Weichi Feihong?
Ali barely managed to still her legs that were itching to run away.
Despite spending her days confined to her yard, she was able to glean information of the outside world through some tricks.
Weichi Feihong was originally a chess piece the Emperor used to monitor and provoke Chen Qing, but now it seemed that he had backed down because of some of the cards exposed by her husband.
The figure in the black miasma, was it Weichi Feihong?
It was hard to tell how much time had passed when a figure emerged slowly from the black fog.
Even through the mist, it was clear that it was a very tall person, nearly matching Weichi Peng’s towering stature.
The shadow didn’t step out of the mist but stared intently at Chen Qing through the fog, its pair of crimson eyes glaringly evident.
The sight triggered goosebumps all over Ali’s skin as if she had encountered her ultimate nemesis!
What in the world was that thing?
“How did you find me?” a thick voice came through, significantly different from Weichi Feihong’s usual tone.
The words seemed laborious to pronounce and clearly struggling to repress something.
“This morning, I had Chen Ying monitor from the sky and noticed this black fog.
I speculated that Lord you might be here,” Chen Qing answered.
“Do you know what this black fog is?” Weichi Feihong asked sternly.
“It’s something inside the General, used to shield from the sunlight,” Chen Qing responded.
“You do know…” Weichi Feihong sat down slowly.
“Why can’t other beings like me do the same as I?”
Chen Qing: “Because their rank is not high enough!”
“Oh?”
“General, you possess the Celestial Roc Bloodline, an exceptional vessel, which naturally allows the thing inside you to grow faster.
I don’t know what method you used to suppress it from controlling you, but some of its abilities will not change once it grows.”
Chen Qing looked up at the sky as he spoke, “It fears sunlight, it dreads high temperatures; you must know this, General, or else you wouldn’t treat your Personal Soldiers in such a way…”
Weichi Feihong’s emotions visibly fluctuated at the mention of Personal Soldiers, and his gaze toward Chen Qing grew increasingly ferocious, causing Ali to retreat repeatedly.
But Chen Qing could withstand the other’s menacing intent.
With divine protection, no physical object could suppress him mentally, not even the ultimate form of that thing in the mist.
The two fell silent for more than a dozen breaths, and finally, Weichi Feihong initiated, “Does Lord Chen have any idea how many existences like me are in that fog?”
“I don’t know…” Chen Qing shook his head.
“Over ten million households!” Weichi Feihong smiled revealing his teeth.
“I went into the fog earlier.
They swam over from the water.
If it weren’t for that strange fog obstructing them, Jiangnan would turn into Inferno in an instant!”
“It won’t block them for long…” Chen Qing shook his head.
“The reason those things can’t come out is because the fog permanently turns several exits into daylight.
If not for your ability to produce black fog out of nowhere, they couldn’t get out.
However, this is only temporary.
Those things will slowly find their kind, and once they increase in number, even if they don’t match your present quality, they can come together to produce black fog.
By then…
the white mist won’t be able to stop them!”
“So, it’s not my misperception that the white mist seeks to save people?”
“Yes!”
“Then why doesn’t it let people out?”
“Because it cannot discern!” Chen Qing also sat down on the ground and drew a circle in the sand.
“It can’t tell whether the people trying to leave are clean or infected, so it cannot let them out.
Otherwise, the thing inside you would spread, and the white mist would have to expand further.
And according to the characteristics of the white mist, the more it expands, the more loopholes it has.”
“When the loopholes reach a certain extent, it will be completely mastered by that thing, and then, once the white mist cannot hold, with no restraint on that creature, it will be the true Inferno!”
“I see!” Weichi Feihong nodded with enlightenment.
“Does that mean this white mist was chasing me when it came to Jiangnan?”
“That’s not certain.
Maybe some other beings like Lord yourself have escaped too,” Chen Qing sighed.
“Otherwise, those of you alone wouldn’t be enough for the white mist to blockade the whole Jiangnan!”
“How do you determine it has blockaded the whole Jiangnan?”
“The larger the blockade, the bigger the loopholes.
If it only wanted to blockade you, Lord, then it would only need to seal off Lyuzhou.
But that blockading line stretches along the river all the way out of sight.
Clearly, it blockades the entire coastal waterway from West Sea to Jiangnan.
Based on my calculations from the map’s lines, such blockading along the waterway means at least the seven provinces of Jiangnan are sealed!”
“The land of the seven provinces!” Weichi Feihong gasped.
“What kind of capability is that?
Such a vast area, can it ensure no one can enter or exit?”
“Entry allowed, no exit!” Chen Qing declared firmly.
“Apart from the being in the fog that has been exploring for who knows how many years, as of now, no one in this world can break through it!”
“Quite an arrogant claim, Lord.
The world is vast, with countless hidden dragons and crouching tigers.
Are you that certain?”
At these words, Chen Qing sighed.
He indeed was that certain; before the resurgence of Spiritual Energy, the Human Race and certain other existences were in different dimensions altogether.
What nonsense about hidden dragons and crouching tigers?
With level caps set in place, the pinnacle for humanity was just that—what use was there talking about hidden talents?
Seeing that Chen Qing did not respond, Weichi Feihong did not pursue the subject and instead asked, “If it only blockades the seven provinces, will those creatures break through?”
“There’s a chance…”
“There’s a chance?” Weichi Feihong was taken aback.
“The white mist will make one final gambit; as to who will win, I can’t say for sure.”
“What gambit?” Weichi Feihong suddenly stood up.
If it were so, did that mean there was also a chance to trap that being forever?
“If you help me ensure the safe return of a few people, then I will answer your subsequent questions,” Chen Qing proposed.
“You’re using this to blackmail me?” Weichi Feihong laughed.
“I’m already reduced to this state, and who knows when I’ll become one of those monsters; do you really think I care that much?”
“You care a great deal!” Chen Qing affirmed confidently.
“Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been so ruthless to your own Personal Soldiers!”
“Chen Qing!” Weichi Feihong took a step forward, his murderous aura surging: “Watch your words!”
“Sorry…” Chen Qing also stood up: “I have great respect for the general and his soldiers, because from the traces on the bodies, I know that your men did not resist.”
“Stop talking!” Weichi Feihong shouted angrily.
“What I’m trying to say is…
I can’t save your soldiers, but if the general can hold on a little longer, maybe I could try to save you!”
Weichi Feihong: “!!”

“For the third time!”
In the thick fog on the river, a massive cargo ship slowly sailed, surrounded by faint shadows, the very Rongsheng Trading Company’s large cargo ship that Second Elder Shen and his group were on.
On the deck, Murong Yunji gazed into the distance, a rare look of caution in her eyes.
“Second Elder, are you certain there’s nothing following us?”
Inside the cabin, Shen Yiyun shook his head upon hearing that, glancing around the interior with an expression that could barely conceal his anxiety.
Old Jiu’s condition was becoming increasingly troublesome: his appetite had grown larger, he had developed a greater interest in raw food, and his own consciousness was beginning to blur.
In just three days on the river, Old Jiu’s hair had been visibly falling out, his nails and teeth had been growing longer, yet that thing essential for passing on one’s lineage was shrinking.
That time when he helped Old Jiu relieve himself, all that came out was bloody urine, and that thing almost felt like it was disappearing!
Ever since then, Old Jiu had been hiding and refusing to see anyone.
Starting from yesterday, he had been hiding inside the cabin, seemingly very afraid of sunlight, becoming more and more like a sinister specter!
Shen Yiyun felt that Old Jiu must have been afflicted by some sort of curse, a very terrifying curse, and it would likely require the ancestors themselves to take action to resolve it.
But the fog wouldn’t clear!
Shen Yiyun squinted his eyes as he walked out, looking at the sky: “It shouldn’t be an illusion technique.
I haven’t heard of any illusion techniques that can change the weather!”
With that, he pointed to Old Jiu, who was lurking suspiciously inside the cabin: “Old Jiu is afraid of sunlight, that much is true; the sunlight in this fog is real!”
“Indeed curious…” Murong Yunji frowned as she looked at the sky: “Each evening we end up circling back to Lyuzhou, and the weather there is completely different from inside the fog.
Could it be that within this mist lies another world entirely?”
“I don’t know…” Shen Yiyun shook his head: “Having lived for three hundred years, I’ve never heard of such a thing, this fog is no simple matter.”
“Of course it isn’t simple!” Murong Yunji snorted coldly, her divine breeze completely unable to alter the direction of the mist, something she also had never heard of!
“A ship!” Shen Yiyun’s eyes lit up as he looked ahead.
It was the first time in three days that he saw another ship in the fog!
“There’s a magician on the ship!” Murong Yunji’s eyebrows furrowed as she looked at the wind surrounding the ship and let out a cold laugh.
She extended her left hand and gently squeezed, and in an instant, the clear wind force wrapped around the opposing cargo ship shattered and was forcefully anchored in place!
Soon, a female voice came from the other ship: “Who is the senior on the opposing ship?”
The person speaking was Chen Ying, who was currently gathering all her spiritual energy with caution toward the other side.
The magician on the other side was able to instantly destroy her technique and even use wind power to forcefully hold her ship in place.
Clearly, this was a being whose mastery of the Wind Walk Sorcery far surpassed her own!
“Is it Little Ying?” Shen Yiyun looked at the woman in white, a slight smile on his face.
“It turns out to be Second Elder Shen.” Chen Ying quickly paid her respects: “The junior has been rude; please forgive me, Elder.”
Although she didn’t know why the Shen Family was also here, Chen Ying didn’t want to complicate matters and only wished to exchange pleasantries and leave as soon as possible.
But Shen Yiyun certainly didn’t want to let her leave so easily, asking with a smile: “Where is the little girl heading?”
“Some matters, I want to report to my master!” Chen Ying had no choice but to bring up her master’s name, which was also her biggest support.
“Reporting to Mu DaRen?” Shen Yiyun heard this and smiled: “Is it about that Azure Dragon Heritage matter in Lyuzhou?”
Chen Ying felt a shock in her heart, but kept a brave face: “Yes…”
“Girl, let me advise you, your master doesn’t have the qualifications to get involved in this matter!”
“What do you mean by that, Second Elder Shen?” Chen Ying’s face immediately looked displeased.
“I mean it literally…” Shen Yiyun laughed: “But it doesn’t matter, after all, girl, you probably won’t be able to leave this place and make it to Nanming Prefecture.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Ying’s heart moved, and she quietly slipped the ring from her hand into her sleeve, curious: “You mean to say, Old Master Shen, that you can’t leave either?”
Shen Yiyun was about to reply when suddenly from the cabin behind them came a spine-chilling howl.
“A monster?” Chen Ying’s complexion changed, the wheels of law in her eyes spinning, as she intently stared at the cabin behind Shen Yiyun and the others.
Shen Yiyun’s eyebrows furrowed tightly; before he could speak, the voice of Old Jiu came from inside the cabin.
“Second brother…
catch that woman…
for me!”
