Chapter 262: Chapter 262: I’m Here to Warn You
After he learned of the news, he thought the Duke would be heartbroken and would hold a funeral worthy of his status, but there was nothing.
There must be a secret unknown to outsiders here.
“The night you were brought back, Elbert’s people, seeking revenge, carried out a carpet search and execution in Zone 23.”
“Are you saying my elder brother was killed by Elbert’s men? Impossible, absolutely impossible. The Military Academy’s people would surely recognize my brother. Once they knew his identity, they wouldn’t have killed him.”
Celia rejected the speculation in her mind.
It took her a long while to calm down and feign nonchalance before she continued, “Who has visited me at home during my illness?”
The servant looked embarrassed.
“Not a single one?” Celia said, mocking herself, “What about my father?”
“The Duke is very busy.”
“Heh heh…” Celia leaned against the bed, her smile filled with scorn and desolation, causing the servant’s heart to clench with pain.
He knelt on one knee, his right hand over his heart, offering his loyalty.
“Miss, you still have me. I will always be by your side.”
“Really? Armand, will you be loyal to me for life and never betray me?” Celia stared at him piercingly.
“I will,” Armand replied, his gaze burning intensely as he looked at her.
“Heh heh…” Celia laughed coldly, noncommittal. Soon, she closed her eyes, too tired to notice the profound sadness welling up in Armand’s eyes.
After a long time, just when Armand thought Celia had fallen asleep, she spoke again, “Go invite Lance. Tell him I want to see him.”
“Yes.”

Lance arrived surprisingly fast, bringing a gift and using a visit to the sick as a pretext to come to Celia’s room.
Armand went out, closing the door to the room behind him. Lance glanced at the departing Armand before questioning the bedridden Celia, “Was the ambush in Zone 23 staged by you?”
“Have I gone mad? Would I stage such a play with my own life at stake?”
“You are mad.”
Lance spared her no chance to argue and bluntly said, “Normal people couldn’t possibly do such a thing, but you certainly could. Exactly because you leaked the information, the school hasn’t been able to find the real culprit and has pinned it on the Lost Association.”
“It was the Lost Association who did it!”
“It was the Lost Association who did it, but who leaked the information?” Lance’s face, graceful as if divine, showed a hint of anger, “Celia, you can be as crazy as you want, you can treat your own life as worthless, but please stop involving innocent people in the future.”
God knows how many times Lance had thought about coming over to strangle this mad woman.
“No wonder I asked to see you, and you came immediately,” Celia mocked.
“I came to warn you.”
“And what of it?” Suddenly, Celia let out a loud cry, her emotions collapsing in an instant. She screamed in pain and desperation, “I can’t stand it if I don’t do this. I’m in so much pain I can’t breathe. I’ve lost all desire to live. I… I’ve waited so long, but she doesn’t like me anymore. I know it; she’s changed. No no no… she hasn’t changed, she’s still the same, it’s just that she’s come to dislike me. She rejects me, she hates me.”
“But… hah hah ahah… I know now that she still cares about me, just like we did at the start. Deep down, our friendship will never change. Hahaha… I am so happy.”
In the end, heartbroken, she buried her head in the covers and cried out loud.
