The exorcism began in America.
Chapter 149 - 149 Felix
Several questions emerged in Chu Feng's mind, making him feel that there was definitely something amiss with this federal government commission.
First, the population there was too sparse, which did not meet the environmental requirements for Bizarre phenomena to grow rapidly.
Second, ordinary Bizarre beings typically avoided human military bases. While human firearms posed little threat, missiles and similar weaponry could still likely harm them.
Third, under normal circumstances, authorities would handle any Bizarre event internally and swiftly. This was especially true if military secrets were involved. Allowing someone like him, who lacked even American citizenship, to investigate was highly unusual.
Chu Feng continued reading, and a general introduction to the Bizarre event followed.
"Every night the snowstorm arrives on time, and then, it takes living people away?" As he read the brief introduction, Chu Feng was somewhat baffled.
"The information they sent over is just this much," Lin Qiu explained. "And this time, the commission isn't for you to eliminate the Bizarre being, but to protect the still-living civilians in Fairbanks. As for that Bizarre, they've probably arranged for someone else to deal with it!"
After hearing Lin Qiu's words, an idea suddenly sprang to Chu Feng's mind. He looked up at Lin Qiu and asked, "Is it that Exorcist they're trying to make into a star?"
"Although there's no specific news, it's very likely that person." Lin Qiu's expression was very serious, his eyes carrying a hint of chill.
Chu Feng nodded knowingly and let out a light chuckle.
"Alright, go tell them that we can take the commission. However, my protection time is only six hours, and all the people must be gathered together."
Hearing Chu Feng's words, Lin Qiu's face was full of confusion.
"Why should we take this commission? It's clear that they want to use your fame to push that person to the forefront. That's a loss-making deal for us."
"That also depends on whether he has the strength for it!" Chu Feng tapped his fingers lightly on the table, his eyes narrowing slightly. "A snowstorm that arrives on time every day? This Bizarre's strength is truly considerable!"
"You mean..." Lin Qiu instantly understood Chu Feng's thoughts and couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the Exorcist being pushed forward.
An ordinary Exorcist likely wouldn't even be qualified to face a Bizarre that Chu Feng himself considered strong.
"By the way, the commission amount here needs to be changed. Fifty million US Dollars is too little! Tell them that if they want me to protect those civilians and play along with their show, three hundred million US Dollars is the minimum price."
Chu Feng pointed to the final commission amount, his expression somewhat dissatisfied. They want me to cooperate with their performance for such a paltry sum? My appearance fee isn't low.
"Okay, I will definitely relay the message to them as soon as possible." A smile also appeared on Lin Qiu's face, clearly showing his approval of Chu Feng's decision.
At this time, at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, within a private room, a Black lieutenant had just handed a document to a handsome young man.
"Mr. Felix Alvarado, this is the document the higher-ups ordered me to give you," the Black lieutenant said, offering a standard military salute.
The young man, who returned a standard military salute, took the document and immediately sat down at the desk to review it.
The room was brightly lit. The young man—with his neat blonde short hair, deep blue eyes, and a pale, angular face handsome enough to be a star—was seriously reading the document before him.
The Black lieutenant, seeing there was nothing else for him to do, turned and swiftly left the room.
"Every night at eight o'clock, the snowstorm arrives on time... humans disappearing without a trace."
"The snowmen that suddenly appear outside the houses the next day, and the strange behavior of the families of the missing..."
Mutterings continuously escaped the lips of the young man named Felix. Clearly, the document before him contained far more detailed information than the brief message Chu Feng had received.
Only one victim each time... It does seem like the work of a somewhat powerful Evil Spirit.
After Felix murmured his confirmation, a confident smile finally appeared on his face.
"The Evil Spirit's strength... I can handle it!"
CLICK.
The slight sound of the door opening interrupted the young man's thoughts. A portly elder with a ruddy complexion, dressed in a suit, entered briskly.
"How is it, Felix? Can you handle this Bizarre? Do we need to call in some people from the Exorcism Department to assist you?" the old man asked softly, his face bearing a kind smile as he looked at Felix's youthful countenance.
"Uncle Dalton, I believe this Bizarre is a fairly powerful Evil Spirit, but I should be able to deal with it!" Felix replied, a confident smile appearing on his face as he saw the old man. His young voice was full of assurance.
"That's good to hear. This will be your debut in the spotlight, and we can't afford any mistakes. The higher-ups are all waiting for our good news!"
The elder patted Felix on the shoulder and turned to walk out of the room.
"You study this Bizarre's information first; I still have some matters to attend to."
CLICK. The door closed again, and the old man was already outside.
The moment the door shut, the amiable smile vanished from the elder's face without a trace, replaced by an expression of utter seriousness.
"Go, notify Major General Harris and request that he send two Exorcism squads here. We absolutely cannot afford any slip-ups with this mission!"
"Yes, sir!" an aide who had been waiting nearby nodded and immediately turned to carry out the elder's orders.
Once the aide had left, Dalton turned his head to gaze at Felix's room door, his bright eyes revealing a touch of cold indifference.
Let's hope nothing goes wrong!
Meanwhile, inside the room, Felix, who had just appeared to be a naive young man, lost his smile the instant the door closed.
At that moment, his expression was indifferent, his gaze unfocused as he looked towards the door, seemingly lost in thought.
About forty-six kilometers northwest of Eielson Air Force Base lies the small town of Fairbanks.
Due to the nightly snowstorms, the temperature in the city had already dropped to more than twenty degrees below zero Celsius.
On the edge of the city, the Cole family of three was sitting in their dining room, eating lunch.
It was an overcast day. The curtains in the dining room windows were drawn, whether intentionally or not, and no lights were on. Consequently, even at midday, the house seemed dim.
"Daddy, Katie feed you," a little blonde girl said, carefully extending a piece of sandwich toward Cole's mouth with her tiny fork.
"Katie, don't bother Daddy!" her mother's reprimanding voice came from the other side, causing Katie to secretly stick out her tongue.
