The Devil's Betrothed
Chapter 792: Draven Feeling The Pain
CHAPTER 792: DRAVEN FEELING THE PAIN
Draven was following the pull he felt within Mount Aramis, guiding him deeper into the mountain where the divine energy was growing stronger—beyond what one could truly endure.
The path he walked on was engulfed in snowstorms, yet he continued forward despite the opposing force. The wind was fierce, and particles of snow had begun to accumulate on him.
All of a sudden, something happened—he fell to his knees. His hands clutched his chest as he struggled to breathe. There was a pain in his heart that was unbearable.
"Ember..." he mumbled with a pained groan.
He understood that Ember had awakened her powers somehow—and if that had happened, it meant something had hurt her deeply enough to unleash her rage. He could feel her angry, destructive emotions as if she wished to destroy everything in existence.
He regretted leaving her alone. ’I need to return to her.’
Though in pain, he managed to stand on his feet and was about to use his powers to leave the place—when suddenly, a strong snowstorm laced with the purest and most intense divine power from the mountain surrounded him and swept him away with it.
Draven couldn’t even fight against it; it was far more powerful than anything he had ever experienced. He didn’t know where it would take him—all he knew was that his body and powers had given out. He could no longer resist it. He was exhausted, drained of everything.
----
Grianor and Soren appeared at the Celestial Hollow—and so did the other deities.
Isis appeared there as well, acting surprised at what was going on.
"Petra?" she called out to her.
Petra immediately appeared in front of her, only to be questioned.
"What is happening here, Petra? Didn’t I order you to take them to the Celestial Prison? How did they end up here?" Isis asked, looking slightly angry.
This drew the attention of all the deities who had arrived, having sensed the presence of hellfire—along with the King himself.
Petra fell to her knees. "My Sovereign, I was doing exactly that, but all of a sudden, the Deity of Fire turned angry and wanted to kill us all. She swore the same oath of revenge she did in the past. It’s like she wants to destroy the entire Heaven realm. We tried to control her, but she ended up killing many angels who tried to stop her."
"That’s your negligence. You will be punished," Isis said angrily.
Petra lowered her head and cried out, "I deserve to be punished! I failed to fight against the hellfire. I am incapable, my Sovereign."
"Isis, care to explain?" Grianor’s authoritative voice rang out.
Isis bowed to him. "My Sovereign, I had previously informed you about the existence of hellfire and my efforts to bring it back. A while ago, my angels discovered its presence in the human realm and later found its precise location. I ordered them to capture the source of the hellfire and bring it to the Heaven realm.
"As all the deities—including yourself, My Sovereign—were dealing with the serious situation unfolding in the Demon realm, I decided to carry out this task independently and hand the hellfire over to the Heaven realm.
"My angels managed to complete the task successfully, and I instructed them to take the threats to the Heavenly Prison until they could be presented before the deities and the matter resolved peacefully—without endangering any of the realms.
"However, it seems the reincarnated Deity of Fire is still adamant about destroying everything. Once again, she has proven that, even in her reincarnated form, she remains a threat to all the realms. She is determined to fulfill her oath of revenge."
"My Sovereign, we need to stop her," Solon interrupted, seeing the eruption of hellfire intensifying. Soon, those heavenly chains might break and would no longer be able to stop the Deity of Fire from using her powers to a greater extent.
Grianor understood the severity of the situation and commanded all the deities to use their powers to control the hellfire, while he himself prepared to use his own.
"My Sovereign, you have yet to recover from the last attack of hellfire. Let me do it in your stead," Isis said. "If you use your powers, it will harm you."
Despite Isis’s warning and her stepping forward to use her powers, Grianor activated his own magic anyway—it was his responsibility to protect the Heaven realm.
Every deity, angel, and heavenly guard present—and those still arriving—used their powers to create a shield around the hellfire to suppress it back to its origin.
As Ember was still not entirely powerful—since the hellfire resided in Seren’s body—and the heavenly chains were still resisting her, it was possible for all those powerful deities to suppress her powers.
But it was not an easy task. The hellfire, being immensely powerful, forced all of them to exhaust a great deal of their divine energy to subdue it.
It continued for a while, and in the end, the deities succeeded. The hellfire was forced back into Seren’s body, who was already unconscious, and Ember, who had borne the great brunt of wielding the hellfire, collapsed as well. Both of them lay on the ground, unconscious.
Grianor, Solon, and Isis approached them.
Isis explained, "My Sovereign, this child is Sierra’s daughter—the one who possesses the hellfire—and this child is the reincarnation of the Deity of Fire."
Solon looked at the unconscious women. One resembled Sierra, and the other, though she didn’t entirely resemble the former form of the Deity of Fire, carried the same essence. Without anyone telling him, he knew it was her.
She was back.
"We should keep them in the Celestial Prison before they wake up and cause harm again," Isis proposed. "And we need to keep them separated."
In response, Grianor spoke to Solon. "Take them to the Celestial Healing Chamber and inform me when they awaken."
"My Sovereign," Isis interrupted, "it won’t be safe. They need to be confined in prison so they won’t be able to use their powers."
"We can confine their powers in the Healing Chambers as well," Grianor replied, then instructed Solon again, "Strengthen their chains so they won’t be able to use their powers."
Solon was pleased with the decision. The two young women clearly looked exhausted, and they needed healing.
"My Sovereign, are you going to be lenient with them?" Isis asked. "Have you forgotten how the Deity of Fire tried to destroy the Heaven realm and even harmed you greatly, causing you to lose a significant part of your cultivation?"
"I remember it all. But they need healing first. Later, they will be presented in the Grand Hall before all the deities. After examining everything, a decision will be made with proper consideration."
"But—"
Grianor finally looked into her eyes. "I have not yet heard their side of the story—how they ended up here like this. As ruler of this realm, I must do what is right."
Isis shut her mouth and swallowed her words. Grianor’s cold gaze, paired with the finality in his tone, left no room for argument.
"As you say, My Sovereign," Isis relented politely.
Once Seren and Ember were taken away, Grianor left as well.
Isis’s gaze turned cold. You will regret showing mercy to them, Grianor.
