Chapter 603: Chapter 146 Beast Gate Open
“Thump~ Thump~ Thump~”
A series of rhythmic footsteps sounded from the stairs, getting closer and closer.
“Lord Hun Tian, the Desert King, has arrived!”
The footsteps stopped at the top of the stairs, and a loud voice rang out, spreading throughout the entire tavern.
As the Desert King Hun Tian arrived at the top floor of the tavern with a group of seven or eight followers, everyone’s gaze turned toward this prince renowned across all the Central Heaven Worlds.
This Desert King still bore his towering frame of eight feet tall, face sharp as though chiseled from stone, only now there was a somewhat ethereal air around him.
It would seem that after being sucked into a spatial rift, he must have had some incredible fortune that greatly increased his cultivation.
Li Qingming glanced at Hun Tian, a hint of amusement on his face, then lowered his head and said, “Come on, both of you eat! These pan-fried python beef dumplings are quite good, they’ll get cold if you don’t eat them now!”
In the complete silence of the tavern, this voice was particularly jarring!
A cold glint flashed in Hun Tian’s eyes as he sharply turned his head toward Li Qingming’s table.
As the former life-saving benefactor, now apparently quite aware of his own toady nature, the sleazy black-clad individual, Zhen Jia Taoist, seemed to have found his courage at that moment.
He arrogantly glanced at Li Qingming and his companions. Although he was somewhat fearful of Man Niu’s murderous ways, he thought of the fact that this was Han Yuan City and behind him supporting him was the Desert King Hun Tian himself, so he suddenly felt bold enough to mutter disdainfully, “Eat, all he damn knows is to eat, just like a pig!”
Those who heard this voice all looked incredulously at Zhen Jia, thinking to themselves, “Has this guy gone mad…”
A mocking gleam passed through Hun Tian’s eyes. He patted Zhen Jia on the shoulder and said, “Exactly! Some beings are simply born to eat their whole lives!”
Man Niu, with his volatile temper, was about to stand up but was grabbed and held back by Li Qingming.
“Brother Li!” Man Niu called out with a hint of irritability.
“Sit down!” Li Qingming said with a gentle smile, patting Man Niu’s shoulder and then turning his head to Zhen Jia, “Who are you calling a beast?”
As if all eyes were on him, Zhen Jia Taoist felt an inexplicable satisfaction. He didn’t quite catch what Li Qingming had said earlier, and proudly proclaimed, “Talking about you!”
Sitting opposite Li Qingming, Shakyamuni twitched the corner of his mouth and said, “Amitabha Buddha!”
Li Qingming shrugged his shoulders and said, “Did you hear that? He’s calling himself a beast. Why should we take a beast seriously?”
“Pfft… Hahaha…”
The entire top floor of the tavern once again descended into a sea of mirth, laughing heartily as if they had all forgotten about Hun Tian’s presence.
“Hmph!” Hun Tian’s eyes sparked like lightning, his aura at the peak of the Mid-stage Sub-Saint level bursting forth.
“Whoosh!”
The mighty fluctuations of mana made the whole tavern shake, and all the laughter stopped at this moment.
“Ha! Hahaha…”
Suddenly, Li Qingming looked at Hun Tian and burst out into loud, unrestrained laughter, so piercing to the ears.
“What are you laughing at?” Hun Tian disliked this sensation intensely; he coldly stared at Li Qingming and asked.
“You!” Li Qingming stopped laughing, a mocking divine light flickered in his eyes as he said slowly and deliberately, “Do, you, dare, to, make, a, move!”
Silence!
In a moment, the entire tavern fell so quiet that you could hear a pin drop!
Li Qingming’s words were incredibly damaging; they bore a strong sense of disdain and contempt.
He sat there loosely in front of Lord Hun Tian, yet what made Lord Hun Tian feel uncomfortable was that he found no way to retort.
“Good! Very good!” After a long stare, Lord Hun Tian “whooshed” as he withdrew his aura, saying, “I hope you can still spout such arrogance in a few days!”
Li Qingming smiled indifferently and replied, “You better take care of yourself!”
The commotion eventually did not escalate, and Lord Hun Tian left the tavern with a darkened face, leading his entourage away.
…
Leisure time is always short-lived; since the tavern incident, nine days had passed, and it was almost dawn on the tenth. The Beast Fighting Arena was about to commence, where competitors from various worlds within the Central Heaven would battle it out to determine the victors and the defeated.
Of course, Lord Hun Tian had been busy these past few days. Using his name as the most favored young son of the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Demons, he had successfully rallied quite a number of followers.
Now, he harbored a deep hatred toward Li Qingming and Man Niu for twice embarking him on a fool’s errand. He gathered connections, all to resolve both of them completely in the Beast Fighting Arena.
That night, all the outstanding figures from various worlds assembled in a small square, packed with figures under the dim moonlight that cast a gentle and soft glow over the square.
“Dawn has arrived! Beast Fighting Arena, open the Beast Gate!”
Suddenly, the aged, loud voice of the Golden Boat City Lord echoed throughout the Cold Origin Ancient City.
Immediately after, nine Tao Runes of various colors burst forth from the high platform in the center of the square. It seemed as though they carried a certain potency, each perfectly controlling a Power of Heavenly Dao.
Li Qingming’s eyes sparkled as he sensed the bloodline aura of the Golden Crow Clan in those nine Tao Runes, deeply embedded in the marrow, impossible to erase.
“Perhaps, this so-called Jin Zhou Taoist might be Hou Yi Great Witch…” he muttered quietly, confusion deepening across his face.
“Hum!”
The nine brilliant Tao Runes tumbled and circled above the small square, transforming into various shapes: Azure Dragon, Xuanwu, Vermilion Bird, plants and mountains, flowers and birds, fish and insects… all making a grand appearance!
It was hard to imagine how these mere nine slender threads could evolve into so many things.
“Boom!”
Finally, when they combined into a nine-colored Arrow, piercing through the Heavenly Vault, the Void trembled, and a silvery radiance flashed before everyone’s eyes.
Then, an ancient-looking, golden-glowing giant metal gate appeared out of nowhere before the crowd.
The golden, starlight-refined gold door seemed to be a relic from an unknown era, strikingly radiant with a sense of the times.
The gate stood twenty zhang tall and several zhang wide, with countless Tao Runes engraved along its edges, mysterious and profound. The figures carved on the gate’s surface were none other than the Twelve Ancestor Witches of Pangu’s Great Thousand World!
Some were howling skywards, others were playing with stars and moons, while others were battling demons and slaying beasts… Such scenes were incredibly captivating!
The individuals from Pangu’s Great Thousand World, at this moment, were certain in their hearts that if this Jin Zhou Taoist were not Hou Yi Great Witch himself, he would certainly be his descendant, as he revered the Ancestor Witches of the Witch Tribe so highly.
“Brother Li, isn’t that Brother Di Jiang?” Li Qingquan had spent countless years in the company of the Ancestor Witches and naturally knew their images and expressions like the back of his hand!
Li Qingming waved his hand and said, “Don’t ask me; my mind is in chaos right now!”
Yin Xi who followed behind Li Qingming patted his shoulder and said, “Qingming, it looks like after we come out of the Beast Fighting Arena, we need to have a good talk with this Golden Boat City Lord!”
