CHAPTER 48: CLASH WITHIN THE DOME

Anna looked at him with a deep frown on her face.

"Who would have thought that Anieal Starborne, the youngest daughter of Starbornes, is a Midnighter?" the gloomy guy said as he spread his arms wide.

"Well... in a way it’s not that surprising," the gloomy guy said as he nodded to himself.

He then looked at Anna as he licked his lower lip.

"I wonder what your blood will taste like," he said, his smile widening with each step he took.

Anna moved one step back with each step he took

"W-what are you doing?" she questioned with a stutter as the dreadful aura of his presence made her thoughts slow.

The gloomy guy, however, didn’t answer and just continued to walk towards her.

Anna moved back, but her back soon touched a tree, blocking her escape.

Seeing that, the gloomy guy began to laugh in his creepy voice.

"Kukukuku!"

Anna looked at him with a pale face. A few moments later, she took a few deep breaths and took out her daggers, which were placed in the hidden sheaths in her outfit.

Seeing her taking out a weapon, the gloomy guy stopped in his tracks and looked at Anna with a raised eyebrow.

"Hoh? Daggers? You think those toys of yours can stop me?" He questioned, his smile turned almost demonic.

Anna, however, didn’t answer and just looked at the gloomy guy in front of her with vigilant eyes.

’I can do it.’ Anna resolved herself and dashed towards the gloomy guy.

Anna reached near him within moments and moved her daggers, seemingly trying to take care of him in a single blow, but to her surprise, the gloomy guy didn’t move.

*Thuk*

A sound of metal hitting metal rang out within the silence of the night. Anna looked at the place her dagger had attacked, and then she saw a shiny silver armour which was covering his body. Anna, sensing danger, tried to move back, and the gloomy guy sensed it as he swung his arm and claws of steel came out of his knuckles.

’Wolverine?’ Anna thought as she looked at those claws.

Anna dodged by ducking down; the gloomy guy followed with a low, upward swing of his left arm. Anna rolled on her back into a handstand and gracefully landed on her feet. The gloomy guy’s grin faded for the first time as he launched towards her with a wide swing.

Anna, predicting that launched forward, her eyes glowed with determination. She swung her dagger in an upward swing, seemingly trying to stab his chin with her dagger.

The gloomy guy, however, just smiled at that as his eyes glowed silver.

[living metal]

A flowing silver metal moved under his head and solidified, his grin widening, but it faltered when he looked at Anna, who was grinning widely at him.

Anna threw away her dagger behind his head and jumped back, dodging the wide swing. Her eyes began to glow golden

[Thread weaving]

Threads began to materialise around her hands and shot towards the blades of the dagger, which were high up in the air; a few of them began to wrap around his body. His movements stiffened. The threads pulled at the blades of the dagger with great force as the daggers began to fly towards the back of his head.

Seeing all that happening the gloomy guy moved with hurried attack but her threads made it harder for him, his attacks became slow and easy to dodge, Anna moved fluidly like a snake and reached behind him, she then grabbed the daggers which were coming towards his head and plunged them forward with all of her might and stabbed through his head as the blades came out of his eye sockets.

He let out a short scream, and the gloomy guy’s body trembled for a few seconds before it stopped.

"Augh-"

Anna took out her daggers from his head and began to breathe heavily as she fell on her butt.

"Hah..hah... That was intense." Anna said as she looked at his body.

*Crack**Crack**Crack**Crack**Crack*

Soon, the sounds of cracks filled the whole place, and the dome above began to crumble with the battleglass which had produced it.

In front of her eyes, the body of the gloomy guy began to turn into dust and flew away with the gusts of wind.

"Miss Anieal!" White yelled and ran towards her with a worried look on his face.

Anna looked at White with a wide grin and waved her hand.

"I am fine!" Anna replied with a yell of her own.

White then heaved a heavy sigh and began to walk towards her with hurried steps.

"Have you called my brother?" Anna asked as she stood up and dusted herself.

"I didn’t," White replied as he lowered his head.

Intrigued by his action, Anna raised an eyebrow as she questioned with a smug look.

"Why is that? You wanted me to die by his hands?"

White looked at the clothes which lay on the ground and shook his head.

"He was weak," White said as he continued to look at the clothes.

"Hmm?" His answer piqued her interest as she questioned.

"You do know each Midnighter has a unique star trait, right?"

"I do." White looked at Anna and replied with a nod.

"Then why do you underestimate him?"

"I just think that you are much stronger and better than him," White replied with an earnest look in his eyes.

Hearing that, imaginary smoke began to come out of Anna’s head as her cheeks turned crimson.

"I-Is that so..." Anna replied with a stutter as she hadn’t White to say that, she turned her head away and began to walk towards the exit.

"Hmm? Of course, I am sure of it." White said in a matter-of-fact tone and began to walk behind her.

Hearing him approach, Anna began to walk faster and White... He did the same and began to walk faster.

"Is something wrong, Miss Anieal?" He questioned with a tone full of worry.

"I-I am fine," Anna replied with a stutter

"Then why are you walking so fast?" White asked in wonder as he tilted his head.

"I j-just felt like it."

"I see..."

Both then turned silent and left the park.
