The exorcism began in America.
Chapter 29: Heading to Paris
CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: HEADING TO PARIS
Chu Feng looked at the transaction details on his phone several times more, finally making sure the amount was correct before he stood up and stretched languidly.
"Time to head home!"
He turned and left the police station. Behind him, bursts of cheers from the officers occasionally erupted, celebrating as if they had completely forgotten the recent gunfight.
Sometimes, Chu Feng had to admit that the power of money was indeed very strong.
Half an hour later, Chu Feng, who had just had a brush with death, finally returned to his home. He collapsed wearily onto his large bed and fell into a deep sleep, sleeping straight through until noon the next day.
"Ahh... that’s the stuff!"
Waking up naturally, Chu Feng stretched greatly. He got out of bed, opened the curtains, and glanced outside. New York’s winter sunlight shone on him, giving him a mildly warm feeling.
The expanse of white snow outside the villa instantly reminded him of his hometown. At this time of year, his hometown would also be covered in thick snow, a beautiful sight that captivated many.
"Sigh~"
He sighed softly. Chu Feng’s thoughts drifted back to the Evil Spirit from Hell he encountered yesterday. From what it had implied, it seemed Hell had designs on his hometown. Unfortunately, the Evil Spirit’s lips were tightly sealed; it hadn’t uttered a word despite the severe beating he gave it. So unyielding!
Chu Feng turned, went to the bathroom to freshen up, then sat leisurely at the dining table and began to enjoy his breakfast (or lunch). Having had a near-death experience just the day before, Chu Feng wanted to take today off.
"BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ..."
The sudden vibration of his phone disrupted everything.
Picking up his phone, an unfamiliar international call number appeared before Chu Feng’s eyes.
"Hello?"
With confusion, Chu Feng answered the call.
A somewhat familiar, aged voice came from the other end of the line.
"Chu, are you all right?"
"Bishop Connell?"
"Yes, it’s me! Chu, you need to come to Paris."
"Okay, Bishop Connell. I’ll be in Paris in two days."
"Good, I’ll be waiting for you here."
Without any unnecessary questions, Chu Feng had long known that the fifty million US dollars from The Holy See wasn’t for nothing. Clearly, it was now time for him to do his part.
Chu Feng held his phone for a moment, then decided to call Tatyana.
"Hi, Tatyana!"
"Chu, the job you did with Mr. Mancini was just brilliant!"
Tatyana, receiving Chu Feng’s call, sounded genuinely pleased, a hint of excitement in her tone.
"Thanks for your compliment, Tatyana. Can you do me a favor?"
"Chu, you’re my friend. Just tell me what you need."
His heart warmed by her words; it felt great to have a wealthy friend like her!
"I want to arrive in Paris the day after tomorrow. Can you sort out my visa issue?"
"That’s easy. You should have it by tomorrow morning!"
Tatyana’s tone was relaxed upon hearing Chu Feng’s request. What might be difficult for ordinary people was a simple matter for someone of her stature.
"Tatyana, thank you!" Chu Feng sincerely expressed his gratitude.
"Chu, no need for thanks. Just don’t avoid me anymore!" Tatyana’s voice carried a trace of complaint, clearly dissatisfied with Chu Feng’s previous evasion.
Chu Feng felt noticeably awkward at her remark. "All right, next time for sure!"
Having hung up the phone, Chu Feng wiped away non-existent sweat from his forehead. What to do when entangled with a wealthy patroness who only knows how to flirt? Waiting online for answers.
That’s right, James should be notified too! He didn’t know how many days he would be in Paris. To prevent James from taking orders and being unable to find him, it was better to inform him in advance.
After getting through to James, he informed him that he wouldn’t be in New York for a while and not to take on any new clients for the time being.
Having hung up the phone, Chu Feng also pondered to himself. After coming back from Paris, should I consider recruiting a few assistants? An Exorcism Agency with just one person seems a bit too quiet.
The next morning, Chu Feng received the document bag sent by Tatyana’s messenger. After opening it, he found not just the visa he requested, but also a plane ticket from New York to Paris for noon that day.
Tatyana...
Shaking his head to clear the complicated thoughts from his mind, he heard several car horns sound from outside. It seemed James had arrived!
All his belongings packed in his Storage Space, Chu Feng stepped into James’s yellow taxi empty-handed.
This time, due to the route, they didn’t encounter New York’s daily parade program and reached the airport smoothly.
"Chu, give me a call when you come back. I’ll come pick you up!"
"Okay! When I get back, you can continue to take clients!"
Waving goodbye to James’s yellow taxi, Chu Feng entered the airport alone.
A few hours later, a plane heading to Paris took off smoothly. Inside the first-class cabin, Chu Feng accepted a glass of water from the flight attendant and comfortably lay back in his already reclined seat. Though his bank account was close to reaching a small goal in US dollars, it was indeed his first time in a plane’s first-class cabin. The over seven-hour-long flight, in such a comfortable environment, wasn’t too difficult to endure after all.
Time passed. While Chu Feng, wearing an eye mask, lay on his seat in a state between sleep and wakefulness, a whispering conversation reached his ears.
Irritated, Chu Feng ripped off his eye mask and looked around, surveying the entire cabin. However, he found that the other passengers seemed completely oblivious to those voices. Each person was quietly sitting in their seat, minding their own business.
Seeing this, Chu Feng’s eyebrows furrowed sharply. Voices that ordinary people can’t hear?
Feeling tense, Chu Feng listened carefully to the content of those whispers. The plane was now over ten thousand meters up in the sky. If something unexpected were to happen, everyone on board would surely die. He reckoned that even with the Golden Light Spell activated, preserving an intact corpse would be an achievement!
"Carolina, look at that man from the East, wandering his eyes around. Could he have discovered us?"
"Louise, no need to panic. How could an ordinary person possibly discover us! Are you so focused on him because you’re interested?"
"Get lost! Who would be interested in a piece of food? Though, I don’t think I’ve ever tasted the blood of an Easterner!"
"Neither have I. How about after we get to Paris, you go seduce him, and we can both taste what Easterners are like?"
"Sure! But if I’m the one to seduce him, I call first dibs on biting."
Having clearly heard the content of the whispering, Chu Feng’s face grew darker and darker, and his clenched fists, from gripping too hard, even made a cracking sound.
A strange smile curled on Chu Feng’s lips. These two ignorant creatures... it seems this trip to Paris is going to be very interesting!
He glanced at the Spirit-Seeking Compass on his wrist, but its needle showed no unusual movement.
