Chapter 194 - 190: The Secret of the Divine War, The Fallen Church Knight!
CHAPTER 194: CHAPTER 190: THE SECRET OF THE DIVINE WAR, THE FALLEN CHURCH KNIGHT!
Sacred Artifacts can only be used by families with exclusive bloodlines. This is one of the reasons why great noble families have survived through the ages. Owning a Sacred Artifact means possessing absolute power.
Meanwhile, through John’s narration, Chu Yi learned that the world where the Blood Race resides is a broken great world, featuring Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Witch Demons, and other Alien Races. He also learned that the foggy area was a passageway to this world.
It’s surprising that Lias, as a member of the Blood Race, travels between two worlds and is even selected into the Federation’s Starfire Sequence. There’s no way the Federation’s higher-ups wouldn’t know about this.
Chu Yi stroked his chin thoughtfully. This suggests that there is an exchange of interests between the higher-ups of both sides. I also remember that the Moon Princess’s Royal City had followers from the human race.
The Federation and the Alien Races engaged in both combat and peaceful exchanges, including trade relations. Exchanging students was also reasonable.
"Sir, where do we go next?" John changed his address, now viewing Chu Yi as the one to whom he owed allegiance, and asked curiously.
Chu Yi glanced at him, massaged Lias’s delicate, jade-like legs, then changed the topic. "Why did the eldest son you mentioned want to purge the Count? Was it just because he was disobedient?"
John hesitated for a moment, pondered, and slowly replied, "Sir, I am not very clear about this matter either, but according to the Marquis, it is related to the Divine War."
"What is the Divine War?" Chu Yi asked. He leaned over and stole another kiss from Lias’s tender cheek; it was soft and fragrant, a taste to be savored.
It had to be said, having a girlfriend makes life joyful.
Soon, he understood the Divine War to be a game akin to a prank by the gods—a reshuffle within the Alien Races.
...
「Janet Castle.」
The grand castle stood like a giant, dormant beast, possessing an air of majesty. The courtyard was planted with roses, and the air was filled with their fragrance.
Inside the castle, a blond man in formal attire, appearing to be in his thirties, was clad in Golden Armor. He wielded a Heavy Sword embedded with gems and confronted a group of unexpected guests. Tensions were rising.
On the ground lay scattered bones and corpses. The forces guarding the castle had been completely wiped out.
"Kaine Janet," a man with long black hair and a delicately handsome face said, a confident and elegant smile on his lips. "You have forsaken the blood oath and refused to participate in the Divine War. I come to arrest you in the name of the Eldest Son of the Duke of Rhine! As a noble, please do not resist!"
"Brian, I know your intention," the blond man sneered. His seemingly delicate arms easily wielded a Greatsword weighing hundreds of pounds. "Isn’t it simply my treasure you want? Then come on, let’s exchange a few moves and see what progress you’ve made over the years."
The Heavy Sword swung fiercely, sending scarlet sword energy slicing through the air. It transformed into a level-twelve hurricane, emanating the cries of ghosts and wolves, carrying the terrifying aura of a Fierce Ghost demanding souls.
"What! Your rank has broken through?" Brian paused. Enveloped by a dense dark energy, he sank within it, not daring to face this blow directly.
SWISH! SWISH!
The hurricane swept through the castle hall, wreaking havoc like thousands of scythes harvesting simultaneously. Brian’s personal guards, unable to dodge, exploded into a blood mist under the scythes, their limbs, fragments, and blood raining down.
After delivering this blow, Kaine Janet, Lias’s father and Chu Yi’s adoptive father, panted slightly. He parried an attack from behind with his Heavy Sword, an explosive sound erupting with the impact.
"Surrender peacefully," Brian said, his eyes turning scarlet. Seeing his opponent was spent, one of his hands transformed into countless tentacles that entangled the Heavy Sword, and he lunged to bite Kaine. "Otherwise, your relatives will suffer greatly."
BOOM!
The Golden Armor glinted. A layer of golden light repelled Brian, then dimmed slightly.
Just as Kaine retreated, Brian crawled out from the ruins and lightly uttered, "Besides, you wouldn’t want your daughter to be harmed either."
Instantly, Kaine raised his head, his fierce gaze locking onto Brian. The Heavy Sword once again gathered momentum, golden energy surging over it.
"You seek your own demise!"
Lias, entrusted to him by his deceased wife on her deathbed, was his Achilles’ heel. Because of his wife’s last request, he had allowed Lias to live in human society, avoiding involvement in this world’s bloodshed and darkness.
Of course, from a certain perspective, even if the Duke himself acted, he would not capture Lias—this was a secret buried deep within his heart.
BOOM!
In the next moment, Kaine’s aura fully unleashed. Like a golden lion, waves of his energy swept through, stirring the castle into a cloud of dust.
In his blurred memories, he was once a Church Knight, a noble human, a righteous Knight protecting a haven. Even though he had fallen into being a Vampire, he remained true to the justice in his heart.
BOOM!
The Greatsword dragged a streak of light, tearing through the void like a lightning flash. It traced an arc too swift for the naked eye to capture as it slashed towards Brian.
Church Secret Skill: Fierce Sun Slash!
This slash was specially developed by the Church Court to massacre Dark Creatures, possessing immense destructive power. Yet, upon turning into a Vampire, Kaine had also honed this deadly move. He replaced the Scorching Power of the Sun with Blood Energy. Its style changed radically, filled with the cries of ghosts and wolves, chilling to the bone yet rich in violent aesthetics.
What... Brian was terrified. For over twenty years, he had looked down on Kaine, his rival. Kaine, a Vampire converted from a Church Knight and still only a Count, was an embarrassment in Brian’s eyes. But at this moment, he was tremendously alarmed. It was the first time he realized his nemesis had concealed his true prowess. This frightful explosiveness was already at the Dawn Star-tier! Locked on by this energy, he couldn’t even transform back into a bat to flee.ŸŸŸ
"Please, my lord..."
BANG!
An arc of light flickered. A strike fell. A head soared into the air, crashing against the ceiling. Blood splattered across the walls. The body was slashed into a fountain of blood mist; no bones remained!
Kaine breathed heavily. He grabbed Brian’s head, stared at the terrified expression on it, then calmly said, "You shouldn’t have threatened me with my daughter."
THUD!
Ignoring Brian’s pleas for mercy, Kaine slammed him to the ground with one punch, smashing out a pit more than ten meters across. Then, punch after punch, hundreds of them, rained down, causing the entire structure to tremble.
Though nobles possess the Undying Attribute, combat between nobles was a battle of ranks, inflicting damage far greater—several magnitudes more severe—than any other race could cause to the Blood Race.
Phew...
Having finished slaughtering Brian, Kaine sighed in relief and indifferently said, "Have you finished watching?"
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
As his words fell, a silver-haired youth walked in through a window, clapping his hands. He praised, "No wonder you’re the Dawn Knight. Such straightforward and brutal combat—truly spectacular."
Saying this, the silver-haired youth squinted. A ripple ran through the void as terrifying Blood Energy surged from within him. Even a mere trickle of it strained the battered castle beyond endurance.
Marquis, Dawn Star-tier strength!
