Chapter 464: Chapter 464 – The Secula Matter [ Part 1 ]

Knock Knock

“Yes”

Redwick opened the door and slid in, “Master, the person from the church has arrived.”

“The exact same one?” I look up from the increased workload that I had ignored this past month.

Redwick nods, “The exact one, except he didn’t have any disciples with him.”

“So no bodyguard, huh.”

“Ma- Master, you can’t think of the church like tha-”

I ignore his words and my mind revolves back to the moment, Anna told me about the church.

After the long hug and a bit talk, Anna’s head jerked up as she remembered something, “Oh Henry, I almost forgot to mention, a Bishop had come earlier looking for you.”

“A Bishop from the Goddess’s church?”

Anna nodded, “Yes, he asked for you.”

“Why?”

“It was regarding a place called Secula.”

My brows crack at the mention of that place. The place called Secula was none other than the same one with the small village where Katherna and her gang for vengeance resided.

Now that she mentioned the place, the old chief did say something about their village being associated by the church.

More like paying taxes.

In this day and age, even churches could enact taxes upon people. Not everyone though, like the big cities or families. Only small villages, towns, farms and etc.

Places where the kingdom’s influence weren’t much but faith remained superior.

It wasn’t that big cities and families didn’t have faith, it’s just they knew not to get fucked by anyone, even if it was their goddess.

“What did he say?” I ask Anna.

“Nothing, he just wanted to ask about that place and when he learned that you were not here, he simply left.”

‘So he didn’t cause any unnecessary problems.’

One think comes to mind as I ask, “Did he come alone or with company?”

“He had company.” Anna thought a moment and remembered the figures, “They looked monks, but strong like they could take on hand to hand combat and actually win most of them.”

‘So he brought Warrior Monks with him… doesn’t really incite good confidence now.’

“Henry” Anna asks, “What is this Secula place? Do we have any connections with them?’

I quickly rethink about what to say.

Anna didn’t know about the place because I precisely told nobody to tell her. The things I did at that place was not something for her sweet ears to hear.

So I somewhat lie.

“Oh, of course that place has connections… bad ones.” I tell her as she became curious, “Do you remember that a few months ago some gangs came and attacked the mansion, destroying it?”

Her eyes widened in recognition as her head bobbed, “That time when you sent us away.”

“Yep, that one. The gang had a base at that village called Secula, the church had some dealings with the village so they probably came to ask about that.”

“Oh… alright.”

“Since I’m back, sent notice to the church about me. It’s better to finish this matter with the church as quickly as possible and not seem guilty.”

“Why would you seem guilty, Henry?”

I… damn, I just fuck myself sometimes.

“You know…” I quickly make up some words, “People know that I had connections with the underground and they make up things in their mind… the church may be religious, but it is looked upon by man and mankind tend to think about unsavory things most of the time.” I smile, hiding my guilt.

“Alright…” Anna quietly said as she tried to figure why the smile looked so gullible.

Back to the present…

Remember that time with Anna, I don’t think she actually believed my words. She may be naïve, but not that much.

“aster… master… Master!”

“Ye- Yeah, I’m here.” I ask, “What is the Bishop doing now?”

“He’s at the drawing room, talking with Anna.”

“Good, she’s a religious girl so she’ll keep him occupied.” I remember something else, “Make sure Alice doesn’t come out.”

Redwick nods.

The Church didn’t take magic other than their own kindly.

“Are you okay?” Redwick asked, concerned, “Should I bring you something first?”

“It’s alright.” I stand up, “Let’s not keep the Goddess’s people waiting.”

“That would be best, Master.”

We get out and walk together as I look at Redwick. My eyes penetrated through his old body and found something interesting.

“I haven’t talked to you for a while, how have you been Redwick?”

Redwick smiled, “Great. Seeing you approach life and turn bigger has been such a blessing to us. I’m sure the Old Master is looking down at you and feeling proud.”

“Can’t say if he’s really looking down or up now.”

“We- Well, he’s a man Henry, we all have our major setbacks… some more than others.”

I nod before I get to my curiosity, “You’ve become strong, Redwick.” His muscle density looked better than before, interesting.

“Oh! You’ve noticed it already huh.” Redwick gave a nervous laugh, “Nothing escapes from your eyes.”

Before I could ask further, we came to the room as Redwick went to announce me.

I step back for a second and look at the man.

It was a tall man of over 6 foot but had a middle aged normal semi-fat frame. He stood up and turned around as I saw a gentle face giving me a senseless smile.

But it was his clothes that got my interest.

A long white silk robe with a gold line coming down from the middle. At the center of that gold had the white stitching of a lady with perfect figure wearing simple robe and matching her palms at the stomach.

The robe looked simple, but its quality at both to the eye and the wearer was great. You could simply feel a sense of goodness rubbing off on you as you see this robes.

I bring out a smile and steadily approach the man, “Good Morning, Father. Thank you for blessing this place with your visit.”

The man smiled seeing a religious boy, “Thank you for inviting me to your delightful home, son. I hope I didn’t arrive at a bad time.”

“Of course not. I always have time for the Goddess’s restless workers, Hahaha.” The man slowly nodded with a gently smile but that was not the worrying thing.

It was Anna and Redwick. Both of them looked at me as if I was struck by lightning.

I know that I haven’t shown a religious outlook before but they have to understand the professionalism here.

I give them a wide look as there looks change and they laugh… albeit shadily.

We sit down and talk a bit before the bishop’s face turned heavy.

“Lord Henry… do you know for what reason I came here?”

I nod, “Yes, it’s about the village of Secula.”

“And do you know anything about it? Or what has happened to it now?”

I nod again, “Yes, I do father. In fact, I can even tell you what happened.”

“Oh!” The Bishop was surprised; he didn’t think Henry would be so accommodating or would actually have any direct information, “May I ask how you know them?”

“Oh, father.” I looked down and sigh heavily, “It is truly a misfortune that such a horrid place was connected with this place. If I had known before, I wouldn’t have bought this place.”

“Hm… What happened that it was so bad of an experience for you?”

“If you must know…” I inwardly smile.

‘Time to bring up the script.’
