The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat!
Chapter 432: And you think it’s alright telling me about your skill?
CHAPTER 432: AND YOU THINK IT’S ALRIGHT TELLING ME ABOUT YOUR SKILL?
"I thought I saw a familiar silhouette," they heard a familiar voice, and turned their heads.
It was Noah, standing in mid-air and smiling proudly.
"It’s such an honor to meet the famous Alice Reinhart," he said and Alice rolled her eyes away.
The sight of him still made her feel sore in her mouth.
"Aw, don’t be like that." Noah said and began to walk down like there were invisible stairs till his feet touched the top of the roof. "It hurts me every time you do that."
"Good. I wish it hurts you more." She said, coldly, and he snickered. "What are you doing here anyway? Aren’t you supposed to be busy?"
"I don’t think I’m as busy as you, oh hero of the world." He said and chuckled but she kept her serious gaze on him.
She didn’t like his jokes, even if he was handsome.
Seeing she was serious, he cleared his throat and began.
"The agency got report of an awakened attacking someone so I was going to send someone to take care of it but then I realized, from the video I watched, there weren’t a lot of Awakeneds with small frames that could tackles a full grown man and even fly at the speed of light to the point where there’s nothing but faint light." He walked towards her and then stared at the body on the ground.
"Sure, cause you know ’every’ awakened." Alice rolled her eyes as she sarcastically remarked.
"Well, I do, actually." He said, tucking his hands in his pocket. "After someone opened my eyes to what’s been happening in the country I’m presiding over, I decided to create a system."
"Something similar to the rules of being a criminal if you don’t officially register as an awakened after an awakening?" Alice asked.
"Well, something similar." He said, over a light chuckle. "But I don’t need them to register for me to know them. I developed a skill through this system." He glanced over his shoulder at her. "Clairvoyance."
Clairvoyance was a skill that helped Noah see through anything and anyone. It could also see their identity, and if he developed the skill a bit more, he would be able to see what they’ve been up to for the past 24 hours.
It was such a cheat skill but what can anyone say? He was a genius?
"And you think it’s alright telling me about your skill?" She asked him and he laughed.
"It doesn’t matter." He said. "It’s not like anyone can evade my clairvoyance just from knowing about it. I’ll just take a quick look at them and bam, I know who they are."
"Then, doesn’t that mean you need to at least know that the other person exists?" Alice asked and he nodded.
"Yes, that’s why I gave myself an assignment, and for a week, I took a look at all the citizens in the country. The government helped me out a lot there. The only issue I have is with those immigrants who aren’t yet registered." He shrugged his shoulders. "But that will fix itself soon. No one can escape my clairvoyance, haha."
Alice listened to this and then darted her eyes towards Leo.
’And why does such a skill exist, Mr. God?’ she asked him, and he cleared his throat.
*Ahem. It should be a skill from my sister’s powers.* He said. *Libra.*
’Wow, it’s so handy.’ she rolled her eyes.
*Well, at least he’s not the enemy.*
Noah did not know what Alice had gone silent but seeing how she faced Leo, he assumed this was her communicating with him through her mind like he was told.
"Aw, that’s no fair. Include me in the conversation too." He said, going closer but she pushed his face away.
"Forget that." She said. "Did you come to ’arrest’ me then?"
"Ho ho, how could I arrest the hero of the world for getting rid of such a troublesome individual?" He said and turned to the body. "It was someone who had taken demon blood, right? I could tell from the veins."
"He wanted to cause trouble, I think." Alice said. She didn’t exactly have evidence after all.
But who would ask her for that when the fact that he was going to a place he had been ridiculed with such power was already a testament.
"Anyway, I have things going on." Alice said. "I need to get going."
"Oh, are you talking about the golem attack in East Carolina?" Noah asked as he watched her feet slowly leave the ground.
"Yeah,"
"I guess the hero is busy as always." He said but then caught her hand.
She looked down at him, wondering what he wanted but he did not say anything and looked at her with a rather melancholic expression.
"Can you please set aside your grudge?" He asked her but she did not respond.
He could not shamelessly ask her to forget her grief because all those were scars that had left their mark on her heart.
The feeling of being betrayed by those who were supposed to protect them must’ve cut so deep that even now, she still looked at him like the cause of her suffering for those many years.
His inadequate governance was to blame, honestly.
"It truly hurts." He said. "But I bet it doesn’t hurt as much as yours. Still, I ask that you give me a chance to redeem myself."
Alice sighed and then slowly lowered herself till her feet touched the ground again.
"I don’t need you to redeem yourself to me." She said to him. "But I’ll be thankful if you check the entries nation and actually save the kids who are still in such situations."
"I’m doing that. I don’t need you to tell me, Alice." He said. "I’m trying so hard."
"Then that’s all I can say." She said. "If you can knock out those bastards that take human life for granted in my place, I’ll truly appreciate it." She smiled and his eyes widened.
She actually smiled at him. For once.
"Now, I really gotta get going." She said. "Oh, and take care of that body for me. Thanks. Let’s go, Leo." Leo nodded and followed after her.
Noah watched them dash away and then looked at his hand that had held hers. It felt warm.
"I’m glad." He muttered. "All my hard work is paying off."
But... Why didn’t it work on her?
For someone with a skill such as clairvoyance, it would be impossible not to feel curious about the kind of power Alice wielded.
He was so curious and planned to take a little peek, but his skill was denied, as if there was a wall stopping him from looking into her.
"Ah, Alice," he swiped his hand through his hair. "You’re such a mystery."
