The exorcism began in America.
Chapter 31: Becoming a Nanny?
CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: BECOMING A NANNY?
"AAAAAAAH..."
The vampire shrieked even more agonizingly as the Holy Water made contact. The affected part of its body seemed to dissolve, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
"Bishop Connell, I wonder if Silverware and garlic are also effective against vampires?"
This was Chu Feng’s first encounter with such a Dark Creature, and he was curious if they matched the legends.
"Silverware is indeed effective; it can even kill vampires! However, garlic has no effect. Not all legends are true."
"Oh? Is that so?"
Chu Feng’s eyes shifted as he browsed the system shop. In no time at all, a silver dagger instantly appeared in his hand.
"Bishop Connell, please allow me to conduct an experiment first!"
After speaking to the old man, Chu Feng approached the vampire, which was still screaming in pain.
"You damned human! Despicable food! I will tear you to shreds!"
Seeing Chu Feng again, the vampire glared, its eyes burning with a rage so intense it seemed to want to devour him alive.
"Food? Your words remind me of something I once read online: ’There are demons in Xiling that resemble humans, with red eyes and sharp fangs, hiding by day and hunting for human blood at night, consuming it for longevity and health.’"
"F**K, you damned ***..."
The vampire, naturally, couldn’t understand Chu Feng’s perfectly enunciated native tongue and only shrieked curses.
Of course, Chu Feng didn’t expect her to understand. A faint smile touched his lips as he raised the silver dagger high and brought it down decisively.
"AWOOO..."
Precisely stabbed in the chest, the vampire let out a long howl that echoed through the basement.
With its heart pierced by silver, the vampire’s body flared up like a burning paper effigy, instantly turning into a pile of pitch-black ash.
"No... Louise! You damned humans, lowly food! F**K..."
Witnessing its companion, Louise, die, the fangs of another nearby vampire grew even more menacing.
Unwilling to die at human hands, its slender arms erupted with astonishing strength. The chains binding her rattled violently with a CLANG.
"Bishop Connell, is this vampire of any use to the church?"
Playing with the silver dagger in his hand, Chu Feng looked over at Bishop Connell.
"What use could a vampire have to the church? She’s yours now, Chu. Deal with her!"
Bishop Connell chuckled, shook his head, and then turned to leave the basement with the others.
"Now, you’re mine! Little bat, do you still think I didn’t overhear your conversation on the plane?"
A smile tugging at his lips, Chu Feng looked at the struggling vampire. He swung his arm and plunged the dagger straight into her prominent chest.
The effect was like a rapid burn. Within moments, all that remained on the slab where the vampire had been bound was a heap of pitch-black ash.
"DING! Congratulations Host, for killing two vampires, you will receive the following rewards:
1. Strength Attribute: 8 points, Physique Attribute: 8 points, Mental Attribute: 6 points, Spiritual Power Attribute: 8 points
2. Lifespan: 2 years"
"System, is this all you’re rewarding? Aren’t there any Skills or something?"
Chu Feng was incredulous that two vampires yielded such meager rewards.
"DING! The System’s rewards are accurate. Please face reality, Host."
Facing the System’s mechanical voice, Chu Feng could only accept it.
"Alright then! Apply all the rewards!"
"DING! All rewards have been applied!"
The updated system panel appeared before Chu Feng.

When Chu Feng walked out of the basement, only Bishop Connell remained at the entrance.
The two walked in the courtyard behind St. Louis Cathedral, bathed in the warm sunshine.
"Chu, I didn’t expect you to hate these evil creatures so much!"
"Of course. As an Exorcist, I am irreconcilably opposed to evil!" Chu Feng’s expression was very firm as he answered.
In fact, if the two vampires hadn’t plotted to drain his blood, Chu Feng, receiving no payment, might not have intervened at all!
Bishop Connell looked at Chu Feng with a benevolent expression, smiled, and shook his head.
"Chu, do you know why I called you here this time?"
"I assume you didn’t bring an Exorcist all the way from the United States just to treat me to dinner, did you? So, out with it. What’s the problem? Some Bizarre phenomenon? Or more vampires like those in the basement?"
Chu Feng stopped, his gaze fixed intently on the silver-haired Bishop Connell before him.
"Heh, you’re quite direct! Yes, this time the targets are indeed Dark Creatures, but they aren’t the primary objective."
Bishop Connell’s words left Chu Feng somewhat baffled; he could only look at the bishop in confusion.
"Chu, you are currently the strongest Exorcist in America, with a wealth of Exorcism experience. I imagine leading a few students in an Exorcism shouldn’t be a problem for you, right?"
"No, no, no! Bishop Connell, please assign this task to someone else. I have no experience teaching students!" Hearing this, Chu Feng immediately waved his hands, shaking his head in refusal.
What a joke! Exorcism isn’t a dinner party; people can die if you’re not careful! If something went wrong and his fifty million US Dollars vanished, the loss would be enormous!
"Chu, you are now a bishop of the Religious Tribunal. Guiding The Holy See’s personnel in Exorcism is your duty!"
"Of course, you don’t need to worry. Those sent to you won’t be completely incapable rookies.
"They are all priests and Monks who possess Holy Power.
"Self-preservation, at least, shouldn’t be an issue for them.
"They just lack experience fighting against Bizarre phenomena and Dark Creatures."
Bishop Connell first sternly reiterated Chu Feng’s responsibilities, then adopted a gentler tone to persuade him.
This old man really knows how to use the carrot and stick approach, Chu Feng sighed inwardly.
"So, you called me to Paris this time just to play nanny for The Holy See’s new recruits?"
"Heh, you could put it that way. The Holy See needs them to gain Exorcism experience to reduce casualties when they perform Exorcisms independently in the future."
After hearing all this, Chu Feng finally understood! So this bishop title was just for this, huh? That fifty million US Dollar reward from The Holy See certainly isn’t easy money.
"Bishop Connell, I have a question. Why me? Doesn’t The Holy See have Exorcists with Exorcism experience?"
Bishop Connell seemed to have anticipated Chu Feng’s question.
"Chu, you should be well aware of the dangers of Exorcism! Do you think an ordinary Exorcist could bear such a heavy responsibility?"
Chu Feng nodded in understanding.
It was indeed the case. The resurgence of Bizarre phenomena had begun less than a year ago. An ordinary Exorcist, whose Spiritual Power had only recently awakened, would approach every Exorcism trembling with apprehension. Any slight misstep could lead to death! Exorcists who naturally awakened with tremendous Spiritual Power were exceedingly rare, let alone a cheat-level existence like him!
