CHAPTER 467: CHAPTER 467 - VISIT WITHOUT RESULT

"Em... Hmm..." The Bishop murmured quietly in the bed as he twisted slowly and painfully.

Slowly he murmured more and twitched open his eyes with subtle blinks. His vision, blurry as he tried to check clearly.

"Wh... What is this?" In his blurry vision, he saw some metallic color move.

"You’re awake huh?" The color said, "Call in the boss, tell him the guinea pig is awake."

"Gui- Guinea pig..." The Bishop spoke and his vision somehow started getting clearer and clearer as he saw what the color really looked like.

The Bishop’s eyes widened at the sight of a lean man with bald head, wearing a black and silver robe. But what shocked the holy man was the scissor and clippers in front of his face as the unknown man clicked them.

"Since you’re awake, I think we can begin with the preliminary tests."

"Te- Tests?... What are you talking about?"

"Do not be afraid, pig." The man spoke with a creepy smile as the things in his hands came closer, "It’ll only hurt for a while... quite painfully."

The Bishop’s mind cracked as he was about to scream when he heard a familiar voice, "Doctor, can you stop with that."

Looking past the crazy man, the Bishop found Henry coming in as he sighed in relief, "Lo- Lord Henry, please save me from this being!"

...

I smile hearing what the Bishop call him.

It wasn’t far from the truth. With how the guy behaved, he was nothing other than a dangerous creature.

I walk past the crazy doc and stand in front of the scared bishop, "Father, am I glad to see you’re okay."

"So am I... what am I doing here exactly?" The Bishop said as he finally regained some consciousness.

"You don’t remember?" I say, "It was quite a devastating sight though. Seems like you might have hit your head or something."

"What do you mean?"

"I’ll explain later, first let’s check if you’re really alright." I say and gesture to the crazy doc as the Bishop exclaimed.

"No! Not him, anybody but him."

"Haha... it’s alright, father. I know the doc’s methods seem... erratic." I pat the crazy doc, "But I assure you, doc here is one of the very best you can find."

"Well... if you say so."

With that, the doc tested out the man for a moment before I stepped in, "You are fine, bishop. Much better than how I found you."

"Found me?... what are you saying?" The Bishop was truly confused.

"Hm... so you really don’t remember huh." Let’s hope the amnesia doesn’t become a problem, "What’s the last thing you remember, father... before waking up?"

"Before huh?" The Bishop thought for a moment as he answered, "I remember saying goodbye to you and leaving with the carriage..."

"Then"

"Then we rode for a while before... before... Argh!" The Bishop clutched his head as it throbbed in pain.

I look towards the cra cra doc as he explained, "Sometimes, heavy situations can cause the brain to stimulate too much and cause pain, amnesia and other side effects."

That much I knew as well, "So we should let him rest and let the memories come back naturally."

"Well, that’s what would others say... but in my personal opinion, let me work on him and take out every secret." The Crazy Doc said with a very creepy smile.

"..."

"...So what do you say?"

"Doc, what did I say about public image."

The Doc groaned, "I will make scarce."

"Please do."

I turn to the Bishop and find him lying back, "I’m sorry for that, I don’t know what happened just now."

"Don’t worry about it, just rest for now. We’ll talk later." I was about to get up, but the guy stopped me.

"Please, Lord Henry. Tell me what happened earlier, I need to know."

Seeing his pleading look, I bring a chair and sit, "Well, since you asked. You don’t remember what happened after leaving, right?" He nods, "Well, in short, everyone’s dead."

"What!"

"I see I need to give the long version... well, my version that is." I tell him, "It was an hour or two after you left, that a patrol group of mine were doing their job when they found you guys."

"The patrol found you on the side of the road, completely unconscious. The carriage was broken into tethers, most of the guards dead and the criminal killed."

"Killed... you mean Keny’s dead?" The Bishop asks as I nod, "Did anyone other than me survive?"

"It was one of the guards... but his injuries were too much so his time was narrow. But even in that moment, he proved himself bravely and said that the attack was done from Keny’s group."

"Keny’s group... the one Katherna led before?" The bishop said, "But why would they kill her, they could have taken her back."

"Well, our idea is that they knew Keny blabbered everything she knew so she had become a liability. When you came to take her, they found their chance and killed her."

"Oh... that is quite a distraught thing." The Bishop prayed and asked, "Have you sent any letter to the church about me?"

"I was about to... but didn’t."

"Why?"

"Because frankly father, I didn’t know what to call you in the letter." I smile, "You still haven’t told me your name yet."

"It’s Benipole."

...

My current attire had changed to black clothes and a long cape that significantly hid my figure. I walked into an irrelevant looking tea shop at a very shady side of the road.

Inside were a few tables that remained empty since its opening and one guy who sluggishly looked at me before giving a subtle gesture towards the left.

Going to his direction, I find a somewhat small door that I knock thrice as it opened quickly. I went inside and in quick moments I was inside the black market.

I didn’t need to do the passwords and other gestures anymore; I was famous enough for people to recognize me.

My destination tonight was an illegal fight club that I owned. Outside, it was quiet as a whistle with two extremely tall guards acting as statues... but inside, there was sounds of thrashing and cheering going on.

"Boss" One of the guards inside quickly led me to one of the VIP room. It was big enough for a group of five to enjoy watching the fights. Opening the room, you could see a large glass window which showed the fights right under.

The stage was normally like the underground fights could be, a spacious round stage that was locked by a steel cage.

"Kill Him!"

"Break his arms, I paid extra for that!"

"Don’t you dare lose, you son of a bitch! I bet too much on you!"

Those were the typical sounds you would hear, but since I was inside one of the VIP room, the sound was significantly muffed.

Three knocks sounded on the door and a person came in, bowing, "Boss, I’m so glad to see you come."

My gaze remained on the fight floor as the guy locked the door and came beside me.

I didn’t need to look at him to know who he was.

It was Barnical, a big fat guy with greasy hands filled with expensive gold rings and a greed for loose woman. This is the guy I put in charge of the place.

Yeah, his description was fucked up but he was the man for this kind of setup.

"The fights and bets are racking in quite the income, boss! Much more than any of the other rings there ar-"

"Is he here?"

"Huh..." The guy sweated, "Not particularly."

I give him a glance and he backed away, "Typically he’d be here boss, but just not today. If you want, I can find someone to bring him here."

I sigh, "No... let it be, I’ll find him another day."

"For now, give me the list of today’s fight... I wanna bet."

The greasy fucker smiled widely, "I know some that are a sure bet, boss."
