CHAPTER 133: 133: WITH A COLD FACE (1)_1
Dong Huiying summoned a wooden board, first helping Doctor Xiao set the bone, then to prevent the bone from healing crookedly, she used the board to fix his arm in place. Afterward, she pried open the iron tongs and Doctor Xiao’s face broke into a sweat from the pain as the sharp tongs were pulled from his flesh. She then quickly stopped the bleeding with skilled movements.
Doctor Xiao truly had his eyes opened.
"Miss Dong, you know medical skill?"
"Just a little," she said with a modest smile.
After quite some time, Dong Huiying washed her hands and then turned to Doctor Xiao, who was distressedly inspecting his basket. She picked out some edible wild fruits from her own ugly basket, "Here, eat some first, and later I will take you down the mountain."
Doctor Xiao hung his head dejectedly, "It seems that’s the only option."
Unfortunately, he was still one medicinal herb short. He had a patient with an incurable disease, left with only half a year to live.
He had tried his best to treat them, had deduced countless prescriptions, and was just about to succeed, only to fall short at the last hurdle.
"Eh?"
Suddenly, he noticed a small seedling in Dong Huiying’s basket; he gasped, his face nearly turning red with excitement.
"Miss, Miss Dong, this, could you possibly let Xiao have a look?"
Dong Huiying raised her eyebrows slightly and nodded in agreement. Doctor Xiao immediately crawled towards the basket and took out a small seedling that had just been unearthed by Dong Huiying not long ago.
He held it carefully as though it was a treasure, which was really quite baffling.
He was clearly a distinguished individual, so why did he seem so adorably silly?
Dong Huiying’s lips twitched as she inexplicably wanted to laugh.
"It’s Iron Grass, it really is Iron Grass!" Doctor Xiao looked at Dong Huiying with an exhilarated face, "Miss Dong, you truly are Xiao’s lucky star!" He praised her profusely, completely forgetting that if it weren’t for being startled by Dong Huiying two days ago, he wouldn’t have panicked and fallen into a pit, breaking his arm and getting his ankle trapped in the iron frame.
"Do you want it?" she asked, licking her lips and glancing at Doctor Xiao’s basket. Earlier, when she had been collecting herbs scattered on the ground in the pit, she had noticed that Doctor Xiao indeed had quite a few treasures.
"Yes, yes, yes!" he nodded vigorously, as if pounding garlic.
Dong Huiying narrowed her eyes, her arms crossed as she smiled, "Fine, but you see, I also have use for this Iron Grass. If Doctor Xiao wants it, I’m afraid you’ll have to trade something for it."
Doctor Xiao’s luck was in, he instantly caught on and quickly fished out several rather special herbs from his basket, as for the rest, well, he stuffed them all in.
He waved his hand, "Take them, take them, are these herbs enough?"
Oh dear, such a simple man with so many herbs, so easy to fool.
Dong Huiying’s eyes smiled with delight as she clapped her hands, "Enough, enough, enough, it’s a deal! But I won’t take advantage of you. I can tell you really like my roast pheasant, so if you want to eat it again in the future, just come to the Liang family to find me; I’ll take care of your meals!"
She patted her petite frame and thus, a bizarre friendship was born today in this great mountain.
...
When Liang Yuening was a child, he was quite wild too. The wild mountains and forests were like the children’s backyard in the village. He followed his older brothers around every day, shooting birds with a slingshot from the time he was in open-crotch pants. Later, as he grew taller and stronger, he began to learn to hunt like his eldest and third and fourth brothers.
Although his ability to track prey was not as good as Third Brother, it was definitely not poor. From the footprints and traces on the forest floor, he could determine the direction in which the prey had fled.
