CHAPTER 886: MENTAL TRANSFORMATION - 886

With the priestess dead, their Universe was once again theirs to control. Nobody here could match them.

They split up, all heading their separate ways.

In just a few years, trillions of beings were expelled from the Universe, either killed or sent back where they belonged.

The beasts now had only a single clan consisting of a few million members left in the Universe.

The humans now only had a single galaxy containing nearly a trillion beings.

There was only one monster, there would only ever be one monster.

Nothing changed for the first monster. He simply grew stronger, but eventually, even that was slowing down. He needed something else.

Sustenance perhaps.

He held himself back as billions and billions of years passed.

The beast clan grew larger and larger, reaching billions of members.

The humans expanded to cover a large portion of the Universe, their numbers now measured in quintillions at the smallest.

The first beast and the first human continued to grow stronger, surpassing the first monster.

He needed something, and without it he would stay in this Loose Immortal realm forever.

Eventually, he gave in. After examining himself, he found the answer.

He needed to devour.

Ever since reaching the False Immortal realm, his growth had slowed to a near stop.

When he had devoured the priestess, it had given him the sustenance necessary to reach the Loose Immortal realm, but it could take him no further.

His need to devour didn’t come from a different path than cultivation, but from his body, perhaps something akin to a Divine Physique. Maybe a racial trait, though he was the only one of his race, and as far as he could tell, he would always be the only member.

A monster was something outside of nature, and as a result, reproducing would go against the Multiverse itself. It would be impossible for a long, long time, assuming he could ever accomplish it.

Knowing that he needed to eat, the first monster began to take humans and beasts, keeping a low profile and making sure his targets were weak enough to not be noticed.

Despite everything, he still thought of the first human and the first beast as his friends.

They had never given him a reason not to do so.

Unfortunately, the weaklings that the first monster picked off were simply not enough. He needed Immortals.

He plotted for a long time before sneakily killing a False Immortal human.

While a search was sent out for him, nobody could trace it back to the first monster.

This caused a bit of a stir within the human race.

They had been very peaceful for a long time, with nearly no internal conflict at all. They were even on great terms with the beasts. There was no reason for a False Immortal realm human to simply go missing.

The False Immortal helped the first monster for a while, but not for long.

He needed another. Either that or a Loose Immortal.

He waited and planned for nearly a hundred thousand years before taking action. But just as he landed the killing blow, an array shone and a man appeared.

It was the first human.

He instantly understood the situation.

"You..." He said while looking at the first monster. "Why?..."

The first monster looked on in shock.

"I need it." He eventually said.

The first human looked as though his heart had just broken. One of his two greatest friends had killed his own people, people he cared about greatly.

The first human closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, they were cold.

"Begone from my human realm. Take the corpse as a severance package. Don’t blame me for what happens if I see you again."

The first monster hesitated before taking the body and leaving.

Among the strongest beings in the Universe, both beast and human, information about the first monster spread. When the first beast confirmed everything, the first monster was placed on a wanted list.

From now on, it was banished from both the land of beasts and the land of humans.

The first monster sat in a cave far away from any life, looking at the corpse.

He stared blankly.

The only people he cared about now wanted to see him dead. His only friends.

Why? Over some humans?

Was it really necessary? Were they not greater friends than that? Could they not understand the infinite hunger within his stomach, a starving even the poorest human could not imagine?

He had held himself back for so long, for their sakes. He could have devoured trillions of humans and beasts, but hadn’t.

Why?

The first monster had to think about it for a while. For millions of years, he sat in the corner of his cave, the corpse slowly decaying. He was undergoing a transformation of the mind.

He finally understood it.

It was because he was a monster. It had been right in front of him all along. He couldn’t reproduce, meaning he wasn’t meant to exist with others. He was born to be alone. He was born to be hated and feared. This was what it meant to be a monster. He could finally accept that.

His emotions, which should have never existed within a monster in the first place, almost entirely vanished. The good ones disappeared entirely.

The first monster opened his mouth, still in humanoid form, and tentacles shot out, consuming the man completely.

He sat in the cave, cultivating for a trillion years, before standing up. Although the man hadn’t been enough to push him to the Earth Immortal realm, his mental transformation had allowed him to do so.

When he left the cave, he learned an important piece of information.

Just a million years ago, the human race had betrayed the first human.

A talented human rose up and defeated him. He had been hiding for trillions and trillions of years, only just recently taking action and sending the first human running.

Why? Because the first human, despite his love for his people, was seen as oppressive by others.

Hearing this, the monster felt as if the heavens were setting this opportunity up just for him.
