Chapter 140 - 140 Demon Rampage!
The demon's situation was still unknown, but the harassment from the fiends in front of him was making Chu Feng utterly irritable.
"All of you, go to hell!"
Over a dozen snow-white blade lights instantly slashed out in all directions, covering the ground where Chu Feng stood with thick layers of ash.
When his vision finally cleared, what he saw among the chains made Chu Feng's expression change instantly.
The demon, firmly bound by the chains, was actually melting!
Chu Feng blinked hard, unable to believe his eyes, but the sight before him remained unchanged.
The demon, melting like a candle, quickly turned into a pool of viscous, blood-colored liquid, looking utterly disgusting.
Although the chains tightened as the demon's body melted, they could not stop the flow of the liquid.
Soon, the blood-colored liquid flowed through the gaps between the chains onto the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge. The silver Spirit-binding Chain, having lost its target, lay scattered on the ground.
What's going on? Did the demon commit suicide? Recalling the demons he had fought before, Chu Feng immediately dismissed the idea. Impossible. Demons are insidious, cunning, and malicious... They are capable of all kinds of evil, but they would never commit suicide.
Besides, these damned fiends aren't dead yet! Watching the fiends approach again, Chu Feng flicked his left hand, and the silver chains lying quietly on the ground instantly began to dance.
Under Chu Feng's control, the other end of the chain, like a moving spearhead, stabbed straight at the surrounding fiends.
The 'candied hawthorn stringing' began.
Accompanied by the RATTLE of the chains, the silver Spirit-binding Chain freely shuttled through the air.
SQUELCH! SQUELCH! SQUELCH!
The sound of the chains piercing through flesh was incessant. This time, Chu Feng was ruthless, determined to eliminate all these annoying flies.
While Chu Feng was controlling the chains' dance in midair, the blood-colored liquid that the demon had turned into finally began to stir on the ground.
The blood-colored liquid seemed to come to life. Originally flat on the ground, it slowly began to writhe and converge, and a humanoid figure with horns on its head gradually manifested from it.
Once the figure was fully formed, the outer layer of liquid writhed again, slowly solidifying into dark red skin, pitch-black nails...
Meanwhile, Chu Feng caught glimpses of the blood-red humanoid figure through occasional gaps among the fiends.
I fucking knew it! That bastard was just using the Great Demon Disintegration Technique, wasn't it?
Seeing this, Chu Feng could no longer afford to thread all the fiends onto the chains. Spiritual Power surged from his left hand. With a forceful shake, a fierce wave instantly propagated from one end of the chain.
The fiends entwined on the chain, struggling ceaselessly, were turned one by one into ash that filled the sky by the wave carrying Spiritual Power.
For a moment, the entire sky was obscured by ash, so dense that even the heaviest snowfall would seem sparse in comparison.
The falling ash soon piled past Chu Feng's ankles, a testament to the considerable number of fiends that had perished.
In the midst of the falling ashes, an odd and faint sound suddenly reached Chu Feng's ears.
Immediately after, a prickling premonition of danger flashed through Chu Feng's mind.
Not good!
In the critical moment, with no chance to dodge, Chu Feng could only instinctively place his long blade across his chest.
The next instant, a dark light streaked through the falling ash, attacking Chu Feng's heart.
CLANG!
The moment the dazzling sparks appeared, a tremendous force transferred through the long blade sent Chu Feng flying.
This force flung Chu Feng a hundred meters away. If the direction hadn't been favorable, he might have plunged into the sea!
Supporting himself with his long blade to stand, Chu Feng realized he had been flung to the very edge of the Golden Gate Bridge, just one step shy of a swim in the sea.
So the demon got a power-up? Chu Feng mused sarcastically, looking at the demon that walked out from the ashes, now significantly shorter.
"It's all your fault! I want you dead!"
Seeing its now shrunken form, the demon's blood-red eyes began to stream with crimson liquid.
"Is getting a little smaller really such a big deal? Besides, your figure looks quite proportionate now!"
Noticing the demon's extreme hatred, Chu Feng gripped his long blade tighter and taunted the creature.
My rank is doomed to decline because of this human, and yet he still dares to mock me!
Consumed by hatred, the demon felt the temporary surge of immense strength gained at the cost of its rank and resolved to tear the human to shreds.
"Die!"
The demon's body moved like a streak of light, appearing before Chu Feng in the blink of an eye, its pitch-black claws glistening with a bizarre sheen.
Such incredible speed!
Chu Feng was taken aback, realizing the opponent's speed had increased by at least thirty percent. Even though he was prepared and retreated rapidly, he barely dodged the attack.
Unfortunately, the suspension cables of the Golden Gate Bridge near Chu Feng weren't so lucky.
The once sturdy cables were as fragile as tofu under the demon's black, gleaming claws. The bizarre energy coating the claw tips easily severed a cable.
BOOM!
The sound of the cable snapping was dull, not crisp. However, seeing the cable sway, Chu Feng's heart lurched with alarm.
The Golden Gate Bridge is in danger!
But Chu Feng had no time to worry about the Golden Gate Bridge's safety, as the power-boosted demon had already reappeared before him.
So relentless!
Frowning, Chu Feng's gaze flicked upwards, catching sight of a steel cable diagonally above him.
Good thing I already chopped off its wings...
Holding his long blade horizontally, Chu Feng barely blocked the demon's sharp claws, using the impact's momentum to propel himself backward into the air.
Already prepared, Chu Feng, now in midair, hurled the Spirit-binding Chain towards the top of the Bridge Tower.
A second before Chu Feng would have landed, a pull from the silver chain yanked him back up into the sky.
Success!
Chu Feng brushed past the charging demon, completely evading its follow-up attack.
"Damn human, come down here!"
The demon, steadying itself, glared at Chu Feng soaring through the air. The sight instantly reminded it of its recently severed wings, further fueling its hatred for him.
It bent its knees and then leaped high, shooting towards Chu Feng like a cannonball.
Chu Feng, having just steadied himself atop the Bridge Tower, naturally wouldn't let the creature reach him. The silver Spirit-binding Chain instantly writhed, transforming into the shape of a frying pan.
CLANG!
The clear ring of the impact sounded particularly pleasing.
The demon, unable to find leverage in the air, plummeted like a meteor.
BOOM!
Following a loud crash, the demon smashed a huge crater into the wide bridge deck. At the center of the deep pit, the blue sea below was faintly visible.
