CHAPTER 62: NOT A PARTY

Anna and Hanna sat on the sofa within the empty guest room of Malbourn hotel, as they had their eyes fixed on the door while they waited for White.

Time passed as both of them cleared whatever thoughts they had in their mind, making the room fall into silence.

A few moments later, a knock echoed in the silent room.

*Knock* Knock*

Hanna hurriedly stood up to open the door, but Anna stopped her as she called out.

"Wait."

Hanna, who was about to open the door, stopped. Puzzled by Anna’s actions, she turned towards her and questioned.

"But... he’s here, isn’t he?"

Hanna didn’t understand why Anna stopped her. After all, they had been waiting for White, and when there was finally a knock at the door, she stopped her from opening the door.

Anna didn’t answer and simply watched the door in silence with complicated thoughts running through her mind.

’Is it White? What if it is someone from them?’

’White would have called out my name... But we can’t just keep the door closed, either.’

Anna thought about it for a few more moments before she looked at Hanna and nodded. Hanna, still puzzled, walked towards the door and opened it.

"Hanna?" a gentle and confused voice called out to Hanna who had opened the door, Hanna gave a small smile when her eyes fell on her teacher who had called out to her, she had long black hair tied in a bun and her sparkling green eyes held warmth of very sun itself, she had worn a white shirt which was tucked under her black fit skirt. She had a friendly and lovable aura, which made others drop their guard around her.

"Professor Helda," Hanna called out to her with a bright smile.

Anna looked at her with suspicion as she recalled her name.

Melanira Helda. She is the one who organised this party...’

’Why is she here?’

Melanira walked inside with a smile on her face and looked around.

"What took you so long? You weren’t doing something bad, were you?" Melanira said with a playful tone as she looked at Hanna.

Hanna shook her head in embarrassment as she spoke.

"No, Professor Helda, we were just too deep in the chat," Hanna replied as she turned and looked at Anna, who had a smile on her face.

Melanira turned towards Anna as she called out.

"Student Anieal, is there something wrong?" Melanira asked with a worried tone.

Anna turned towards her with a practised smile and replied with a shake of her head.

"Nothing’s wrong, Professor. I am just feeling a bit unwell."

As they were talking, a knock was heard once again.

"Miss Anieal?" White stood at the door as he called out.

Hearing his voice, Melanira raised an eyebrow as she turned towards Anna, ready to question her about the person.

Anna, however, didn’t even look at her and dashed towards the door and opened it.

"White..." Anna called out, her tone was soft and relaxed. Her hopes were rekindled after she saw White.

Anna gestured to him to enter, and White complied.

White walked inside with furrowed brows as he looked at Hanna and Melanira standing there.

Anna, who was about to close the door, stopped and looked at Melanira as she spoke.

"I’ll explain everything later, Professor Helda," Anna said with a serious tone as she gestured towards the exit.

Melanira looked at her with a raised eyebrow and raised her arms as she walked outside.

"Very well, Student Anieal." Melanira agreed and gave one last look to White before she left the room.

Anna heaved a deep sigh as she closed the door.

Seeing that both White and Hanna raised an eyebrow.

"White... there’s something wrong about this party," Anna revealed.

Hearing that, White nodded, but he didn’t react much... But what she said next made him widen his eyes.

"And... I was able to see... what I think is the future... or a possible future."

"What?!" White exclaimed, his voice a little louder than usual.

Anna nodded to him, and White just stared at her.

White didn’t know what to say about this; her trait was ridiculous from the beginning, and now it was near absurd.

"How is that even possible?" he questioned.

"That doesn’t matter, White. What I saw does." Anna said in a serious tone as she took a deep breath and continued.

"I saw a massacre, everyone except me was killed or... at least that’s how it was supposed to be."

White turned towards Hanna as he spoke.

"It couldn’t be..."

"Yes, Hanna is a Midnighter too," Anna confirmed his thoughts, and Hanna just smiled wryly at him as she thought.

’So many scars...’

’Is he also a Midnighter?’

Anna, who had guessed her thoughts, answered with a shake of her head.

"White is not a Midnighter."

Hanna turned towards Anna with a tilted head. It was clear that she was confused after all, how much a normal human can even do against Midnighters?

"However, he is still stronger than both of us," Anna revealed, and Hanna widened her eyes in shock and turned towards White as she muttered.

"Monster..."

White heard her and just smiled wryly as he turned towards Anna and said.

"What should we do, Miss Anieal?"

Anna looked at him as she started to explain everything that she saw within her mind plane.

Moments passed in silence, and Anna stood with her head low as she thought of ways to stop the upcoming massacre. However, she was stumped. After all, she never thought that she would have to deal with something like this.

She could try and read the golden threads of fate for it, but... she can’t possibly allow herself to lose her emotions and turn untouched to whatever happens.

Moments passed and stretched into seconds, and seconds stretched into minutes.

Finally, Hanna looked up at Anna and asked in a puzzled tone.

"Why don’t we just talk to Professor Helda about it?"
