Chapter 415: You wanna hit him once?
CHAPTER 415: YOU WANNA HIT HIM ONCE?
Unlike everyone else, Alice was getting her permanent license and she was getting it from the head of the agency himself. Noah.
"Ahem, it is with great pleasure that I present this..."
"Knock it off and give it to me already. This isn’t an award ceremony." Alice yelled at him and Noah cleared his throat once more, clearing out the awkwardness after her interruption.
He was excited for some reason but Alice just had to go and ruin his excitement.
"Tut," he exclaimed and stretched it towards her. She swiped it off his hand.
All the while, Diane had her eyes on Noah, anger and hatred leaking from her eyes but she was doing her best to contain her murderous intent.
She hated him and Noah, knowing who Diane was, decided to go wait at a corner and not get involved in a fight with her.
Her hatred was as reasonable as Alice’s when she discovered he was the leader of the agency. The only difference was that she did not have the guts to hit him like Alice did.
Alice looked at the license. It looked like a regular ID card though. So, what was with all this fuss? But it was gold.
"Wow, you became a top awakened." Lance said, peering at the card in envy. "I mean, you deserve it so I have no complaint. I’m aiming for that. I’ll definitely get a gold license someday." He added and she turned to him.
"Is that why it’s gold?" She asked, moving the card, and its golden reflection shined bright in her eyes. He nodded.
"Yeah. There are usually four kinds of Awakened license. There are Gold, platinum, silver, and bronze. Of course, they all have to do with classes." Lance explained and she nodded.
"I see." Alice said and tucked it away. "By the way, when did you become so friendly?" She asked and he paused, darting his eyes away.
All this time, she was asking him this now? They literally went to the beach together just yesterday.
"Well," he scratched the back of his neck. "It just sorta happened."
Alice raised an eyebrow. She couldn’t recall. Was it when the sports event came that she started seeing him hanging around her?
Well, it didn’t matter as long as he wasn’t trying to pick a fight with her to see who was stronger.
"Well, I guess my business here is over, right?" She asked and then yawned. "I need to go sleep."
"Already?"
Alice looked at them, wondering what was wrong all of a sudden. They looked like they were a bunch of lost puppies.
"Can’t you spend a little time with us?" Maki asked.
"I mean, we’re only getting to know each other properly so let’s spend a lot more time together. Right, Clarissa?"
Clarissa turned her head away like it was not her business, but her ear flushed, and then she nodded.
"You see. It’s too early to leave now." Steph said, and Alice turned to Diane, whose eyes were still on Noah. She had this dreadful gaze and Alice could understand.
"You wanna hit him once?" Alice suddenly asked her, which was off-topic from what they were discussing, and Diane’s eyebrows furrowed a little more.
"I wish I could." She clenched her fists, the gloves in her hands squeezing tightly.
"Then just go for it." Alice said to her and Diane scoffed.
"As if. Don’t forget, I’m not as strong as you and..." She released her fists. "You’ve probably already done that for us, am I right?" She smirked and Alice nodded.
"Yeah, though I wish I could’ve given him a proper beating for mismanagement but I guess I had to be content with just hitting his face."
"It’s enough, I guess."
They all wondered what they were talking about. It wasn’t a topic they could understand from just listening to a few words since they were being vague but they did hear about hitting someone.
Was it...? They looked towards Noah at the side. It wasn’t, right?
Clarissa, who had been there when the deed had been done, darted her eyes away awkwardly.
"Damian," Alice called and Damian flinched. "Is something wrong?"
"What... What do you mean?"
"You’ve been awfully quiet." She stated but he shook his head and said,
"It’s nothing. I just don’t have anything to talk about, that’s all." He said, but he had that embarrassed plus awkward expression on his face as if he had seen something he shouldn’t have, and it was making him avoid eye contact with her.
What was it?
"Alright then." Alice said, deciding not to pursue the matter further. "Hm, someone is missing though."
Everyone started looking around. Who was missing?
"Where’s Nicholas?"
"R-right here." Nicholas said with a small voice and they all looked back to find him sketching on his sketchbook. He still had that zombie-like expression on his face. An awkward zombie? Well, maybe.
"Whoa, did you draw that just now?" Steph asked as she snuck a peek at what he was drawing. "It’s no wonder you were silent the whole time."
"You drew something?" Alice asked, her face lighting up in excitement. "Let me see."
She liked his drawings. Maybe it was because they were so life-like and breathed so much light.
Nicholas was shy, but he decided to show Alice since she was so fervent about his drawings.
She saw it and her eyes twinkled.
"I look so cool here, don’t I?" She asked, tittering excitedly as she showed the others.
It was a drawing of her leaning her back on the wall, her hands folded and her head down. And at the other end were the morons who were trying to pick a fight cowering at her mere presence.
Okay, so maybe the details of what happened were slightly off but it still looked cool.
"I... I was d-drawing when a-all that w-was going on." He stuttered and she smiled.
"It’s really nice. I like it." Alice said and he blushed. He was glad she liked it.
The others also admired the drawing, causing Nicholas to feel even more embarrassed and his face started steaming as they rained compliments on him while looking through the other drawings.
It was mostly filled with Alice, but how could they complain when he captured her brilliance perfectly?
"I’m in a good mood after seeing this." Alice said, stretching her arms. "So, I’ll listen to you guys. Let’s go out and have some fun."
"Yay!" They were excited but then Noah called,
"Miss Alice, are you leaving now?" He asked and she turned to him.
"Yeah. Do you need anything?"
"No, not me. The chairman said someone was coming to pick you up since outside was a bit... Buzzing." He said and she raised her eyebrow.
What did he mean by that?
She finally got to understand what he meant when they went outside.
