Chapter 54: Jester meets Demon
CHAPTER 54: JESTER MEETS DEMON
Damien’s phone rang once again.
*ring* *ring*
Damien heaved a tired sigh as he took out his phone and looked at the caller with a raised eyebrow.
He picked up the call and answered in a puzzled tone..
"White?"
"Young Master." White’s voice greeted him from the other side.
"What is it, White?" Damien questioned without waiting.
"It’s about the college class party," White spoke slowly, his tone heavy.
But Damien was too tired to notice that.
"I already know about it, White," Damien said with furrowed eyebrows. After all, it wasn’t White’s job to report such events to him; he already knew about the party. He just didn’t want to let Anna know about it.
"That’s not the issue, young master." White, however, didn’t react as he continued.
"What do you mean?" White’s words piqued his interest as he spoke.
"It’s too strange, the party is on the same day and time you would have your meeting with Edwin Turner at, and there have been many people who have been following and keeping an eye on me for the last few days." White, finally, having the interest of Damien, spoke with a heavy tone.
"Is that so?" Damien questioned.
’That’s what I thought too, but I didn’t have any base for it, but if what White is saying is correct, the meeting tomorrow and the party both could be a trap.’
"I might be being paranoid here... but I just don’t feel like this is a coincidence at all." White, however, didn’t know about his thoughts and continued.
"If that is what you think, then I’ll send One to the party. Make sure nothing happens to Anna." Damien finally decided as he spoke with an authoritative tone.
"As you say, Young master," white replied as he hung up the call.
Damien stared at the phone in his hand for a few moments before collapsing in his chair.
"I’ll make sure to find out why they are behind Anna," Damien mumbled to himself as he closed his eyes.
The busy streets of Necron City were illuminated by the light of the bold sun. Tall buildings, colourful stores, elegantly designed cafes and other establishments lined the streetside, the noise of vehicles, steps and chatter filled the place.
Within all that crowd, a man with face paint was walking. The strange thing, however, wasn’t his face paint but that no one noticed him at all; it was like he wasn’t even there.
Eliot, who was walking through the streets of Necron City, turned towards an alley and walked inside. He walked for a dozen steps and then stopped as he called out.
"You should reveal yourself now," Eliot said, his tone annoyed.
A few moments passed, and nothing happened.
’He has been following me since the time I left the Starborne Emporium.’ Eliot thought as he tried to guess who it could be, and he had a slight guess about that.
"Ah... Come on. I know you are following me, demon." Eliot said as he turned around, and there he saw a one-horned masked figure, seemingly male with grey eyes, his body covered in black and a hood draped over his head. Harmes seemingly appeared out of nowhere without any noise like wind.
"It is a pleasure to meet The Jester and the head of the wandering nova team, Eliot Rankin," Harmes said, his voice calm.
"Yours truly," Eliot replied with a small smile.
"I wonder, what are you doing here in Azure?" Harmes questioned, his tone playful.
"Hah..." Eliot sighed as he continued with a voice laced with anger and annoyance.
"Harmes... you are no longer part of The Star Council. So, drop the act."
"Oops! Did I get caught?" Harems said as he raised his hands.
"Who other than the Gale Blade can appear behind me without getting decapitated?" Eliot said as he shook his head at Harmes’s act.
"Haha! It’s the Gale Demon now." Harmes corrected with a chuckle as he moved his hand like trying to say ’you jest.’
"Get to the point, or do you wish to battle me, Harmes?" Eliot questioned as he narrowed his eyes.
Harmes looked at Eliot for a few good seconds and shook his head.
"No... I am not here to battle you."
"I know that much already. Get to the point," Eliot said with an annoyed tone.
"I am here to warn you. Leave Necron." Harmes said as he turned around and left, his steps were quick but measured.
Eliot looked at him for a few moments.
"A warning, huh... I wonder." Eliot mumbled as his gaze moved towards the building of Starborne Emporium.
"I wish you were worthy enough to awaken the sleeping beast that is the Purple Regent." Eliot continued, his voice low. He then shook his head and left the alley, his steps light as a grin appeared on his face.
"Do your worst, Harmes."
Harmes stood at the top of an abandoned two-storey store with an indifferent look as he gazed at the departing figure of Eliot.
"Was that wise?"
Harmes turned around and looked at Zelron with a shake of his head as he spoke.
"Only time will tell."
Hearing that, Zelron nodded and turned silent.
"Let’s go. We have to prepare." Harmes said as he once again disappeared without making any sound.
Seeing that, Zelron shook his head as he mumbled to himself in a low voice, not wanting Harmes to hear him if he was still here.
"I can’t move like you, you know?"
"I can still hear you, Zelron," Harmes spoke in a cold voice.
Zelron shook his head and turned around.
"Hah..."
Zelron just heaved a sigh and walked towards the stairs. He exited the building and approached a wall deep within the alley. He cut his hand, and blood began to seep out of it. He touched the wall, and a crimson glow began to emanate from the wall. And the wall parted, giving way to a dimly illuminated pathway.
Zelron stepped inside, and the wall mended itself.
