CHAPTER 183: CHAPTER 179: SHEN TIANQI, COME HERE!
The graceful Chen Xi, dressed in white, had sneaked in at some point and linked arms with Chu Yi, smiling.
Chu Yi: "..."
Lias: "..."
"Chu... Chu Yi... why is she here?" Lias’s face darkened, as if her beloved toy had been stolen by a wicked woman. She immediately grasped Chu Yi’s other arm, saying coldly, "Junior, the Star Secret Realm is very dangerous. You should leave early for your own good."
"Is that so?" Chen Xi looked curious but held tightly onto Chu Yi’s arm, saying in a soft, sweet voice, "It’s okay, Senior will definitely protect me, right, Senior?"
Lias naturally recognized the other party. She was an Enchanting Demon, a Princess from the Enchanting Demon Royal Court, no less. However, she couldn’t reveal this to Chu Yi yet, as she herself was of the Blood Race.
Her relationship with Chu Yi had been progressing smoothly, but then an Enchanting Demon Princess suddenly appeared, giving Lias a sense of crisis. She knew this well; she’d played her share of romance simulation games at home, where it was a foregone conclusion that the childhood friend never stood a chance against the girl who appeared out of nowhere. Furious, she had even smashed her gaming console.
"Ahem, Chen Xi is also a member of the Starfire Sequence. She just happened to be passing by," Chu Yi withdrew his hand, hastily explaining. If his girlfriend got angry, he wouldn’t get any ice cream.
After his reasonable explanation, the crisis was averted. The two girls exchanged glances, each tinged with coldness. Beyond their rivalry for Chu Yi, the Blood Race and the Enchanting Demon clan also had a strained relationship.
This kid... he’s tangled up with young ladies from so many powerful factions. I’m not even sure if I should envy him or not. He marveled at Chu Yi’s popularity but was also quite amused to see him in such a predicament. Zhang Yi watched in secret.
Soon, under Zhang Yi’s arrangements, an elimination match was indeed set up within the Starfire Sequence. Those who were recommended could challenge an existing member; defeating them meant taking their spot in the Sequence.
The venue was an arena. Due to the ’bloody transaction’ involved, the entire process was kept confidential. Other than Zhang Yi and a few of his trusted teachers, no one else was involved or aware.
On a secluded Beast Taming duel stage, a young man in a thin shirt, his long hair draped over his shoulders, stood trembling. He stared at a boy in a Profound Robe, his face ashen. He never dreamed that after only a month, this little whelp would actually return to turn the tables.
"Didn’t expect this, did you?" Chu Yi arrogantly raised his head. He quietly watched the young man who had once challenged him on this very duel stage, leading to his expulsion from the Starfire Sequence. Chu Yi then calmly said, "Tables turn. Are you ready to die?"
Back then, without a single Pet Beast, he had been doubted and mocked in front of everyone. It was this Shen Tianqi who had spoken those cruel words, ending his career in the Starfire Sequence.
"A good-for-nothing like you, with no ability to contract Pet Beasts, is just a waste of resources in the Starfire Sequence. Pure trash."
"A mere commoner, dreaming of reaching the heavens in a single step? Get lost!"
The taunts from that day echoed in his mind, as vivid as if it were yesterday.
"ROAR!" Sensing his master’s complex emotions, Bika leaped from his shoulder, snarling at Shen Tianqi, as if to vent all the frustration and resentment its master had endured a month ago.
"This is a fair duel. Both combatants will reveal three Pet Beasts and send them into battle one by one until all Pet Beasts on one side are defeated," the referee announced loudly before quickly jumping out of the arena.
Experts who had rushed over upon hearing the news immediately activated their machines to record data on the King’s Cub.
"Thermal sensing activated! Energy levels are rising steadily..."
"The detector has picked up the cub’s Extraordinary Life signature! Countless light dots... It’s terrifying! The sheer amount of power it contains is immense!"
"Hey, Shen Tianqi! Hurry up and summon your Pet Beasts!" an expert urged.
Shen Tianqi’s expression was grim. What was supposed to be a fair Beast Taming duel had turned into an experiment to study his opponent’s cub. It was just like a month ago when he himself had unscrupulously challenged Chu Yi, who hadn’t even contracted a single Pet Beast. Oh, how ’fair’ it was.
However, no one cared about him.
The most outstanding young master of the Shen Family’s younger generation, a rare talent selected for the Starfire Sequence, now seemed utterly insignificant before this demon—like a mere firefly daring to challenge the brilliance of the full moon! The transformed Chu Yi was that radiant moon.
"I refuse to accept this!" Shen Tianqi roared.
A massive, powerful two-headed dog leaped out, wreathed in furious flames. But in the next instant, it was swatted out of existence by a Crown Flame Mad Dragon, exploding into a bloody mist.
"PFFT!" Suffering from the Beast Taming backlash, Shen Tianqi spat out a mouthful of blood. His successively summoned Three-Tailed Ice Sculpture and Stone-eating Beast were also swiftly slain.
Drenched in his own blood, he staggered, the repeated backlashes leaving him mentally shattered. All three Pet Beasts that had been with him for so long had perished at the hands of the Beast Tamer he had dismissed as worthless just a month prior.
"Any last words?" Chu Yi looked down on him, Bika, the six-tailed fox, behind him, its body wreathed in fierce flames. Against such a mediocre opponent, Bika didn’t even need to adopt its battle form; a casual swipe of one of its tails would be enough to kill him.
"PFFT!" Shen Tianqi collapsed to his knees, an instinctive desire to survive overwhelming him. "Please... spare me! The Shen Family..."
"SMACK!" Bika lashed out with one of its tails, whipping up an astonishing cyclone. It crashed down, obliterating Shen Tianqi and causing the ground within a tens-of-meters radius to cave in. He exploded into a mist of blood.
Everyone present was stunned.
「...」
"So that’s the Six-Tailed Flame Emperor? Hah, just a lucky fellow who picked up something valuable by chance." In an exquisitely decorated hall, a tall man glanced at the image in the Magic Mirror and couldn’t help shaking his head.
"Jiang Zhe, he’s not that simple." A mature beauty with glossy black hair gently caressed a thorny rose with her slender fingers. Her fiery red hair beautifully contrasted with the flower. A hint of interest flickered in her lovely eyes, accented with faint red eyeshadow, as she covered her mouth and chuckled softly, "He was a nobody for two years after enrolling, only contracting his Pet Beast a week ago. Yet, he’s already reached the level of a demon. That speed is much faster than yours."
Her voice carried a hint of allure. Three fluffy white-and-red fox tails extended from her prominent derrière, exuding a natural charm.
Jiang Zhe glanced at her enticing figure. A flicker of desire sparked in his eyes but was quickly extinguished as he regained his composure. He noted with alarm that this woman’s enchanting aura had grown even stronger. He composed himself and focused on the Magic Mirror, which displayed the image of Chu Yi obliterating the Bizarre Snake.
If only... if only that King’s Cub were his...
"Overall, in its normal state, it can display Golden Battle Power. It can also unleash an attack at quasi-Dawn Star intensity once, after which it requires a full day to recover."
"Should I go and test his strength?" a man built like an iron tower spoke indifferently. The faint image of a ferocious bear flickered around him, his powerful aura distorting the surrounding air.
"No." Jiang Zhe waved his hand, smiling faintly. "I believe we will meet him soon enough."
In his view, even with a King’s Cub, Chu Yi’s talent was merely decent—enough to act arrogantly in Yaoguang City for a time, perhaps. Once they studied the King’s Cub’s weaknesses, Chu Yi, a mere Silver-level Beast Tamer, would be quite easy to deal with.
