The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 108: The Gift Yvette Aston Gave Ethan Grant
CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108: THE GIFT YVETTE ASTON GAVE ETHAN GRANT
Yvette called the police, and they took the person away for investigation.
It wasn’t really a big deal, the resolution after the investigation was compensation and apology.
But Christopher made a big fuss about it, and everyone in the group knew.
"If you have a clean record, you don’t fear shadows. If you sleep around carelessly, why fear what others say?"
"Let me tell you, I have a buddy who slept with Yvette. This woman is famous in the circle."
"She looks pretty and quite innocent, but turns out to be like this. I also want to sleep with her."
A few men joked in the smoking area.
Rumors never disappear; even if they’re not mentioned in the group anymore, they’ll be discussed privately.
"You’re not qualified; those who sleep with Yvette are all rich second generations."
Yvette stood outside the smoking area for a long time before pushing the door open. "Which friend of yours slept with me? Have him come and confront me. If he didn’t sleep with me, you must apologize to me publicly."
Yvette’s voice was somewhat hoarse.
She had adopted a peace-keeping attitude, as long as she couldn’t hear them, it didn’t matter, but these people were going too far.
In the smoking area, the men were all stunned.
Seeing Yvette with reddened eyes questioning them, the atmosphere weakened considerably, they all laughed and teased. "What, can’t talk about sleeping together? How much is one night? I’m not a rich second generation, but a month’s salary for one night with you, am I qualified?"
"I don’t understand, does insulting a stranger woman with words and spreading false rumors bring you joy?" Yvette asked chokingly.
"Because in the understanding of incompetent men, having something useless over women is their most boastful asset."
Behind Yvette, Ethan’s voice was deep.
The men smoking looked at Ethan fearfully, stubbed out their cigarettes, and tried to leave.
"Apologize." Ethan raised his eyes, his presence was overpowering.
He seemed to only need to stand there without saying anything to make people not dare to look straight at him.
"I’m sorry..." The leading man quickly apologized, keeping his head down and not daring to raise it.
"Grant Group doesn’t lack talent; in the face of the same abilities, character is particularly important." Ethan turned to look at the HR manager.
Lilith’s expression was not good; those men were hired for special positions recommended by Melody Crowe for Jayden Grant, and one of them was Lilith’s nephew. "Hurry up and get back to work."
"In situations like this, is just a verbal apology enough to go back to work?" Christopher asked doubtfully, speaking again. "Miss Larson, there’s a rule we recall during recruitment: character first."
Lilith watched Yvette nervously.
It was Yvette’s first day working alongside Ethan, and already she’d caused such trouble. "Yvette, how do you want to handle this?"
Yvette took in a deep breath; the old fox knew Yvette, new to the company, wouldn’t dare offend anyone.
But Lilith misjudged.
On Yvette’s second day of internship, she had already learned from the cafeteria uncle about Lilith’s nephew’s identity.
She knew Charles Larson’s habits, every day at half past three, he’d come here with a few close colleagues to smoke.
And these people, their qualifications weren’t the best; without Lilith’s arrangement, they couldn’t have entered Grant Group.
The positions seemed insignificant but had great promotion potential.
Clearly, this was Lilith planting seeds for Melody Crowe and Jayden Grant.
"Grant Group doesn’t lack 985 nor 211, nor does it lack graduate students; they’re insulting not only me but thousands of women facing such false rumors. I request the company have them write a review and post it in the work group, and offer their resignation voluntarily."
Yvette still left them an out, not pushing them too harshly.
By resigning voluntarily, they can take their resume showing they worked at Grant Group and easily enter other companies, securing high salaries.
But if they were dismissed by Grant Group, the reason for their dismissal would be written into their resume.
Large companies have background checks, especially for important positions.
The men were shocked, looking at Yvette, their faces turning pale with anger. "Yvette, this is personal revenge!"
But with Ethan there, they didn’t dare be too arrogant.
Yvette didn’t speak, hoping they would retreat wisely.
She was Ethan’s assistant now, from this moment on, she’d carry the weight of the boss’s problems.
Besides, she didn’t care about these rumors anymore; her reputation was already ruined, what was there left to fear?
Ethan looked at Yvette with deep meaning, admiration in his eyes.
It was the employer’s praise for the employee.
Christopher also glanced at Yvette, surprised she could actually handle big matters.
On the first day of work, she gave the boss such a big gift.
"Yvette..." Lilith still wanted to say something.
"Miss Larson, you’re a veteran at the company, you know the company’s image is above everything else." Yvette interrupted Lilith.
Lilith frowned thoughtfully at Yvette.
Different from the timid look she first saw, for a moment Lilith felt Yvette was disguising herself as weak when strong.
"Aren’t you going to thank her?" Ethan looked warningly at Charles.
"Why should I thank..." Charles was clueless.
But Lilith interrupted her nephew. "If you resign voluntarily, you write the reason yourself; but if the company dismisses, when you’re applying to other companies, who will say good things for you during background checks?"
Charles gritted his teeth and snorted. "Alright! We’ll apologize."
After speaking, Charles and a few others left.
They were merely complying for Ethan’s sake.
And Yvette was the fox borrowing the tiger’s might.
"Manager Larson, be cautious in recruiting people from now on." Ethan reminded with deep meaning.
Lilith took a deep breath and quickly nodded. "Okay, Mr. Grant, if there’s nothing else... I’ll return to my post."
Ethan glanced at Christopher.
Christopher understood and followed up to handle the matter concerning Charles and the others.
"Did you know Charles is Lilith’s nephew?" With only Ethan and Yvette left, Ethan asked.
Yvette exhaled deeply, not daring to look at Ethan as she stammered. "Yes... yes."
She had investigated in advance.
Ethan smiled, just now full of thorns; in front of him, she immediately wilted?
Ethan rarely praises anyone, but Yvette indeed constantly surprises him.
He took a step forward, lowered his head to look at Yvette. "First day at work, this is your pledge of loyalty?"
Ethan was too close; Yvette flinched backwards, in the smoking area was a step, Yvette didn’t see it, almost falling.
Ethan reflexively reached out, and they both ended up falling onto the sink counter behind them.
However, Ethan’s hand cushioned the sink, preventing Yvette from hitting it.
"I... I’m sorry." Yvette, like a startled rabbit, spoke with reddened ears. "This isn’t a pledge of loyalty, they aren’t worthy."
Doing business with Ethan, Charles at most is a small fry.
This is just an appetizer.
In a few days, Yvette gradually got rid of the assistants around Lilith, her nephew, and a few planted people.
She was shaking the mountain to scare the tiger.
