CHAPTER 46: THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN HELP

In the Rosellette restaurant, under the chandelier, at the center of the dining hall, a group of ladies sat around a round table, all from elite and influential families in society, most ruling the nation with their wealth and making headlines now and then for their family businesses.

"Is that true, Carla? Dream Love Enterprises dropped you as their star?" Carla’s best friend Zeenat asked.

Carla looked at her before looking at others who were quite busy eating and drinking their wines while gossiping about the upcoming drama.

"Don’t mention it here. With the ongoing scandal, everything has been a mess," Carla said.

She was always the star of such social circles, catching everyone’s attention with her limited collection of dresses and accessories, sometimes boasting about her success, which was not dependent on her family, unlike many others—but not today.

Today, she preferred to stay low, hoping no one would bring up the scandal and taint her name even more.

"Nothing could be done. I heard it was Macros’ group who asked Noah to drop you." Zeenat asked.

Carla’s eyes narrowed at her words.

She was pretty sure no one apart from her family and Noah knew who the person was behind her getting banned

In fact, she was riding on the coattails of these rumors to make it seem as if she had been dropped because of the scandal, not because of someone else’s influence.

Why? Because the former one was easy to handle, and if she showed her talent, people would still hire her. But if anyone heard that the reason was the Macros group, no one in the province would dare take her as their artist.

"I don’t know what I did to that group. We have been trying to trace the person who has been uploading the rumors back-to-back, but so far, we have come up with nothing," Carla said.

Zeenat nodded in understanding before continuing to eat.

As she grabbed her glass of wine, her gaze fell on the further end, and a man caught her eyes, her pupils dilating for a brief second.

"You know, if there’s anyone in this world who can help you against the Macros’ group, it’s the Frost family," Zeenat mentioned.

Carla furrowed her brows and was about to ask what she meant when she followed her friend’s gaze and looked at George Frost dining with a familiar woman.

"She is the celebrity Hannah Jester, right?" Carla nearly gasped.

"Who is she dining with? I have seen this face before." She squinted her eyes to remember.

Zeenat raised her brows.

"For someone whose brother is almost in the headlines for his business daily, you are quite dumb in that field. You could recognize the celebrity but not the man? He is George Frost. The heir to the Frost’s group. For some reason, Macros’ group never bothers with them," Zeenat said.

Carla’s left brow quirked at the news.

"Are they friends?" she asked.

Zeenat shook her head.

"On the contrary, they are called rivals. No one knows what the rivalry is about, but you will never see them having a calm dinner together until it’s business," Zeenat explained.

As Carla heard, realization finally dawned upon her.

Right. She had seen Elara dining with that man before, along with Candice Stewart.

If this man was so influential, as Zeenat said, how the hell did Elara know him? Could it be that she knew him because of Candice? That actually made sense.

"Why does Stewart’s daughter never join us?" Carla asked, and Zeenat shrugged, unsure herself.

Carla looked at the man, who seemed muscular and dominant. She wouldn’t lie. That man was indeed handsome, and if she hadn’t seen him with Elara earlier, maybe she would have even tried to hit on him and flirt...

Wait. Could it be that Elara was trying to cozy up to this man to get her work done and gain a foothold in the industry? That could be the case.

Maybe Elara was the one who asked Candice to introduce her to George.

"If what you said is true, there’s no harm in trying, no?" Carla stood and walked to where George was dining with Hannah.

"Miss Hannah, what a pleasant surprise," Carla said with her wine glass still in hand.

Since Carla was a famous singer herself, Hannah recognized her in a second.

"Carla, what a surprise, indeed. What are you doing here?" Hannah asked, standing from her seat to hug Carla.

"Just dining with friends. I was a bit startled when I saw you. When did you return from Germany?" Carla asked to keep the conversation going.

She nodded at George in acknowledgement, smiling.

George, who clearly remembered from the other day and how she tried to bully his sister, didn’t nod in return.

He had no interest in engaging with such a vile woman.

"It looks like you are here with a date. I hope I am not intruding," Carla smiled elegantly.

"Oh no, sweetheart. You are always welcome to interrupt me. He is not my date but rather my business partner on a project I want to launch in the market soon. I am sure you already know him. Mr. George," Hannah said.

Now that the lady herself had introduced him, George didn’t want to appear rude and stood to extend his hand to Carla.

"It’s a pleasure," Carla said with a smile.

George’s eyes flashed contempt when he saw how sly this girl was.

It looked like the whole family was a bunch of dramatic idiots.

"How is your singing going? I am not very well-versed in the news these days. The last time I saw you, you were going on a tour to Japan, no?" Hannah said.

Carla smiled bitterly.

"Things have changed a bit. Someone spread false rumors about me, and because of that, the Macros group asked Noah to drop me. I don’t know who to ask for help." Carla took a deep breath.

Hannah looked at the girl pitifully. After all, she practically saw the girl grow into such a fine lady. Though she was usually busy with her acting proposals, she occasionally met Lloyd’s family.

"What are Macros doing intervening in this?" Hannah asked.

Her words even made George raise his brows. He didn’t need to be told who Macros was or who was trying to intervene, and his fists clenched in annoyance at the thought that the man was probably trying to get his sister’s attention.

The thought alone made him want to go there and punch Daniel in the face.

Seeing George’s fists clenching, Carla’s eyes beamed with mischief.

It looked like Zeenat was indeed right. The man hated Daniel a lot, enough to forget about the last incident.

"George can help you," Hannah said out of the blue, and Carla looked at him with wide, innocent eyes.

"Can you really?" She asked, making George look at her as he contemplated a few things.
