CHAPTER 125: 125: SQUANDERING MEN (PART 2)_1
If she were still the same spiteful little wretch as before, Liang Yuening wouldn’t bother with her, but after turning white, with no more moles on her face, she seemed like a completely different person—clean, fair, and delicate, and with such a petite figure, just like those young maidresses in Dayuan, around eleven or twelve, yet to reach adulthood.
"Cough," he coughed awkwardly, feeling somewhat guilty as he looked at her slightly green and tender little face. He felt like he was picking on a child.
"It was actually you being sarcastic," he muttered in defense, angry at himself for feeling so vulnerable.
Why did he have to explain himself to her?
It’s just that her face was too much; despite being eighteen already, she still looked like a little girl. He contemptuously dismissed her in his mind.
Dong Huiying was about to explode with anger. "Close your eyes!"
"Huh?"
"Otherwise, Old Lady will gouge out your eyeballs!" She clenched her teeth furiously. Don’t think she didn’t see it—this brat just looked down on her, didn’t he?
Heh, do they think I’m a sick cat if I don’t show the fierceness of a tiger?
Liang Yuening frowned, "Dong Dabao, are you sick?" He actually wanted to gouge out his eyes? She was indeed violent; he thought she had changed, but she was still the same.
"Get lost, get lost, get lost," she waved her hand dismissively like shooing a fly, not wanting to argue under the same roof for the sake of appearances. But this guy always managed to easily ignite her temper, making her lose control of her fiery disposition.
"You!" Yue Ning was angry again, but she took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the anger in her heart. "Come back with me!"
"I’m not going back!"
"Can’t you be sensible?"
"What a joke, how am I not being sensible?"
He pointed at the wild boar, "I killed a wild boar; should it just be left here to rot in the mountains?"
"You wastrel!" Dong Huiying exploded. "Do you even have a brain? A hundred-pound wild boar should be dragged away quickly! Whether it’s taken home to eat or sold for money, that’s better than leaving it to rot in the mountains, right?"
"You’re the wastrel!"
He retorted loudly, shouting back at her, "You think I don’t want to drag it away? But what if you run off while I’m not around? Anyway, no more nonsense, if we’re going, we go together; otherwise, no one goes!"
Dong Huiying was furious.
Liang Yuening was surely as stubborn as an ox; there was just no communicating with him.
"Come on, come on, let’s both calm down,"
She managed to squeeze out a stiff smile on her face, which even featured a small dimple on the left side.
Tilting her head back, looking up at the much taller Liang Yuening, she tried to communicate calmly and rationally, "Do you know why I went up the mountain this time?"
"I..." Liang Yuening paused. Yeah, why did she go up the mountain?
He was a bit confused.
Dong Huiying ’haha’ chuckled,
"I went up the mountain because we ran out of medicinal herbs at home! Get it? Liang Shuyu needs to soak in medicinal baths every day. Without the herbs, we’d have to buy them with Silver, but does our family have money? Huh?"
"I climbed all morning just to get here, and all I found on the way was old trees and weeds, and then I only stumbled upon a bunch of Elm tree money. And then you followed me, because you hunted a wild boar, you want to drag me down the mountain? Fine, I can go down the mountain, but what then?"
"I spend an entire afternoon accompanying you back, and then I climb up the mountain again. And not even two steps later, you’ve hunted boar, pheasant, rabbit, dog... whatever, and we have to trek back again? You think I have nothing better to do?"
Yue Ning was at a loss. His lips moved, he hummed and hawed, and his ears burned with heat. He really was being unreasonable; no wonder she was so angry.
But he was just... afraid she might disappear...
