Chapter 414: If you love your lives, get out of here
CHAPTER 414: IF YOU LOVE YOUR LIVES, GET OUT OF HERE
"Hey, you!" Their leader pointed at Alice. "I haven’t seen you go take the test yet. What are you doing trying to act cool?"
They paused. What did he just say?
"Hey, punk," Diane stepped up and shoved him by the shoulder. "What are you? The rest police?" She looked spiteful. "It seems you have a death wish. Just mind your goddamn business and walk along if you’re not looking for trouble. Who are you to point at her like that?"
"Hah, I see. You’re all shielding her because she’s weak." He said and they flinched.
He observed their reaction and the expressions on their faces, interpreting it as him hitting the nail on the head, but boy, was he wrong.
He grinned.
Diane gritted her teeth. She didn’t mind a nobody dying for being so ignorant but not there. At least not where everyone else could see.
The last time someone called Alice weak, they almost died. And that someone was Elizabeth.
She was lucky to have the teachers there but these ignorant goons were out of luck. No instructor was paying attention to them so if Alice acted now, they would certainly die.
"You..."
"Shut your mouth." Clarissa yelled, beating everyone’s expectations. "You have no right to say such words."
Clarissa, who was usually level-headed, except for the times her hate from the previous life took over her, just yelled.
"Why are you so worked up?" The leader asked, taking a step back as he feared the energy Clarissa was giving off. "It’s only fair to call someone that’s weak, weak, right?" He looked over at his guys who nodded.
"Y-yeah. It’s only fair."
"I-if they don’t want to be seen as weak. They should work harder."
"You’re insane." Lance said to them but then sighed. "Well, it’s your funeral."
Then, they all turned to Alice to see how she would react but surprisingly, she didn’t react. In fact, she was sleeping.
"What?! When did she fall asleep?" Maki looked at her, shocked.
"Ah, is this a blessing or something?" Lance wondered and then turned to the guys. "You guys are definitely lucky today."
The guys were confused. Why were they saying such weird things? What did it matter if she was sleeping? She was still weak.
"If you love your lives, get out of here." Leo suddenly spoke up and his words, coupled with the deadly gaze he had on them, sent chills down their spines.
But these guys were just too moronic to understand the situation and insisted on courting death.
"S-shut up. We w-wont let someone weaker than us tell us what to do." They ranted with shaking voices and shaking legs. "How dare you threaten us?"
And in that moment, Alice yawned. She stretched her arms and then opened her eyes, looking at the guys in front of them and then at her friends who seemed a little agitated.
Then, she turned back to the guys and asked,
"You guys are still here?"
So, she had definitely been awake the moment they walked up to them but she somehow fell asleep while they were talking.
"You, what are you...?"
"I’m hungry." Alice said as she yawned once more. She tucked her hands into the pocket of her pants and turned to Leo. "Let’s get this over with, shall we? Remember, we skipped breakfast."
"Yeah, I guess there’s no point waiting any longer. He should be here by now." They were talking again and ignoring the guys who were seeking trouble.
It was humiliating.
All eyes were on them and they had become a laughing stock with people whispering about them.
How would they make their debut as popular heroes in the future if they’re humiliated here? The stain would remain on their name forever.
They couldn’t allow that.
"Are you leaving now?" Diane asked and Alice nodded.
"Yeah, you guys can come watch if you like." She said, brushing the back of her neck and then she looked at the guys still standing there. "Ah, you’re still there? Do you need anything?"
"Alice, they’re just a bunch of trouble makers so don’t mind them." Steph said, waving her hands frantically to dismiss her interest in them.
"Hm?" Alice looked rather skeptical and they all nodded. "But I seem to remember something they said while I was asleep. What was it again? Something about being..."
"You weakling!" Their leader yelled out and Diane palmed her face. If he died, he had himself to blame. "Stop hiding behind those in power and face me."
Alice paused and then looked at him with a dead gaze.
"What did you just call me?"
The entire place went cold and eerie in an instant and all eyes, including those of those conducting the test and the students who weren’t even close to the commotion.
They felt that instant cold energy and wondered what was going on.
Alice turned her head to Clarissa, who was releasing that come energy and sighed.
"Why are you angry? I’m the one they called a weakling." Alice said but Clarissa would not relent.
"You’re someone I respect and look up to, Alice. You’re a force I can’t reach no matter how hard I try but I still try because that’s the hope you give me. So, if someone calls you a weakling, what do you think that makes me? Isn’t it the same as them calling me the weakest of them all?" Clarissa asked and Alice thought about it.
"Ah, I see. That makes sense." She said. "But you don’t have to be agitated. Calm down first."
Clarissa let out a cold breath and the cold began to disappear.
Alice turned to the guys.
"I don’t usually use words but since we’re in a position where I can’t just swing my fist and ruin private property, I guess this will do for now. But..." she glared at them. "You better give me a satisfying answer."
They gulped. What was this oppressing presence all of a sudden? They were sure she had little mana judging by her mana so why were they feeling like nats underneath her feet?
"So, on what basis are you accusing me of being a weakling?" Alice asked.
"You... You... You’re..."
But then, Alice’s stomach grumbled loudly and she rubbed her belly.
"Ah, I don’t have time for this." She said. "I’m hungry. Leo, let’s go."
"Sure." Leo answered and they turned to start leaving.
"H-hey, where do you t-think y-you’re going?"
The morons still wouldn’t stop and so Alice decided to teach them a lesson.
"Word of advice, dumbass," she said and suddenly disappeared from their line of sight, startling them. "Don’t try to judge your opponent by what you feel alone." She said from behind them and then knocked them out with her fist on their necks.
It was a bit enough to knock them unconscious but they would be lucky if she didn’t break their spines a bit.
"Did you kill em?" Diane asked as she walked back to where she was leading and she shook her head.
"Fortune smiles upon morons sometimes." Clarissa quoted and they laughed as they headed out, leaving everyone baffled and stunned.
Just... What had they witnessed?
In the blink of an eye, Alice had left her position and appeared behind them without their notice. She moved so fast. How did she do it?
"Quick, someone. We need to scout such a talent."
The instructors hurried out but by the time they got outside, Alice and her friends had already left, leaving no trace of their destination.
But her stunt left everyone in a frenzy, wondering who she was and how she could be so powerful.
