The Fatebound Monarch
Chapter 61: Unravelling the Demon
CHAPTER 61: UNRAVELLING THE DEMON
At Damien’s words, Edwin turned silent and took a few steps back. Fear flashed in his eyes from the coldness of Damien’s tone.
"W-What do you mean?" but he still managed to speak the words which were caught in his throat.
Damien turned his head towards him and said.
"Stop the games, Edwin. I am a busy man." Damien stood up from his chair and looked at Edwin before turning his head towards the corner of the room.
Within the dark corner of the Gilded Ecstasy, something stirred, and a pair of grey eyes which were glowing with a red glint came into view. Harmes walked forward with a smile on his face as he called out.
"Damien Starborne."
Harmes stopped and looked at Damien with interest as he rubbed his chin with his hand and questioned.
"I wonder... What makes The Crimson Moon so interested in a lowborn?"
Harmes waved his arms and continued.
"Please don’t be offended, I am just a curious person. After all, we sent dozens of Seekers after you, but none of them returned. It nearly made me believe that you are a Midnighter yourself."
As soon as he said so, he disappeared and reappeared in front of Damien, ready to land a punch at a speed which no mortal can perceive. Damien, however, simply tilted his head and looked in his eyes.
Harmes, seeing that, retreated away from Damien, and a frown involuntarily appeared on his face.
"Edwin, I am pleased that you found these snooping pests for me," Damien said as he continued to stare at Harmes.
Edwin, who had a smug look on his face because of Hames frowned.
"I could have let you go for your transgression, if only..." Damien continued.
Damien turned towards Edwin as his eyes were ablaze with fury, and a near intangible killing intent started to pour out from him.
"If only you hadn’t dared to look at Anieal with those filthy intentions of yours."
"Heh. You are still acting all high and mighty." Edwin, however, brushed away his words as the banter of a dead man. A small grin formed on his face.
Harmes didn’t say anything and just stared at Damien without moving, and then he remembered the words of Eliot.
’Do your worst, Harmes.’
Harmes had already started to think of Damien as someone as strong as himself.
"I must admit you had me fooled, Damien Starborne." Harmes praised as a small smile appeared on his face.
"But I am nothing if not cautious," Harmes said as he opened his arms wide and his smile turned into a wide grin.
"It’s just the start, Damien Starborne. Make sure to entertain me."
Right then, multiple hooded figures entered the room and looked at Damien with clear animosity.
Damien looked at all of the hooded figures with a solemn look on his face.
Just then, a hooded figure walked forward and stood beside Harmes.
"This is quite the twist, don’t you think, Lord Harmes?" Zelron said as he removed his hood, he had spiky short brown hair and his muscles were filled with raw power, he exuded an aura of a wild beast.
"It is, Zelron," Harmes replied with a nod and turned towards him as he presented.
"Would you like to have a go first?"
Zelron didn’t reply and just started walking towards Damien as his eyes glowed with a red glint.
[Bestification]
His body started to ripple as the sound of turning, twisting, and breaking bones filled the room. Soon, Zelron’s whole body turned into a half bear and half man. A loud growl left his maw as he dashed toward Damien.
Damien just stood there as a purple flame covered his forearm and punched towards Zelron, the flame left his arm like a dragon’s breath and nearly hit Zelron. Zelron had already jumped aside when his instincts flashed him with warnings. His back was drenched in cold sweat as he looked at Damien with a hint of fear.
"Tch." Damien, seeing that Zelron had come unscathed, clicked his tongue and looked at Harmes as he asked.
’What was that purple flame? Does he have power related to flames?’ Harmes, who was musing over his thoughts, came out of his reverie when Damien called out to him.
"Harmes, The Gale Blade. Right?" Damien questioned as he pointed at Harmes.
Harmes didn’t answer as he was too shocked to even care about such.
’What? How does he know my name?’
"Looks like I am right." Damien nodded as he started to walk towards him with slow steps.
"You were taken in by the Gale Regent and trained as his successor. However, you were too incompetent to do that." Damien continued, his tone had no mockery or sarcasm, it was like he just stated things as they are. A simple fact.
"I am truly surprised that you chose the path of a demon. Harmes."
Damien stood one step away from Harmes as he said so. The strange thing, however, was that no one intervened. More like they couldn’t after all... Damien had locked all of them at their place.
Damien placed his hand on Harmes’s shoulder as he said.
"I have many questions I need answers to. So, don’t disappoint me."
Damien took out a battleglass from his pocket and dropped it on the floor.
*Tss* Tss*
A few moments passed as they both now stood within the dome made by the battleglass.
Harmes had a grave expression on his face as he asked.
"Who are you?"
Damien smiled at his words, and his eyes started to glow purple as his body started to transform.
Harmes’s body turned pale as he looked at Damien, who had activated his disguise as The Maestro of Space, Mars Kinten.
"M-Mars K-Kinten?" Harmes spoke with a terrified expression on his face.
"H-How is this possible?!" Harmes bawled at Damien, his eyes glinting with fear.
Damien didn’t say anything and continued to stare at him. A few moments passed, and Damien spoke.
"It’s time you start answering my questions, Harmes."
"Why does The Crimson Moon want Anieal?"
Harmes was pulled out of his reverie by Damien’s question.
Harmes looked at Damien as his lips curled up into a grin, his eyes glowed with a red glint as he disappeared once again and moved to attack Damien.
[Gale body]
Damien simply waved his hand
[Spatial Barriers]
and formed a barrier made out of itself around himself, Harmes landed blow after blow at the barrier many times, but it did nothing more than rippling the barrier. However, he didn’t stop.
Damien, seeing that, smiled as he removed the barrier and grabbed Hermes’s hand just as he was about to punch the barrier. Purple flames erupted in his free hand as a sword appeared in it, Damien slashed his arm, cutting him from the very root in a single, clean slash.
"Aarruuuggghhh!!" Harmes screamed in agony as he fell on his knees.
Damien walked forward and lifted him by his hair.
"Why does The Crimson Moon want Anieal?" Damien asked once again, barely controlling his anger.
Harmes didn’t speak for a few moments, and Damien slapped him.
"Augh!" A groan left his lips as he looked at Damien, and suddenly his lips turned into a wide grin.
Damien raised his eyebrow in confusion as he felt something warm in his throat and just then-
"Ghk?!"
-Damien suddenly coughed out blood.
Damien touched his lips and looked at his blood-covered fingers. Harmes, who finally obtained an opportunity, kicked Damien in the abdomen and got ready to continue the fight as he laughed loudly in triumph.
"HAHAHAHA!"
