The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.
Chapter 26: Her brother?
CHAPTER 26: HER BROTHER?
Elara took some time to realize what the man said, and when she understood, her brows furrowed, and she was about to step forward when she froze.
Why?
Because she saw one man she didn’t expect to see here.
Logan Frost. Her father!!
As soon as her gaze met with her father, she stepped back subconsciously, her eyes as wide as saucers as she turned around, nearly tripping on her feet.
Daniel looked at the woman, who was practically leaving this place as if her pants were on fire, finding it strangely intriguing.
Candice, shocked earlier by what Daniel did, followed Elara, nearly running to catch up to her.
As Elara ran in another direction. She stumbled forward, only to be supported by a man, too familiar for her to ignore.
George’s brows furrowed.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice cold and detached.
Elara nodded.
George narrowed his eyes, his gaze darting to the bracelet that had fallen from the man’s pocket, which he recognized immediately.
His pupils dilated, and as Elara turned to leave, he held her hand to stop her in place.
"Stay right there, young man—" He paused before he removed her hat.
"Or should I say, young lady?" He asked, his expression turning dark and frosty.
Elara tried to hide her face by covering it with her hand so he wouldn’t see, but it was too late.
George held her hand and pulled her all the way to the side, where only security was allowed.
Candice, who had been following Elara, stopped at some distance when she noticed how George was acting with her friend. She felt a sharp pain in her chest because of her crush, but she still needed to ensure her friend was fine, and thus, she maintained her distance.
"I... I can explain," Elara stammered.
"Explain? I don’t even know what to say, Elara. What the fuck do you think you are doing here dressed like a man? What if Dad had seen you like this?" George nearly raised his voice at her before taking a deep breath and pinching the area between his brows.
Elara looked down at her feet, ashamed of her actions.
Wait. George was angry because he thought I was here dressed as a man. He didn’t say anything about the machine gun. It means he didn’t see it. Elara grinned at the thought, and her smile angered George even more.
"Do you have the nerve to smile in this situation?" George asked.
Elara zipped her lips and looked down, acting like a child who was getting a well-deserved scolding.
George sighed when he saw her acting all cute and groaned.
"Who do you think I am worried about? You said you don’t want him to know everything, yet you act like this. Why do you even need to be in a place like this? What if someone hurt you? You always hated such scary things, didn’t you?" George asked.
His words made Candice look at Elara with a faint smile. She was scared of such things?
She wondered how Mr. George would’ve reacted if he had seen her operating that machine gun. Judging from how angry he was right now, he would’ve caused a ruckus for real.
"Brother, let me explain—" Elara looked up at George with teary eyes.
George looked down at her before shaking his head.
"No. You are not going to do this, Elara. You don’t get to act so recklessly and then show me these tears that you know have always been my weakness. I can’t let anyone make my sister cry, even if it’s you," George said.
Candice stood there frozen at the revelation.
Elara just called Mr. George, her brother. And he just called her his sister. Mr. George Frost. Elara Frost.
Her eyes widened in realization. Why didn’t she think of it earlier? The way George was tending to her and knew all about her preferences and habits at the restaurant... it was all because she is his sister... it means...
Elara was the rumored daughter of the Frost family? The one who was known to be exceptionally talented and beautiful, but only a couple had seen before?
The Frost family was one of the most powerful families in the province, and to say a girl like her suffered so much at the hands of someone because of love? The thought alone made Candice clench her fists.
At the same time, Andrew, who had seen Elara running away earlier and wanted to ask her how she could let another man touch her like that in public and whether she really enjoyed it so much, stopped when he saw George standing with her at the corner.
His hand cupped Elara’s cheeks, and from where he was standing, he could clearly see the affection in the man’s eyes.
"Elara!" Andrew raised his voice, and Elara turned to look at him, her brows raised.
What was he doing here? And how the hell did he find her? She wondered.
She quickly tied her hair and put on her hat, since she was still wearing men’s clothes.
He stormed to the duo and grabbed Elara’s hand before pulling her away from George.
George wanted to stop Andrew, but knowing how it might cause a scene and grab their father’s—and Daniel’s—attention, he didn’t follow her, signaling Antonio to follow her and ensure she was alright and that lousy man wouldn’t be able to hurt her.
George ruffled his hair in annoyance before he stepped out of the area, his gaze falling on Candice, who was standing behind the wall.
"You heard everything, Miss Candice," George stated, and Candice nodded.
"Pretend like you don’t know anything. Wait for her to tell you the truth," George said before he nodded at her and left to go to his father’s side.
Elara let the man pull her to some distance before she stopped, making Andrew stop and look at her.
"What is it?" She asked.
Her soft expression, reserved only for her brother, was long gone, and Andrew could feel the stark difference.
"What is it? Are you seriously asking me that? You tell me. What was it? What has been going on in your head these days? This... everything... What the hell are you trying to do?" Andrew asked.
He couldn’t say she was doing all this to catch his attention anymore. He himself witnessed everything. But if not for that, why was she going all of a sudden? What was the motive behind it?
Elara’s gaze was blank before she pulled her hand from his grip, massaging her wrist.
Andrew felt a bit guilty for holding her hand so tightly earlier.
"I am..." He started to apologize but was cut off by Antonio.
"Are you alright, Miss Elara?" he asked, noticing how this ex-husband of hers was bothering her.
Elara nodded to her bodyguard before throwing one last disdainful look at Andrew and going straight to the area where she had changed into her outfit.
She changed back into her clothes and was greeted by Candice as soon as she exited.
"Hey, are you alright? I saw Mr. George pull you away but lost sight of you," Candice said.
Elara smiled.
"Everything’s alright. How did your father’s exhibition go?" Elara asked, acting like a poised and elegant lady again.
"Miss Elara,"
Elara turned around and smiled awkwardly.
"Where did you go? I have been looking around for you. I almost thought someone abducted the talent I just signed today." Worry was written all over Mr. Nate’s face, and Elara laughed at his choice of words.
"I just got lost momentarily." She winked at Candice to keep it a secret, and the girl smiled helplessly before nodding.
Once Elara received the message from George that he had sent their father away by lying about a company emergency, she couldn’t help but sigh in relief.
However, if she thought her problems were gone, she was in for another surprise.
