The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 1: Yvette Aston Is Released from Prison
CHAPTER 1: CHAPTER 1: YVETTE ASTON IS RELEASED FROM PRISON
Meridia, prison.
"Once you’re out, don’t look back. Live well."
Yvette bowed her head, shivering in the cold wind.
Five years.
The year she went to prison, she was just twenty-one.
"Get in the car."
A black Maybach was parked by the roadside, the man’s voice cold.
He was Yvette’s brother, the brother she had called for twenty-one years, only to suddenly find out they were not related by blood.
"Brother..." Yvette’s voice was hoarse, she hung her head, feeling awkward.
"I’m not your brother, stop disgusting me." Stellan’s face darkened, checking the time. "You stole my sister’s life for twenty-one years, causing her to suffer endless humiliation in that family, what right do you have to call me brother."
Yvette’s cracked lips moved, but in the end, she couldn’t speak a word.
The only daughter of the Aston family in Meridia, Yvette Aston, was actually the maid’s child, and the real daughter was secretly swapped by the maid.
"I’m sorry..." After a long silence, Yvette apologized with a raspy voice.
Framed for extortion, in these five years in prison, she learned to yield, learned to apologize, for survival, she could even kneel and beg for mercy anytime, anywhere.
Once, she was the high and mighty daughter of the Aston family, the cherished gem adored by her brother and parents.
But suddenly, one day, the real Aston daughter burst into her life in rags.
Overnight, her biological mother became a criminal, she became the one who had swapped lives, a clown scorned by everyone in Meridia.
No one cared that when her biological mother swapped her out, she was just a baby in swaddling clothes, she had no choice.
"Sorry? Just a sorry, and five years in prison can atone for all the harm your family did to Charlotte?" Stellan’s voice was very cold, looking at Yvette with disgust. "Get in the car."
He found Yvette dirty, unwilling to touch her at all.
The brother who once loved to hold her, saying our Yvette is the prettiest, now wished she were dead.
"I... I’m dirty." Yvette smiled bitterly, stepped back, afraid to get in the car.
Stellan frowned, scanning Yvette from head to toe.
Once, Yvette lived a wealthy life for twenty-one years, as a precious daughter in their family, dazzling and radiant in everyone’s eyes.
Now, she was covered in dust, pale and thin, making her seem humbly vulnerable to the core.
Clearly, she was doing very poorly inside.
"Don’t make me say it a second time, get in the car!" Stellan looked at Yvette with a venomous gaze. "Charlotte had an accident, are you happy? Come with me to the hospital, you owe her this!"
Yvette’s evasive, hollow eyes froze for a moment, suddenly feeling a bit scared.
The moment she walked out of the detention center, she thought she was hallucinating, her brother couldn’t possibly come to pick her up, the entire Aston family hated her to death.
But Stellan came.
He came, naturally not to pick her up.
"What do you mean..." Yvette was trembling.
"Charlotte was in a car accident, she needs a kidney transplant, you owe her." Stellan frowned, speaking in a deep voice.
Yvette took a deep breath, stepped back again, her survival instinct made her turn and run.
"Yvette, you really are as vicious as ever."
She hadn’t run far before someone yanked her wrist hard and she fell to the ground.
Embarrassed, sprawled on the ground, Yvette’s forehead struck the curb, blood gushed out.
This voice... cold, yet familiar.
She looked back, fearfully curling her legs.
Jayden Grant, her former fiancé, also one of the people who forged evidence of extortion to personally send her to prison.
"This is what you owe Charlotte." Jayden said word by word, dragging Yvette, who had just walked out of prison, back into the abyss of hell.
She thought she would be free when released.
In court, she didn’t explain, nor had the strength to explain.
She thought admitting guilt and serving five years would atone for all her sins, but it was far from enough.
"Hurry up and send her to the hospital, Charlotte’s still waiting." Stellan was somewhat impatient.
"What if she doesn’t agree?" the driver asked.
"Doesn’t agree? Her life should belong to Charlotte, what right does she have to disagree?" Jayden sneered, reaching out to pinch Yvette’s chin. "Your villainous biological mother is still in prison, if you want her to live, you’d better behave, exchange your kidney."
Yvette’s trembling body gradually became stiff, sure enough, what awaited her after prison was still hell.
To survive in the hands of these demons, she had to strive to climb up.
In the entire Meridia, the only man who could protect her, is Ethan Grant, the president of Grant Group, Jayden’s elder brother.
