The Fatebound Monarch
Chapter 91: Cracks
CHAPTER 91: CRACKS
The island turned silent as the corpse of the malamare sank into the sea, becoming food for other monstrosities hidden in the depths of the sea of Aquadra.
Yabin Noctvelle looked at the unconscious Michael with a calm gaze. She walked towards him, and her golden eyes glowed black as black flame appeared on her palm. The black flames took the shape of a small, round bowl made and soon a pure white jade bowl appeared on her palm.
It was filled with a blue liquid which had a hint of starlight in it. The fingers of her free hand ablazed with dark flames as she moved them around Michael in a complicated manner.
The blue starlight liquid began to flow out of the bowl. It landed on the ground and began to move like a worm. Soon, it painted runic characters around him.
Yabin waved her hand, and her forehead began to bleed golden as a third eye appeared on her forehead, unlike her golden eyes, it was black and had silver strings floating around.
It was like a dark, black sea filled with the threads of starlight silver. It was both eerie and divine.
It was the artefact of the saintess of the Night Tower - The Lord’s eye.
Her body began to sweat under the effect of the artefact, and the runes ignited with a silver glow. Michael’s dull eyes started to turn brighter as his broken soul was repaired by the runes.
Right at that moment, a female voice called out to her from behind.
"Saintess."
Turning back, she looked at the woman kneeling in front of her. The woman wore a black light armour, which appeared to be that of an assassin, as it allowed her to move freely; it had pauldrons carved out of solid black metal. She had black hair which touched her shoulders.
She was Lavina Heart — The Black Raven, an Adept rank awakened. The mayor of Moonveil City.
"Lavina."
Yabin called out to her in a slightly cold tone.
Lavina shivered under her voice as she looked at Yabin with her silver eyes and spoke guiltily.
"I apologise, Saintess."
"Oh? Why would you do that?" Yabin questioned in an amused tone.
Lavina lowered her head and answered in a low but audible voice.
"I should have kept track of star beasts such as the malamare."
Yabin nodded at her answer and smiled as she spoke.
"Indeed, you should have, but the result is not that bad either."
Lavina frowned at Yabin’s words and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Yabin, however, ignored her confusion and commanded.
"Lavina... go and tell the continent of night about the deeds of our revered guests."
Lavina’s frown deepened, but she didn’t voice out her unknown thoughts and just nodded before she transformed into a raven of black lightning and flew away.
Yabin looked at Michael, who appeared much healthier than before and turned towards the runic formation, which produced the barrier against mind attacks and began fixing it.
’I believe this should tell her to think before stepping into trouble.’
’Not like she can run away from it...’
After fixing the runic formation, she looked at her palm and mumbled.
"Fate... heh."
Yabin chuckled as she stepped inside the forest and walked towards Anna, who sat unconscious under the tree.
She bent down and slowly picked her up in her arms, and looked at her with an obsessive expression, which she hid right after as she began walking out of the forest.
Moments later, she reached the natural corridor, which Anna and others had used to trap the hexed beings.
Her eyes fell on the other guardians of the Night Tower who stood there holding Neo and Hanna in their arms.
They turned towards Yabin and greeted her with a small bow. Yabin replied to them with a nod and walked towards the unconscious islanders and merkins, who had already been killed by the members of Night Tower.
One of the guardians bent down and squatted beside a headless merkin and questioned.
"What did happen here?"
The other guardians looked at the similar bodies with the same expression; they had no answers to it after all.
Yabin turned towards them and spoke.
"What happened here doesn’t matter. Get our guests to the moonveil and wake up all of the islanders," she paused for a moment and looked at Anna before continuing. "And make sure they spread the deeds of our guests... it doesn’t matter how you do that."
The guardians looked at her with a confused expression, but before they could say anything, she disappeared.
Anna lay in the bed as a black silk blanket covered her, the room she was in appeared to be quite high-class, as it had a window which allowed one to look at Moonveil City in its full glory. Its black walls had a diamond grid like emodiary with celestial engravings within each of them. There was an elegant dressing area at the far end of the room, which was being brightened by a blue crystal chandelier.
Her eyelids started to tremble as she slowly opened her eyes and looked at the unfamiliar ceiling. She didn’t move or speak for a good minute and continued to stare at the ceiling.
"What’s wrong?" Yabin questioned as she sat beside her and looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
Anna looked at Yabin with a puzzled look and questioned in a strained voice.
"Who... are you?"
Yabin blinked a few times and frowned, questioning herself that maybe Ann had forgotten her or something, but soon she realised the problem. She face-palmed herself as she chuckled.
She smiled at Anna and introduced herself similarly to the first time.
"I am The Saintess of the Night Tower. However, everyone likes to call me ’The Night Seer’."
Anna blinked a few times and asked.
"Saintess?"
Yabin nodded at her and grabbed her hand in her palms as she questioned.
"So... tell me what’s wrong?"
Anna looked at her and bit her lips as she spoke solemnly.
"My star core... it cracked."
