Chapter 81: Inferno Sword
CHAPTER 81: INFERNO SWORD
"That energy," Raze thought. He immediately looked to his side and saw Gavin staring right at Roger with eyes that burned with rage. It was a subtle rage, but it was slowly growing.
Roger gripped his sword, and the ground cracked from the force alone. He kicked the ground, leaving a small crater as he pushed forward. Gavin pulled out his sword and was about to counter the attack, but Raze dove, tackling Gavin out of the way, barely escaping the blade by just an inch.
"Look, I know you have a lot of beef with the demon beasts and everything connected to them, but snap out of it. That thing isn’t something we can handle ourselves," Raze said, getting off Gavin.
Gavin slowly got up. He looked at Raze’s back. ’I have never told anyone my hatred for demon beasts. How does he know? ’ he thought. He had his speculations about Raze, the fact that Raze was unreadable already raised all the flags in his brain, but now, his suspicions rose even more.
Raze could feel Gavin staring right at him, but that wasn’t the issue now, it was Roger. After they dodged that attack, he caught a quick break and turned around; then Roger lunged in their direction again.
Raze had no other choice. If he didn’t want to end up like when he fought against Shadow, he had to be extremely active and start thinking. He activated God’s Eye, watching everything. He could tell that Roger wasn’t even half the strength of Shadow. He was strong for sure, but he didn’t come close, even with his rage curse.
That fact made Raze’s heart calm down. He watched closely with God’s Eye, and it seemed like everything was in slow motion. He stepped back and dodged the first blade by just an inch, and then at close range, he went with a blast of flames right into Roger’s gut.
BOOM!
The explosion threw him back. He slammed into the ground hard, rolling until he came to a stop. Gavin took that as his opportunity and lunged forward at top speed, sword by his side. He saw Roger lift his head, and he immediately cast a fireball that slammed into him, then followed with a slash. Roger blocked the attack while down on the ground and pushed Gavin back. Leaping to his feet, he followed with slash after slash. Gavin blocked with everything he had.
But each slash packed an extreme explosive force that knocked his hands back. Raze was about to head in and help Gavin, but then Roger’s men finally moved. The slim one with jagged teeth lunged at Raze, attacking with both daggers in a wild fashion, swinging left and right.
Raze leaped back, dodging both attacks. "Tsk, I wish I had my bath," he muttered.
"Hahahaha, why are you running? I just want to see what’s under your skin," the man said with a cackle. He thrust his dagger at Raze’s chest, but Raze didn’t dodge this time. Instead, he grabbed onto the man’s hand and pulled him in. The man was stunned by this but recovered fast and used his free hand to slash. Raze tilted his head back and dodged the attack; the blade cut through some of his hair, scattering them in the air.
He immediately used all his strength to pull the man and push him off in the opposite direction. The man slammed into the rotting wooden wall of a house and broke right through. Raze didn’t stop there, lifting his hands immediately, he formed ten flame arrows and fired all at the same time. They blasted into the house, each one exploding on impact. The flames spread instantly.
The creepy man with sunken eyes and a depraved look pulled out his sword and lunged at Ella, his tongue hanging out. "Lemme have a taste," he said. His face looked disgusting. Ella scrunched her face as she lifted her ring.
"Fireball!" she cast a spell, and the ball of fire shot out. He tried to cut through the flames, thinking it was over, but then another fireball came hurling toward him. It slammed right into his chest and left a nasty burn, knocking him down.
Riker stood with his staff stretched out. He looked at the man on the ground. "You are disgusting," he said.
The man got to his feet slowly, groaning in pain, then started laughing. "Hahaha, hahahaha! I’ll fucking kill you! I’ll kill you!" He pointed his sword at Riker and then attacked like a wild animal, running fast and erratic.
"Flame Arrow!" Riker cast, but the man dodged the attack and kept running toward him. Riker panicked after that and began casting flame arrows as fast as he could, but the erratic movements didn’t allow any attack to hit. The man got within a good range and attacked, slashing right for Riker’s neck. Riker blocked with his staff quickly, the blade leaving only a scratch.
Before the man could attack again, a fireball slammed into him again, throwing him to the ground.
"I’ve had enough of this," Ella said. She lifted her hand up. "Inferno Sword!" she called out, casting a high two-star spell. A glowing orange magical formation formed above her hand. It spun around as a sword made of flames formed above it, burning bright and heavy.
"I’ll not allow you and your dirty gang of disgusting individuals to touch me or anyone close to me again," she said as the sword shot toward the man. He couldn’t even move as the sword penetrated right into his shoulder, burning hot as it entered and came out through his back.
"Arghhhhh!" the man screamed as he collapsed to the ground.
This was the difference between a normal person and a mage, or someone who could use magic. It wasn’t even a close fight. The only reason Riker faced a hard time was due to the fact that he was inexperienced in magic. Ella, on the other hand, was a second-year and a high-level talent. With that thought in mind, she locked her gaze on the next target—Roger, who was currently locked in battle against Gavin.
