CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47 THE FOUR TRAPPED PEOPLE

"Let’s go, we’ll pass through here."

After nodding to Taran beside him, Chu Feng cautiously moved forward, shotgun in hand.

Taran, her Spiritual Power not fully recovered, naturally didn’t dare to stray too far from Chu Feng and hurriedly followed, also holding her shotgun.

Reaching the door of the adjacent hospital room and hearing no sound from within, Chu Feng peered inside.

Inside the dimly lit hospital room, the bed was overturned to one side, and the walls were mottled with crimson bloodstains. In the center of the room, a figure sat slumped in a pool of blood, its head hanging low.

His blood-drenched clothes were unrecognizable, but a cross around his neck suggested he might have been from a church in New York.

"It’s Mr. Sang Bern! How could it be...?"

Taran, who had followed, recognized the figure in the hospital room at a glance.

"You knew him?"

"Yes, we interacted during an Exorcist banquet before."

Taran looked visibly dejected.

"Wait, an Exorcist banquet? How come I never attended one?"

"Uh... maybe you were too mysterious back then! So we didn’t invite you."

"Fair enough!"

Learning for the first time that he had been excluded, Chu Feng could only shake his head in resignation before pushing open the door to the hospital room before him.

"Let’s see if Mr. Sang Bern’s killer is still around."

As Chu Feng and Taran entered the hospital room, the corpse slumped in the center seemed to spring to life.

Its head lifted stiffly, and the body rose jerkily, like a rusty robot, its movements halting and unnatural.

"Hmm, the killer is still here! Looks like we can avenge Mr. Sang Bern!"

Mr. Sang Bern, now standing, had a mouth torn open to his ears. He let out a piercing howl at Chu Feng and Taran, then stretched out his severely deformed arms and lunged at them with the speed of a sprinter.

BANG!

A wisp of smoke drifted from the muzzle of Chu Feng’s shotgun.

"Perfect hit!"

After glancing at the headless corpse, Chu Feng turned and left the hospital room.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host, for killing an Evil Spirit. You will receive the following rewards:

1. Strength Attribute: 2 points, Physique Attribute: 2 points, Mental Attribute: 1 point, Spiritual Power Attribute: 3 points.

2. Lifespan: 1 year."

"Heh!"

After glancing at the rewards dropped by the Evil Spirit, Chu Feng snorted, expressing his disdain for its strength.

"Let’s go, Taran!"

He called out to the woman, who was still standing there dumbfounded, then walked towards the next room.

"Oh... Oh!"

Taran, following behind, stared in disbelief at the Evil Spirit’s corpse on the ground. She then examined the shotgun in her hands closely. Despite having witnessed it a few times, she was still shocked by the power of Chu Feng’s shotgun.

Outside the third hospital room, Chu Feng frowned as he looked at the room, its door now missing.

Through the empty doorway, the scene inside the hospital room came into view for Chu Feng and Taran, who was close behind.

Two beds, now positioned in the middle of the room, were drenched in fresh blood. Scattered around them on the floor were several dismembered limbs that couldn’t be pieced back together.

"Looks like there’s nothing to gain in this room."

After entering the hospital room, Chu Feng waited for a while, but nothing unusual happened.

"Hmm, there doesn’t seem to be anything Bizarre here," commented Taran, who had just entered. She held a crystal-clear Crystal in her hand, walking around the hospital room and paying close attention to its reactions.

"Wait, that can detect if there’s anything Bizarre here?" Chu Feng looked at Taran’s Crystal in surprise.

"That’s right! However, it can only react to Bizarre forces in close proximity; it’s useless for anything further away!"

Chu Feng shifted his gaze from the Crystal to the Spirit-Seeking Compass on his wrist, feeling somewhat disappointed. Although the Spirit-Seeking Compass had an extensive range, when many Bizarre entities were within that range, its needle could only swing back and forth as it was doing now.

I wonder what a high-level Spirit-Seeking Compass would be like?

After glancing at the prices for high-level Compasses in the store, Chu Feng quickly closed the interface.

They’ve gone up a thousandfold! Can’t afford it! Can’t afford it!

He sighed inwardly. Nearly eighty million US dollars in my account, and I’m still a pauper. Who would have thought?

Behind this hospital room was the emergency laboratory.

Chu Feng and Taran made a round inside but found nothing Bizarre apart from a few pools of fresh blood.

Upon exiting, they focused on the rooms on the other side of the second-floor corridor, especially the third hospital room, from which some noise was emanating.

"Let’s go check it out."

They passed the first two hospital rooms, glancing quickly inside each. Finding nothing, they headed directly for the third hospital room.

Inside the third hospital room, two beds and a cabinet had been twisted into pretzel-like shapes by an unknown force and were now carelessly tossed into a corner.

At the far end of the room stood four individuals in different attire. Three of them, their faces deathly pale, were in a standoff with over a dozen Bizarre entities. Behind them stood another man, also pale-faced, whose completely soaked white casual pants indicated he had no combat ability whatsoever.

"Lin, recover your Spiritual Power first. We’ll support the protective formation with our Spiritual Power," a middle-aged man in Indian attire—deerskin clothes and a feathered headdress—wiped the sweat from his forehead and spoke to the young East Asian-looking woman beside him.

"Alright, you guys hold on!"

The woman didn’t refuse and sat down directly behind the two men. She cast a disdainful glance at the other East Asian-looking man beside her before crossing her long, slender legs, clad in black jeans, trying to distance herself as much as possible from him in the cramped space.

She had tied her long, dark hair into a high ponytail. After brushing a few stray strands from her forehead, where beads of sweat glistened on her perfect oval face, she closed her beautiful eyes. She seized the brief moment to rest, aiming to recover as much Spiritual Power as possible.

Meanwhile, the two standing men continued to channel their dwindling Spiritual Power, maintaining a steady rhythm as they continuously fed it into the Formation Pattern beneath them.

Inside the room, Bizarre entities swarmed—on the ceiling, within the walls, and on the floor—all intently watching the four people within the protective formation. Their sheer numbers made the already small hospital room feel incredibly cramped.

Every so often, a few impatient Evil Spirits would attack the protective formation, causing ripples to spread across the surface of the barrier protecting the four.

Just as the standoff between the four people and the multitude of Bizarre entities in the room reached a stalemate, Chu Feng and Taran arrived outside this hospital room.
