CHAPTER 175: TWIST (1)

In the palace, Tyrion arrived and went in search of his father first to speak about the court.

Tyrion found his father alone, swamped with work.

"What is all of this?" Tyrion asked, examining the papers stacked up on the table. "Have you been abandoning your duties? Why is there so much work?

"My son, who ran away from becoming king, is asking why I have so much work to do?" Tobias asked, looking up at Tyrion. "There’s much to implement before your brother takes the throne. Dissolving the court also isn’t an easy task."

"It would be if you went with my plan to kill all of them," said Tyrion.

"Not all of the men in court need to die. Some will leave without trying to put up a fight. I want to do this as calmly as possible, not to overshadow your brother’s moment," Tobias said.

A mass murder of the men in the court should not be remembered in history at the same time as Teo would become king.

"I have men like Mark Wilkerson returning to the court. He and his men will stay during Teo’s reign, and along with the king, Mark will select the men to take his place. He’s also looking into what his peers have been doing," Tobias shared.

Tobias believed Mark could perfectly uncover any plans his peers had.

"Those who have abused their power or committed heinous acts will be arrested by the palace guards and brought here for judgment. Blood will only spill if anyone tries to attack. The town is already concerned about a murderer. I can’t have them worry about the state of the palace," Tobias explained.

Tobias was informed that his announcement of the murders was responded to with panic, as he expected. He was tasked with finding ways to keep the people settled so they wouldn’t be careless as they panicked.

"I understand your position, but I would kill those we know are causing trouble. I’m sure their families will cry out that we have robbed them of the men who provide, so the palace should make an offering to be ahead of them," Tyrion suggested.

Since his father couldn’t kill men like Solomon to avoid adding more fuel to the panic in town, Tyrion would gladly kill the court.

"It is a good idea. Depending on what Mark has found, and I know he will find something, we won’t need to fight. Most of them will find their way into the palace dungeon. They love the palace so much that they will rot there. Others will hang," said Tobias.

When this happened, Tobias would announce that he had saved the town from corrupt men. Then there would be more celebrations rather added panic.

"Leave it to me," Tobias told Tyrion.

"No," Tyrion denied his father’s wishes. "I am going to kill Solomon-"

"Tyrion! We have the chance to do this the right way. I will take care of Solomon and the others. I have been working closely with Mark to not only get rid of his peers, but to have them pay for what they have done," said Tobias.

"You had plenty of time to do things your way. Now I will do it my way. Arthur employed a man to spoil Penelope so she wouldn’t have a chance at becoming queen in the past. We both know there was one man Arthur sought to please, and he’s still here in the palace," Tyrion said.

Solomon’s evil deeds in court could be revealed in time, but Tyrion wanted more than for Solomon to rot in the dungeon.

"The bastard," Tobias muttered.

This made matters worse.

If this were told to the wrong person, there wouldn’t be a chance for this to be solved civilly.

"Very well. You’ve already got your mind made up. The court hasn’t played fair for years, and since it concerns your wife, I will leave it in your hands. As long as you are not caught, do as you wish to Solomon and his followers. Please don’t get caught," Tobias pleaded.

Tobias didn’t want to have to make an order to free Tyrion from the hold of the town guards.

Tyrion smiled since he had never been caught regarding anything he did in the palace. Until the night he left with Penelope, even his father didn’t know that many of the palace knights had sworn their loyalty to him.

"I don’t like that smile. You always smiled when you were up to no good, and then your mother would come running to help you. Your mother has the same plans as you," Tobias said, seeing the similarity between both of them now.

Tobias continued to say, "She wants Linda’s help to get the army to wipe out the court. We don’t need an army for that. Go see your mother. It will make her worry less."

"I will. I’ve been meaning to speak to Linda as well. There was a man she or her husband invited to her home who is quite the mystery. I need to know why he was invited," said Tyrion.

"Linda is like an aunt to all of you. Her loyalty is always with your mother first, which is good since her brothers command most of our army. You might be lucky to see her in the palace today."

Tyrion didn’t doubt Linda’s loyalty, but he still needed answers. He thought over whether he could make it to Linda’s home after his visit here and make it back home to Penelope in time.

Tobias narrowed his eyes, suspicious of something he had failed to notice earlier. "Why are you wearing your uniform? This isn’t like you. I had to force you to wear it to social events, and you’d take it off as soon as you returned to the palace. What am I missing here?"

"I realised I should wear it more often," Tyrion replied.

"I don’t believe you. I know you like the back of my hand, so I know there is something more to this. I am going to find out what it is. Until then, come take a walk with me," Tobias said, standing up.

Tobias was tired from all the work he had done, and since he didn’t get to see Tyrion as much as he liked, he had to take this moment to walk with Tyrion.

"I have news to share with you," Tobias said, leading the way out.

Tyrion glanced at the work his father had left to do. "You don’t have anything to share. You want to get away from work."
