Chapter 555: Chapter 98 Yin Xi
Yin Xi, also known as Guan Yin, styled Wengong, titled Wenshi Taoist. Born in the Zhou Dynasty, he perused all kinds of books from an early age, studied ancient texts, mastered the Astrology Technique, understood ancient times, and saw the future.
He once served as an official, and in the twenty-third year of King Zhao of Zhou, foreseeing that chaos would soon engulf the world, he resigned his official post and requested to take up the position of border commander at Han Valley Pass.
Among the tales most widely circulated among the common folk, however, is that of Laozi riding his Green Bull out of Han Valley Pass, transforming barbarians into Buddhists, with Yin Xi respectfully greeting Laozi at the gates of Han Valley Pass.
A violet qi from the east, traversing thirty thousand miles, Laozi entered the city, left behind a copy of the Tao Te Ching, then continued westward out of the pass.
Afterward, Yin Xi abandoned the trivialities of mortal life. Following the teachings of the Tao Te Ching imparted by Laozi, he diligently practiced Taoism.
Three years later, believing he had thoroughly grasped all the subtleties of the Tao Te Ching, he wrote nine volumes of Guan Yinzi for future generations to cultivate. Following that, he, too, stepped in the footsteps of Laozi and left the pass.
In the legends of Earth from a past life, there are many stories of Laozi’s journey to the west, but they do not fit with what happened on Huaxia Land.
It turned out to be a misconception; all of these events unfolded on the Path to Heaven, including Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti Buddha Mother… Everything was related to the Path to Heaven.
Li Qingming could never have imagined that the post Yin Xi defended was not actually Han Valley Pass, but another even more critical checkpoint, Wanling Pass.
Traveling westward, opening the gates of Wanling Pass led directly to a splendid starry sky.
“It seems not only Pangu and Xiao Yao Dao Venerable, but even Laozi himself once traveled throughout this Path to Heaven on his journey to the west!” Li Qingming’s heart suddenly surged with emotions, “But, the timeline simply does not match up! A Yanji, Yanji… Could it be that there is a discrepancy in time here?”
“No, I must ask Yin Xi directly!” A hint of urgency flashed in Li Qingming’s eyes, as he now was desperate to unravel these mysteries.
“Creak!”
Just then, the tightly shut doors of the Doushuai Temple swung open from the inside out.
A Daoist with white hair and a robust stature, but with an extraordinarily ruddy complexion, stepped out from the door and said, “Fellow Daoists, having come to my abode, why not come in and sit for a while?”
Sensing that the Daoist in front of him possessed only the Cultivation at the Daluo Golden Immortal Realm, Long Xuhu blurted out almost reflexively, “Old man, who are you?”
“Shut up!” Li Qingming this time did not spare Long Xuhu any face, abruptly and harshly interrupting him.
“Uh…” Seeing Li Qingming, who had never spoken harshly to him before, acting so stern, Long Xuhu was somewhat at a loss.
Although he was already convinced in his heart, Li Qingming straightened his Daoist robe and respectfully bowed to the Daoist, asking, “May I dare to ask if the elder is the revered Yin Xi?”
The Daoist stroked his white beard and gave a respectful nod, responding, “Fellow Daoist is too kind! This old Daoist is indeed Yin Xi!”
Li Qingming’s heart trembled violently, and his voice shook slightly as he continued to inquire, “Could it be the border commander of Wanling Pass, Yin Xi?”
The elder’s entire body shook, and from his cloudy eyes suddenly flashed two captivating beams of light, his lips trembling slightly, “You, you come from Pangu’s Great Thousand World?”
At this moment, Li Qingming finally confirmed that the person in front of him was indeed Yin Xi from Earth’s legends in a past life.
Remembering those weathered years buried at Wanling Pass, remembering the endless bones and evil souls beyond the pass, remembering the Wanling Pass for which countless people fought, Li Qingming could no longer contain the excitement in his heart and “thump” he knelt in front of Yin Xi, saying: “The junior, Li Qingming, pays respects to the senior, Yin Xi!”
The others watched somewhat stupefied, not understanding why Li Qingming would do such a thing.
Yin Xi, with tears of excitement streaming down his face, helped Li Qingming up and said: “Good, good, good!”
After repeating the word ‘good’ three times, he then looked up to the sky and laughed heartily: “At last, in my lifetime, I’ve once again seen someone from Pangu’s Great Thousand World, hahaha, good!”
Li Qingming, looking at Yin Xi with his white hair and beard, infused his own Yuqing True Essence into Yin Xi without any reservation.
“Whoosh!”
In almost an instant, Yin Xi’s appearance changed; his snow-white hair and beard, over a foot long, instantly turned jet-black and glossy. His slightly shriveled body also gradually became plump and robust, making him look thirty years younger.
At this moment, Yin Xi resembled a refined middle-aged man in his forties.
Coming back to his senses, Yin Xi, feeling the changes in his body, smiled somewhat emotionlessly, took Li Qingming by the hand and walked into the Doushuai Temple, saying: “Come, join me inside to talk!”
Li Qingming nodded to the increasingly confused crowd behind him and followed Yin Xi into the Doushuai Temple.
The Doushuai Temple was very plain; apart from the meditation cushion placed in the center, there was nothing else.
Yin Xi, somewhat embarrassedly said to everyone: “My abode is humble; I hope all the young friends do not mind!”
Li Qingming, unconcerned, shook his head and flicked nine meditation cushions out of his storage space, tossing them on the ground.
“Senior, this Doushuai Temple?” After sitting down, Li Qingming pointed to the Doushuai Temple, curiously asking.
Yin Xi stroked his beard and said: “Oh! Haha, I’m not accustomed to living in the wild. I directly expended a realm worth of True Yuan to solidify stone, transforming it into this dwelling.”
Li Qingming thought to himself: “Indeed, he must have deep feelings for Laozi; otherwise, why would he have such a fondness for the Doushuai Temple?”
Yin Xi glanced at Li Qingming and the others and said: “If the old Dao has not guessed wrong, you must be disciples of Shangqing and Yuqing Saints. But what puzzles this old Dao is, how do you recognize the ancient seal outside? Otherwise, how would you know that this dwelling is called the Doushuai Temple?”
Li Qingming nodded slightly and said: “By a fortunate coincidence, I’ve come to recognize this Pre-Qin ancient seal!”
“You also know of the Pre-Qin?” Yin Xi was stunned for a moment.
Li Qingming did not reply; he just stared intently at Yin Xi for a long while and said: “Senior, on this journey, we have encountered too many mysteries. Has anyone else ever traveled this Path to Heaven? Why have Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti Buddha Mother actually guided Dharma Ancestor? Furthermore, according to the current historical trajectory of Pangu’s Great Thousand World, you shouldn’t appear here!”
“Huff!” Yin Xi, with a complex look in his eyes, stared at Li Qingming for a long while and then suddenly let out a breath of foul air, saying: “Before I tell you more about this, there are some things that need to be clarified.”
“Please speak frankly, senior!” Li Qingming’s heart skipped a beat.
And the others all pricked up their ears, looking forward to Yin Xi’s revelations with anticipation.
Yin Xi’s eyes became deep, as if he were sinking into some memory: “Whether it is the Small World, Central Heaven World, or Great Thousand World, they all exist within the same Universe Chaos World. And the Universe Chaos World has undergone two Great Destructions. Half of the Central Heaven World and Pangu’s Great Thousand World have already been destroyed twice.”(To be continued.
