The Goddess Made A Mistake Again
Chapter 455 - Seman’s Futile Bickering
CHAPTER 455: CHAPTER 455 - SEMAN’S FUTILE BICKERING
In front of the distraught eyes of Seman, were three wooden poles and on those three poles were three men strung up in torturous pain.
The one at the center was Oricon. He’s body was dehydrated as bone lines became visible on his blood-soaked body. He was stuck to the pole with both hands as they were hammered by a large screw above his head.
The same thing happened with the other two men. They looked empty and seemed to already be on their way to the afterlife if not for the faint breathing we could sense from them.
The only thing free from them was their legs which were dangling with the wind.
Seman wasn’t only shocked to see this state of Oricon but he was even more shaken when he saw the other two. They weren’t just ordinary people or criminals; they were his ministers.
They were two important people among the many who helped him keep this city afloat and right now they were struck on that pole in cruel torture.
"What happened here? Why is Alohan and Bigdikin strung up like that?" Seman asked.
"Henry, did you know-" Seman turned his head sharply to see me shaking my head.
"I didn’t know this would happen." I tell him. ’But I know why they did.’
"Nance, bring them down right now." Seman ordered.
"Alright" Nance nodded and went there but was immediately blocked by several soldiers with spears, blocking him.
"What are you doing?"
"I’m sorry, sir." One of the soldiers said, "But you can’t approach beyond this perimeter."
"Lord Seman has ordered me to bring them down, so step aside."
They shook their head with a hard expression, "I’m sorry but we have strict orders not to let anyone obstruct this scene of justice. No matter who they are."
Nance narrowed his eyes, "Do you know who you’re talking about? He is your Lord, your leader, the one who oversees this city and you’re obstructing hi-"
Seman put a hand on Nance’s shoulder, stopping him as he came forward, "Who was it that ordered you... about this ’Scene of Justice’?"
The two soldiers gulped seeing the dark expression on Seman as they answered.
...
Margaret was working on the office room inside the castle when she heard three knocks to the door. From the rhythm of it, she knew it was something important so Margaret looked up from her endless amount of dead work, "Yes"
Helena came in quickly and with how her face was, you could tell it was something bad.
"Marga- Margaret, It- It’s..."
"Out with it."
"It’s Lord Seman, he’s here." Helena gulped, "And he wants to speak with you urgently. Margaret, the lord seems very angry."
"Of course he’d be. I do nothing and it bothers him and when I do something, it angers him." Margaret sighed, signing another piece of paper before getting up with both hands pushing her up, "Let’s go."
Margaret went down with Helena following her with small murmurs of fear. But She did not listen to her and came down to the courtyard where she saw them.
"Father, Henry, uncle... all of you are here." Margaret smiled and came closer, "Why didn’t you sent someone to notify me earlier, I would have prepared a feast for you."
Margaret noticed Henry giving her a cautious look. She didn’t need Henry’s look to tell her, she could directly see the dark cloud above her father as he wordlessly came to her.
"What did you do, Margaret?"
"Excuse me? What are you talking about, father?"
"You know what I’m talking about. The show you put in the city center is big enough to draw everyone’s attention." Seman said, "Why did you do that?"
Margaret turned from her father to Henry, "You didn’t tell him?"
Henry shook his head, "He was injured badly so I didn’t find a good time too."
"What?" Seman turned around, confused, "You said you didn’t know, Henry,"
"Well, I didn’t know that this would happen... but why it happened that I know."
"So you’re keeping secrets from me too." Seman was disappointed.
"Not really, just wanted to break it to you gently when you were back at home... but that clearly wasn’t possible." Henry smiled awkwardly.
Seman tried to make sense of him before turning to Margaret, "At least he has his excuse, what do you have to say? But first, bring them down. I won’t let such cruelty endeavor anymore."
Margaret raised a hand, "First, I don’t have any excuses and no father, you won’t bring them down."
"I won’t?"
"No... that is their punishment. Oricon has done the vilest of crimes and the other two has been brought up to be his ally so they shall endure the same pain as him."
"Punishment? I make the law here!" Seman almost yelled, "I am your Lord!"
"Even so..."
Seman groaned and turned around, "Get those three down this instant." He ordered the men but something strange happened.
"What are you waiting for? Go!" Seman yelled but the scared soldiers stood quietly, not moving. Their eyes remaining on Margaret for direction.
"Stay as you are." Margaret said and looked at Seman, "They won’t listen to you, father."
"What did you do?" Seman’s eyes narrowed at Margaret almost like an enemy.
"I talked it over with Mother. She agrees with me." Margaret’s words were like a hammer to Seman’s chest.
"You went past me to your mother?"
"Not technically, from what we heard of the battlefield, we had assumed the worst."
Seman turned to Henry, "Hey, I don’t know what she’s talking about."
Then to Nance, "I was in the bed right next to you."
Seman’s eyes lost its motion and he quietly moved past Margaret.
Margaret sighed and thought whether this was truly the right choice. She felt a hand on her shoulder and saw Henry.
"Sometimes, the unexpected needs to be done to obtain the right changes."
...
On the central North-East side of the kingdom lay the large Dragontail city.
Dragontail was a prominent city with its range of mining spots and business centers. The place generated a lot of money but it wasn’t just a business or a mining city that made it so popular.
The place was very secure with its crime rates being the lowest even though it was such a big city. The place was crawling with soldiers but with not enough soulnessness to call it an army city.
The Dragontail city like its name was governed by the famous Dragonoirs who gave birth to exceptional men in every single generation. The governing family lived in the center of the city, inside the most magnificent mansion.
But at this current moment, the atmosphere of the mansion was cold and dark.
It was due to the recent arrival of Peter Dragonoir who had been sent on a mission to get some debts from the Religias... only to come back with a large slap on the ass.
Inside the large ceremony hall of the mansion, Peter kneeled to the ground. His body shivered as he felt the sharp eyes of the mansions strongest person on him.
"It’s good that my sister is out on an important manner... you know she doesn’t like failures." The cold, emotionless voice echoed through the large room.
"Bu- But father, it really wasn’t my fault." Peter tried to explain.
"Oh? Are you actually giving me an excuse now?"
"No, no, no... I- I was just-"
"Enough"
"You were sent out on a simple mission and failed miserably. There won’t be any excuse for it." With a simple gesture from the man, Peter was taken away without any restraint.
The man sighed as he sat on the thrown like seat with its black dragon design.
"Henry Van Tax, huh?"
