The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss
Chapter 460 460: Farewell to Descend into the Abyss
"Thank you all for coming to see me off. It's really nice, and I genuinely appreciate it, because it shows I've gathered so many people who care about me," I say to everyone who has gathered.
"As you all know, I'll be heading into the Abyss, so I won't have much contact with this planet for the next few years. It's kind of... sad that I won't be able to look after my daughters or enjoy some peaceful time."
"But I have things to do, power to obtain, and a few goddesses to kill, hahahaha." I say it in a joking tone, even though I'm dead serious, as I sit down on my throne and take a deep breath.
"I'd like each of you here to see this not as a farewell, but just as... a brief time without me to get yourselves organized, learn new things, and enjoy life, because I know full well I can be a bit clingy."
"Unfortunately, this planet doesn't have much more to offer for my power, so I guess... forget it, I'm no good at goodbyes. Eclipsya, Azazel, Lycoris, do you want a hug from mommy before I go?" I ask, spreading my arms.
The three of them immediately run towards me, with Lycoris jumping into my lap, and Azazel and Eclipsya climbing up the sides of the throne to hug me from either side.
"You're all so cute... It's a shame I won't get to see you grow up and become adults... but I'll evaluate everything you've done when I get back, so behave yourselves and take care of your mothers for me! If any smartass tries to mess with them, you know what to do, right?"
"Kill them!" Azazel says with a huge smile.
"Torture them!" Eclipsya says in a more serious tone, but gives an answer I like.
"Baah!!" And Lycoris can't speak yet, but she seems to be saying she'll protect Zephyra.
"Pandora, are you just going to keep doting on your children?" Grimm asks, walking up to me.
"Agh, I know you're there, but unlike the others, you can handle waiting. You're what, millions or billions of years old! You'll be fine even without me here."
"Besides, I'm sure you can enter the Abyss by yourself if you want to." When I say this, she gives a little smirk as Tsukuyomi approaches. I look at her, and she stares back.
"I wish you good luck on your journey." She just says, closing her eyes and giving a slight bow. Then she straightens up and leaves without another word.
"So cold, Tsukuyomi," I say, a bit arrogantly, making her look back at me.
"It's not coldness, Pandora. I challenged you to a duel and lost. I am not being disrespectful; in fact, I am showing my respect as the one who was defeated. Even though I lost, and despite what you did to me after my defeat, I still respect you as one goddess should respect another."
"You yourself said, Pandora, that you don't like it when I'm clingy, and after what happened, I truly don't want to be too close to you." She leaves immediately after, and I just shrug.
'See what you did, Pandora Yandere?! She's afraid of you.' I think to myself with derision, recalling the brutal way Pandora Yandere deals with those she "likes."
"..." Soon, Mikael approaches and looks at my daughters.
"These brats are just like you. Plus, they're strong. Without a doubt, they'll be worthy challenges in the future," Mikael says with interest.
"You can't fight them." I hug Lycoris as her hydra comes running through the throne hall and quickly arrives, climbing onto Lycoris's lap and staring at Mikael.
"Is that a hydra?"
"Mikael, stop looking for things to fight!" I say with seriousness as he rolls his eyes.
"Sure, sure, I'm leaving now. If you're not in the castle, there's no reason for me to stay here, since you, as my wife, are the only one who interests me in this place. I heard a strong monster appeared near the elven forests, and I want to fight it." He says this as he starts to leave.
"You fight-crazy maniac! You can't even say goodbye properly!" I shout before he disappears through the door.
"Daughters, never be like Mikael! A fighting addiction is bad!" I say sternly, and they all nod their heads.
"...Your Majesty, I wish to present to you... my sisters!!" Kaelith quickly grabs my attention as she presents several dozen girls.
"...Oh, they're the failed copies that Veritus..." When I say this, some of them start to cry. Kaelith gets flustered and starts calming some of them down.
"S-Sorry, Your Majesty! My sisters are a bit sensitive about the topic of being copies..." Kaelith says as she starts leading them away.
"It's fine..."
"Your Majesty, I-I have something to tell you..." Freya appears together with Calypso and Aokitsu. Freya looks nervous.
"Yes?" I say while gently stroking Azazel's head.
"When Thalor betrayed you, I..."
"You knew, but you ignored it," I say before she can finish.
"..." She falls silent, and the mood grows heavy.
"...I-I'm sorry..." She just apologizes, bowing.
"Your Majesty, I beg you, please don't do anything to her! Freya trained me, and I can attest that she is very loyal to you!" Aokitsu interjects while Calypso looks confused. I guess she didn't know they were going to bring this up.
"I really don't care." When I say this, Aokitsu, Freya, and most people in the room look at me as if they aren't seeing Pandora, but an impostor.
"...Eclipsya, tell me, what reason would I have for not punishing a sinner who knew about a traitor but didn't tell me?!" I ask Eclipsya, knowing she knows the answer.
"Because that sinner is still useful, and eliminating them isn't as beneficial as keeping them alive and making them work," Eclipsya says proudly.
"Exactly, daughter! You're learning! Now, Freya, you who lead an entire section of my territory and handle many affairs, why the hell would I increase my own workload when I can just leave you to do it?"
"It was already annoying finding a replacement for Thalor to the point I put Aokitsu in charge; I don't need another problem. Of course, if you were planning to betray me, I'd kill you."
"But you're not. You merely omitted that you knew about a traitor due to personal feelings, and that's less relevant to me than your work... why do you think I put you in charge of the most tedious part of the war preparations?" I say it as if she's stupid for not noticing.
"...A-Ah... I..."
"Freya, shut up. Seriously, nobody wanted to hear this crap on my farewell day. You should have said something earlier if you were going to confess. Just continue your work. I truly don't care what you think or don't think, as long as it doesn't affect me."
"Azazel, what do you think of Freya's stupid attitude?!" I ask playfully.
"Stupid! Stupid!! Hahahaha, she doesn't get it! Hiding things is normal! And revealing things needs the right timing!" Azazel speaks with honesty, and I laugh with her.
"Yeah, hahaha, it's not like I didn't already know about it. And you, Aokitsu, worry too much about things that don't matter... Now that that's over, let's drop it. Where are my proper goodbyes?!" I demand a real farewell.
"..." The two look at each other and smile in relief.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. We wish you all the best on your journey to the Abyss," they say in unison.
'Why don't you two just get together and go to bed already.' Everyone notices the romantic vibe between the two. I decide to ignore it and look at Calypso.
"Calypso, you seem down... Is it because of Lilith, right? She was your friend, and you were the one who invited her to the castle... I'm very grateful for that," I say to her.
"Yes... I'm still trying to get over it. Your Majesty, you've grown so much too. You hardly seem like the little girl I once taught..."
"Extremely poorly planned lessons, I might add," I say with a smile. She smiles back and walks away with a wave.
"Mommy, why has Elena changed so much?!" Azazel asks, looking at Elena as she approaches the throne.
"It was... an upgrade, sweetie. Just a sweet little upgrade she received... Do you have something to say to me, Elena?" I ask, feeling a bit... disheartened at the thought of losing touch with her.
Elena was the first person I met in this life after I was reborn. She was also the first person I had sex with, and the first person to take care of me and show she cared.
"I don't think so. You said it yourself, Pandora, this isn't a farewell... I will wait for you for all eternity if I must," she says, and I nod.
"Good..." I see Zephyra in a corner, away from everyone. She's standing still with a full glass in her hand, not really drinking or eating anything. She just looks at me with sadness because I'm leaving.
"Zephyra, come here." I call her over, and she approaches. When she's close enough, I lift Lycoris with my tail, pull Zephyra onto my lap, and place Lycoris in hers.
"I'm going to miss seeing you so much when I'm in the Abyss," I whisper in her ear.
"I-I'll... miss you too," she says nervously as I start talking animatedly with everyone. Several other people have come to talk to me as well.
So I decide to spend my last hour talking with them until I leave for the Abyss, since it will be a long time before I see everyone again.
'In the past, about three years ago, I never, ever thought I'd have people who cared about me like this... Who would have thought...' I truly have gained so much in this short period of time.
I gained power, fame, revenge, and a family. Even though I know family is a weakness, I would never trade it. If time turned back, I'd do everything exactly the same way. I don't regret a single thing I've done.
Even though I know from a human perspective this is "wrong," I couldn't care less, because I'm happy with what I've achieved. But I want even more.
Now that I've gained so much, I want the power to ensure that nothing and no one can ever destroy or affect what is mine. And that is the same power I will use to kill Elysia.
