenchen about this, have you?"

Su Mo raised an eyebrow and replied accommodatingly, "I haven’t, but Lady Fang, are you sure you’re not deceiving me?"

Fang Ya suppressed the fear in her heart and shook her head as she walked at the front, "It’s true."

Su Mo’s lips curled up in scorn as she watched Fang Ya’s retreating figure, how could it be true?

She remembered the words she had overheard from Lu Youwei when Lu Jin was a child. He wasn’t someone who would leave loose ends. Lu Chen’s father couldn’t possibly be alive.

These words, she didn’t say out loud. Su Mo always had to follow along and see what Fang Ya was really up to.

The three of them followed Fang Ya and stood again at the entrance of the dim alley where Fang Ya pointed inside, saying, "There’s a restaurant through here. I’ve been working there recently. I’ll take you in to sit down and talk."

Fang Ya took the lead and walked in, her palms were sweating coldly, her expression uncertain, and with glances towards the superpower users hiding in the alley, she only prayed in her heart for Su Mo to come in quickly so her mission would be completed.

She had walked several steps in, but Su Mo stood still at the entrance, not moving. Lu Chen indeed arrived very quickly, bringing a group of soldiers straight to this place.

Seeing her standing firm and safe, he heaved a sigh of relief, and with his soldiers blocking the entrance of the alley, he embraced her shoulders, "Don’t come out alone next time."

Su Mo nodded, pointed at the woman standing stiffly in the alley, and her lips curled in an amused smile, "Lady Fang invited us for tea. Shall we go in and see?"

Lu Chen looked toward the woman in the alley, his eyes growing darker, "Okay."

Fang Ya couldn’t help turning her head back, exclaiming in alarm, "Su Mo, didn’t I tell you not to bring Chenchen here!"

Su Mo shrugged her shoulders, flashing a mischievous smile, "Whether I follow your advice is another matter."

That look of terror was obviously problematic, and Lu Chen released the woman he was embracing, "I’ll go in and take a look."

He left her standing there, entering alone.

The several superpower users already positioned in the alley hesitated to make their move. Lu Chen was very strong, a fact they were all slightly aware of.

The people hidden in the dark corners, how could Lu Chen not notice any of them? The coldness around him grew more intense, even his gaze towards Fang Ya carried a hint of murderous intent, "Do you intend to harm her?"
