CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55 CONSECUTIVE CHANGES (VOTE FOR ME!)
Everyone had just landed when, suddenly, a γ-shaped fissure in the ground ahead lit up with a crimson, blood-like glow. The next second, the ground began to tremble violently. They swayed like sailboats struggling in a storm, on the verge of capsizing. Had they not all been Exorcists with strength far surpassing ordinary people, they might have already collapsed to the ground.
"What’s happening? What’s going on?"
"I don’t know. Something might have been activated? Everyone, be careful!"
While they struggled to maintain their balance amidst the earth’s violent tremors, a giant, blood-red, γ-shaped entity slowly rose from the Rune outlined by the fissure before them. Everyone stared blankly at the scene until the entity stopped mid-air, at which point the tremors abruptly ceased.
Not good! We need to destroy it quickly! Chu Feng, looking through the blood-red Rune in mid-air, was shocked to discover that the Gate of Breaking Boundary had, unbeknownst to them, already opened by one-fifth.
Without waiting for the others to react, Chu Feng leaped. In an instant, his figure, long blade in hand, appeared beside the blood-red Rune in mid-air. Veins bulging on his hands, he tightly gripped the handle of the Demon Hunting Blade, raising it high above his head.
"Shatter!" he roared.
Accompanied by his low roar, the red-and-blue blade flashed like silver lightning, instantly colliding with the blood-red Rune.
CLANG~~~!
A sound like the long, resonating toll of an ancient bell rang out, and Chu Feng’s figure was blasted back like a cannonball.
How is this possible? Taran and the others watched Chu Feng get sent flying, their faces filled with disbelief.
"You might want to look over here!" Dimo’s somewhat trembling voice came from the other side.
The group looked in the direction of the sound. The corpse wall that had previously blocked them was now writhing as if alive. Soon, two-meter-tall, hairless, emaciated, bluish-skinned, faceless monsters squeezed out from the corpse wall one after another, like a fresh batch of dumplings. Accompanied by terrifying howls, countless faceless monsters, as if signaled, rushed madly towards Chu Feng and the others.
What... what do we do? Dimo, seeing so many monsters for the first time, trembled like a leaf, momentarily rooted to the spot.
What else can we do! Chu Feng is in charge of destroying the Rune; as for these monsters, we’ll have to deal with them! Amita gripped her shotgun tightly, her bronzed face set with determination, her sharp gaze fixed on the approaching faceless monsters.
Chu Feng, destroy the Rune as quickly as possible! Whether we survive depends on you! Taran’s face was grave. She turned and exchanged a glance with Lin Qiu beside her.
"Let’s go!" they both shouted in unison and, clutching their shotguns, charged towards the oncoming monsters.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Hearing the sounds of the trio battling the monsters, Dimo, who had stayed behind, looked at them, then glanced back at Chu Feng, who was heading towards the area beneath the Rune.
"F**K! Damned monsters, damned Demons, damned..." Dimo cursed, firmly clenching his shotgun.
"AHHH!" With a loud roar, Dimo finally mustered his courage and charged forward bravely.
「」
Behind them, Chu Feng, who had already reached the area beneath the Rune, frowned as he stared at the deep, now-empty chasm directly below it.
There must be a connection point between the Rune and the Formation; otherwise, energy circulation cannot be sustained. But where exactly is the connection point for this Rune?
Glancing at his companions struggling against the faceless monsters behind him, an anxious Chu Feng leaped directly from the edge of the chasm.
THUD!
As Chu Feng slowly stood up from the bottom of the chasm, he made an unexpected discovery. The ground, once presumably covered in blood, was surprisingly solid, showing no signs of being soaked.
Chu Feng moved quickly through the chasm, carefully observing his surroundings while his Spiritual Perception intensely scanned the area. Unfortunately, his Spiritual Perception was heavily suppressed by the energy fluctuations from the Gate of Breaking Boundary, reducing its effective range to barely a meter.
Wait! What’s this?
Just as Chu Feng passed the spot directly beneath the center of the Rune, a blood-red glint flashed at the very edge of his Spiritual Perception’s range. Sensing something unusual, Chu Feng’s expression turned serious. He took a step back, pressing his body against the inner wall of the chasm. Finally, the blood-red glint reappeared within his Spiritual Perception.
I’ve finally found you! Chu Feng thought joyously as the Golden Light Spell enveloped his body at his command.
With the Golden Light Spell enhancing him, Chu Feng’s Attributes surged. He began to use his palm like a shovel, furiously digging into the wall like a miniature excavator. Amidst flying dirt, Chu Feng quickly excavated an opening tall enough for a person.
A meter’s distance was nothing for Chu Feng’s speed, but something unexpected still occurred. Just as he had dug halfway, the source of the blood-red light inside began to move! His Spiritual Perception indicated that it was also slowly moving towards him.
Alive?
Startled, Chu Feng quickly stopped digging and retreated further into the chasm, intently watching the dark hole before him.
BOOM!
With a deafening roar, the hole in front of Chu Feng instantly collapsed. The dust-filled air completely obscured Chu Feng’s vision, preventing him from seeing the entity. However, possessing Spiritual Perception, Chu Feng wasn’t afraid of a surprise attack. Seeing the motionless glint in his Spiritual Perception, Chu Feng frowned, unsure of what the entity intended. However, just because the entity hadn’t acted didn’t mean Chu Feng wouldn’t.
With a flip of his hand, the AA-12 appeared in his grasp.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
After three loud gunshots, a surprised expression appeared on Chu Feng’s face for the first time. His Spiritual Perception showed that the blood-red glow, despite being hit by three bullets, hadn’t fluctuated in the slightest.
How is this possible? Chu Feng, unconvinced, was about to fire again when his Spiritual Perception suddenly blared a frantic warning. The blood-red glow, which had been motionless, finally moved after Chu Feng fired!
A massive, pale purple claw suddenly tore through the dust in front of Chu Feng. A grating sound echoed as sparks flew from Chu Feng’s chest.
The next instant, THUD! Chu Feng’s golden-lit body slammed heavily into the chasm wall.
Although sent flying by the tremendous force, Chu Feng, protected by the Golden Light Spell, was unharmed. He got up and brushed the dirt off himself. When Chu Feng looked up, he finally got a clear view of the monster’s appearance and understood why it hadn’t attacked sooner.
