CHAPTER 55: LIBRARY [2]

’Only one book?’ Dante examined the book in his hand in confusion.

He searched all the bookshelves, including the ones in the other floors, and couldn’t find anything.

He even gave quick glances to the books which the other people had, but still none of them was about dragons.

This old book was the only book in entire library related to dragons.

’Strange...’

Shaking his head, Dante went to the first floor, sat beside Elizabeth, and started reading.

’Oh, there was more than just the Dragon Palace?"

The dragons owned 15 floating isles. They were floating on different heights from the ground. Politically, the noble rank of a dragon among their peers could be known by the isle they live in.

The lowest isle in height could be easily seen by ordinary eyes, while reaching the highest isle needed hours of flying upward just to be seen.

Among them, the Dragon Palace isle was the second highest isle in height, right after the isle where the current dragon king lived.

’Wait, doesn’t that mean Fafnir was considered a high noble?’ Dante raised an eyebrow: ’Yet they executed his parents—who were high nobles—without hesitation because of the demon bloodline.’

The demon bloodline seemed to be considered a great sin by the dragons. Unfortunately, the book didn’t mention anything about the dragons’ interactions with demons.

’What is this bullshit?’

In fact, it seemed to be giving wrong information about the dragons.

According to it, the dragons were one of the most evil and savage races, even compared to the abyssal races.

’What the hell?’

Everything on the isles was chaotic and disorganised. They preferred muscles over the brain, and the laws were almost non-existent as the strongest could do whatever they wanted without facing consequences.

’Am I reading this right?’

Their mating, which they shamelessly called marriage, was done by domination and primal instincts rather than love and consent. Most of them would leave their partners after mating, and those who stayed were ending up turning their children into tools.

’Yeah, absolute bullshit.’

Even Fafnir showed anger because of this slander.

Maybe the original Fafnir was prisoner for many years of his short life, but before that, he had a family that really cared for him.

Even the elder who caused everything just wanted to help Fafnir back then.

Dante closed the book and returned it to its place before moving to the next kingdoms.

He started with the Holy Kingdom, but he didn’t learn too much, as Elizabeth had told him about it.

While travelling, he had asked her to tell him about the Holy Kingdom. On one hand, he was willing to learn, and on the other hand, she looked less depressed while talking about her homeland.

But thankfully, it still contained some useful information about the Holy Kingdom’s relationships. And surprisingly, it had a neutral relationship with Uldor.

’Why did Uldor declare war suddenly then?’

Maybe just like the dragons, the books that told about the Holy Kingdom might be inaccurate. Unfortunately, that was the best he had at this moment.

He couldn’t just travel to the Holy Kingdom to read a few books there.

’I might find something in Uldor books, though.’

With these thoughts, Dante returned all the books and went to gather all the books around Uldor.

Unfortunately, he found only two.

Dante’s face twitched: ’I have a bad feeling about that.’

Returning behind Elizabeth, Dante started reading.

Uldor was a kingdom ruled by the giants, a race that was basically humans in big sizes.

Their sizes varied from three metres tall to eight metres in some special cases. They were famous as masses of muscles with no brains.

’Yeah, I saw that coming.’

Just like dragon, the books showed the giants as beasts rather than human-like beings, highlighting so many savage traits.

’It might be the truth this time, but I can’t trust them after reading about dragons.’

Just then, Dante found information that caught his interest. It was the story of the current Uldor king, Valor.

’His mother was raped by a titan, an abyssal race that was like giants but larger and more terrifying. Because of Valor’s size, his mother died at his birth. With no family and with an abyssal bloodline, he was almost killed several times by other giants and was later exiled.’

Dante’s eyes suddenly sparkled: ’Somehow, he returned after years and became the king. There are no details of how he achieved that, but the giants seem to be genuinely loyal to him rather than being forced to be loyal. After becoming the king, Valor made Uldor the only place in Terra that allowed all abyssal hybrids to live there!’

That was it.

That was the perfect place for Dante. A place where his race would be just one of many and wouldn’t cause him to face racism. It stated that only hybrids were allowed, and fortunately, Dante was one... even though the other half was a heavenly race.

’And they had to declare war now of all times...’

What were the odds that the only place in this world that might accept him would declare war against another kingdom a few days after his transmigration?

Was it just misfortune at this point?!

’Still, I should keep this kingdom in my mind.’

If the war was solved peacefully or if he had no other way to hide his race, Uldor would be his destination.

And by sensing the horn that was growing from his head, that day might be very near.

’I’ll think about that later.’

Dante shook his head and continued reading.

He moved to a few other kingdoms, studied the paths from Ashton Kingdom to Uldor, and then moved to economy.

Even though he had a sleeping lie detector right behind him, he still had to learn in order to start relying on himself.

The hours passed by rapidly, and before he could realize, it was already night.

Still, he continued reading. His body could stay awake for three or four days before he could feel true urgency to sleep.

After reading the basics of the economy—only in Ashton Kingdom—Dante moved to more interesting topics such as races, rune basics, and alchemy.

Gradually and steadily—his lack of information was being fixed.
