The Cultivator's Reborn to 1970s
Chapter 323 - 278: The Expert Has Arrived
CHAPTER 323: CHAPTER 278: THE EXPERT HAS ARRIVED
It’s almost noon, lunch should be almost ready. The main point is that Ji Feng doesn’t want to spend time with them any longer, and Lan Tian’s return provides him with a perfect excuse.
The host has spoken, and none of the young masters raise any objections. Together, they all walk back, while several old gentlemen are still in the hall. Seeing them return, the old men chuckle.
"You see, I wasn’t wrong, brother. This kid’s been able to stay out until now and return in peace; Lan Tian girl has made a significant contribution."
As they step into the hall, hearing Mr. Ji praising Lan Tian, she’s puzzled by the unexpected commendation, her expression remaining calm and unchanged, while Ji Feng looks proudly touched. Everyone looks at Lan Tian with deeper reverence; who could have guessed that this country girl had such powerful means, even winning Mr. Ji’s favor.
"People are iron, food is steel; let’s go, the meal is ready. Everyone, let’s eat together and taste the vegetables I’ve grown personally to see how they are." Mr. Ji rises and heads toward the dining room, with Ji Feng walking beside him just in case, ready to support him if needed.
"Simple tea and light meals, please don’t mind."
"Today we’re in for a treat, tasting the vegetables grown by our brother."
Old Sir Ye, Mr. Yang, and Mr. Jiao, say nothing but walk to the dining room with their hands clasped behind their backs. Since all the older gentlemen are going, the young descendants follow along to the dining room.
Arriving at the dining room, it indeed is "simple tea and light meals": a table full of vegetarian dishes, with seasoned radish shreds, Mapo tofu, stir-fried chives with eggs, bok choy, eggplant, cucumber, pumpkin, and so on, not a trace of meat, leaving these young masters accustomed to delicacies from land and sea inwardly despondent.
Lan Tian is indifferent, she picks up her bowl and chopsticks, and chews slowly and deliberately.
There are two small vegetable gardens in the mansion’s backyard, planted with seasonal vegetables, and those on the table are probably picked from there, containing a hint of Spiritual Energy, incomparably superior to ordinary grains by many times.
After the Foundation Establishment, cultivators can live without eating, but Lan Tian doesn’t want to stand out with her uniqueness, so she eats slowly, thinking that these still couldn’t compare to the Spiritual Vegetables in her Storage Basin.
The old gentlemen, having endured harder times, savored their radishes and vegetables with gusto, while the second-generation rich could only grimace, swallowing their greens with tears.
Once they start eating, they realize the vegetables actually taste very good, far better than any they’ve eaten before, and they begin to eat enthusiastically, their pace quickening without notice.
After lunch, everyone goes back to their rooms to rest. Once rested, Lan Tian will have to provide an initial consultation for Mr. Ji, while Mr. Yang and Old Sir Ye haven’t achieved their purpose of visiting and will temporarily stay. Mr. Jiao came to meet a sage, yet hasn’t, so he too will remain.
The young can’t seem to stay still, feeling constrained with their elders, convinced their duty is done having met those they were supposed to meet.
Yang Lan and Ye Junying bid farewell to their own grandfathers and also to Mr. Ji, then take their family car with a rumbling sound and leave.
The three old gentlemen remain, and several middle-aged men don’t leave either. Mei Lan hasn’t gone, which leaves the living room suddenly much quieter.
Those who haven’t left are all crucial characters.
After the meal, each holding a cup of tea, Lan Tian takes a sip and recognizes that the tea leaves for brewing come from her. Her Grandpa often asks her for tea leaves, probably for Mr. Ji to drink.
Old Sir Ye, Mr. Yang, and Mr. Jiao are all burning with impatience, but despite the urgency in their hearts, it is of no use; they cannot find the sage themselves. Mr. Ji says nothing, letting Ji Feng assist him back to his room to rest.
After drinking tea, Lan Tian nestled on the sofa and closed her eyes to rest, as soon as Mr. Ji left, Old Sir Ye and the other two clung to Mr. Mo, insisting that he disclose when the esteemed expert would arrive.
"Old Mo, we’ve had a friendship for so many decades, just give us an honest answer, when will the expert arrive? How confident are you on behalf of our families?" Mr. Yang took a sip of tea and looked at Mr. Mo, the two of them having been in the same trench before, their friendship naturally incomparable to what Old Sir Ye and Mr. Jiao had.
Old Sir Ye and Mr. Jiao also looked towards him; they were equally concerned about this issue. All their families were in Mr. Ji’s camp, sharing in glory and decline together, and they were all hoping that Mr. Ji could be cured.
Mei Lan glanced at Lan Tian, who closed her eyes to rest, and quietly sipped her tea.
Mr. Mo took a sip of tea, his face unreadable, and chuckled a few times, "Rest assured, the expert has already arrived."
After saying this, Mr. Mo stopped talking. Seeing his smug expression, Mr. Yang felt an unexplained sense of relief in his heart and stayed quiet, drinking his tea.
Mr. Jiao wanted to ask a few more questions, but seeing Old Sir Ye shaking his head across from him, Mr. Jiao had no choice but to suppress his doubt and anxiously wait.
After enduring a difficult hour’s rest over lunch, Mr. Jiao couldn’t help himself and was about to ask Mr. Mo when the expert would arrive, when Ji Feng went downstairs and invited them to come upstairs. Lan Tian hadn’t been sleeping, she opened her eyes as soon as Ji Feng appeared.
"Grandpa has awakened, please, the elders, come upstairs."
A group of people headed upstairs, with grandchildren Lan Tian and Mei Lan following behind.
The visit was to Mr. Ji’s bedroom, a room of over ten square meters, furnished with a bed, a wardrobe to the right of the bed, and two long benches placed in the space in front of the bed for visitors to sit and rest.
Mr. Ji sat leaning against the headboard reading a book. As the group entered, he placed his book down, his face calm.
"Now that everyone’s here, take a seat."
But who could sit at that moment? Everyone looked at Mr. Mo, waiting for him to explain about the expert.
Ji Feng sat at the headboard, next to Mr. Ji.
Mr. Mo appeared completely calm, and called out to Lan Tian behind him, "Girl, come here."
Old Sir Ye and Mr. Yang’s faces were stern, and Mr. Jiao frowned slightly; everyone turned to look at the girl Mr. Mo had called, opening a path for her to walk in, pondering if there was some mystery about this girl.
Mei Lan, standing behind Mr. Jiao, also turned her eyes towards Lan Tian, her hands unconsciously tightening at her sides.
Lan Tian, composed, walked forward with light steps, slowly making her way to Mr. Mo’s side.
"Old Mo, what do you mean by this?" Having held back all day, Mr. Jiao couldn’t resist stepping out to poke at him, "You’re not planning to have this girl treat Old Ji, are you? Have you gone senile? Where is the expert you spoke of? Surely this girl isn’t the expert you mentioned! You do realize how many people this matter concerns; don’t be childish."
Old Sir Ye didn’t utter a word, but in his heart, he agreed with Mr. Jiao’s words; it was too childish. "Old Mo, this matter is no trivial issue, please reconsider."
Mr. Yang also very much agreed with Mr. Jiao. However, having interacted with Old Mo for so many years, he knew Old Mo’s character. If not utterly sure, he never spoke lightly. One is one, two is two, he never boasts without certainty.
